The game was clearly designed for pvp, in pve you just grind mobs to level up for pvp, people are full of crap trying to promote this game, im sure its good for pve but I was expecting a real pve mmorpg from the hype.

Dunno where you people get deceived. I always say BDO PvE is non existent and PvP is only world = BAD.

How is PvE any different or worse than any other MMO? If we take the most successful MMO ever and look at how many still play it, wow is on rails and it's about getting a question mark npc to get you to go here and do that, much like most PvE is MMOs. So what does BDO do that is both non existent and bad?

aamazingly I've spent 200 hours on PvE so far, am level 23 and haven't scratched the surface, so how you can say it's non-existent is beyond me as that's all I've done.

Well of course PVE exists but imo it is just VERY shallow.

The only argument for PVE not being shallow is if you consider memorizing key presses for combat as being good or meaningful and i don't.You know why, well because if i was to immerse myself into that role in a world,i would not be memorizing key presses or doing back flips or somersaults or spinning around.

PVE=player versus environment and eventually you will see desert like conditions but not for some time. The player versus environment like in every game is VERY limited.

I always rate a game based on how i would design a game for myself because that would be with passion and not just to whip something out to make money. There is only ONE idea in the entire game design that i would put into my game and that is the Desert or Cold lands idea.I saw COLD utilized as an environment idea in Project Gorgon ,even still  i would take those ideas a lot further,i don't like half assed ideas.

Same half assed idea i see with the Ranger. You have a bow but no ammo .../sad VERY sad,you should not only have ammo but should be also utilized in crafting but alas the designer decided to half ass it.

The OP is delusional and I think he is new to MMOs and probably compares everything to WoW lol.

Most of the activities (life skills and leveling up) are PvE. The PvP in this game is half baked and unfinished.

Do you get anything for killing other players but a pat on the ass from people in your guild? no?

FFS GW2 has better and more relevant PvP than this game.

Is that the first thing you can do is jump to name calling to defend yourself? XD grow up.. That will get you banned from here fast and none of us would care either since you seem like another nobody.

    Anyways...

It is mob grinding yes but it does have classic kill 10 rat quests...And yeah I have been playing MMOs since late 90s when quests weren't like swtor or WoW and they were ummm kill 10 rats go grind this mob for x amount of hours and don't die or you start over (perma death). And guess what? It was Player vs Environment like this game. Most of what you do in this game is pve...and pvp is weak. Sorry to burst your rainbow bubble.

By no means is combat great...it was made for an xbox controller. Sometimes it just fun to mash buttons though..but i do not agree that the pvp is where is at in this game lol. So many better games for pvp with people who good or better than you I have no idea why all those noobs grasp onto pk like it's the second coming.

When I win a fight with someone who is better than me it's a rush; one shotting some poor girl tending to her carrots just isn't fun. To each his own I guess. Like I said this game tries to be too many things but isn't good at any of it; but for now I'm finding stuff to do. Not a fanbio be any means but it's all i'm playing atm. Hope the make it better but I have my doubts.

PvE = Player versus Environment, which basically equates to anything you do outside of PvP. Because it doesn't have instanced dungeons for gear grind? Sorry, that's not all there is to PvE.
Yes if that is how you define PvE yes it is.

Depends on what you consider PvE. If it's strictly the combat aspect, then.. yeah, it's not that great.  I kind of like the combo system, fast action, etc. but the mobs are not as good/hard as I would like (what MMO is though if you constantly hunt "level appropriate" mobs? I can't think of any..).

If you go hunt purple mobs (not just the occasional purple in red/pink camps, but a camp with a majority of purple with the occasional reds, or none at all).. You better have a decent accuracy and stay on your toes, but even then, one could argue that you should not go out of your way like that to have some kind of challenge.

If you consider PvE to be anything that is not PvP (crafting, gathering, questing, exploring, etc.), then that's where it shines for many. There is a myriad of other activities that you can get involved with other than strictly combat.  Ok, some will try to argue that they are just "mini-games" and that there is not any point into them because you  can pretty much buy anything you need from the market with the funds you got from fighting.. but how could these people buy the stuff if nobody was there to provide it to them in the first place?

I personnally have yet to get a character to 50+ so I have not touched PvP (been playing since early access, albeit a bit more casual than some over here!). I'm constantly derailed on something else and I go and do things depending on how I feel at that exact moment, on the goal(s) I have set myself.

So far, this has lead me to touch a little of everything because most of the things are interconnected (especially for someone who likes to "DIY").

A quick example of that, when I first wanted to craft myself a wagon. I needed to rent the appropriate workshop, and since I did not have enough CP for it, I had to go do some quests (which ended up making me do different things like killing mobs, some gathering, seeking some knowledge, etc.).

Once I had the workshop, and with my workers ready to work, I could now see what I needed to get to make the wagon so I could begin the operation and assign workers to gather most of the components. For some of those components I did not have found any node yet, so I had to gather these myself (some I did not even know where to find, so I had to explore and search for them, which can take quite some time, but which also made me explore the world a bit more and, again, do a lot of other things on the side as I explored further).

When I had enough materials of a specific type, I could assign some of the workers to start working on the actual wagon, while I continued gathering the rest.  Then, when all the mats were gathered and the final touch was made, I had my shiny new wagon and I was loving "her", and though she deserved to be "pimped" a little, so I proceeded to switch my workshop to a wagon part workshop, and the process started all over again.

All the while, I had upped my CP, gained knowledge (energy), increased my gathering skill a lot, my breath, training and horse too (from exploring the world), my personnal knowledge of the world itself (found spots with wild horses, spots for gathering specific mats by myself, spots with mobs of certain types that could later be useful to collect other resources, or new nodes I could unlock for specific mats that my workers could gather, gain combat skills and increased my own personnal skill with the combat system, etc.

This is certainly not the more effective approach. Like others, I could probably just have grinded mobs to 50+, then, with the cash, bought everything I needed from the market, or I could have looked at maps and guides online to see what was where and what was the  most efficient way to produce X thing and be done with it in a day or two, but that's not how I like to do things, I like to earn my stuff.  (Like in "Le petit prince" from Saint-Exupéry, "It's the time that you have wasted for your roses that make your roses so important." ).

It's not a perfect game for sure, and I'm not saying that it is the only good way to approach things and that everyone who does not play like that is wrong or does not get it, but to me, I think that explains why I  like the PvE in this game as much as I do.

(oups.. sorry for the length.. guess most will just fly by this one.... )

BDO is good only from EYE candy point of view every thing else is cheap Asian MMOrpg
Gw2 Pve was also killed ...it was weak and more of a Hamster wheel but after Hot even that hamster wheel was destroyed .
Best PvE game on marked is ESO from my point of view .

And I hope for Chronicle of Elyria will fix mmoRPG and set new trend and boundaries...I mention twice I HOPE!

Even I will admit gw2 has become an obnoxious treadmill of loot and grind. The sense of adventure is gone, the story has become lack luster and I only log in for dailies like instance nodes and Tequatl.

"Some people think the game is all about PvP, so all they do in PvE is grind mobs to level up so they can try and improve their gear for PvP"

Really though, BDO give's you so many activities that do not involve combat, that if you only limit yourself to combat, you are missing most of the game.

Also, since PvP is basically GEAR/STATS > Level  > Player Skill, I find the PvP to be the worst part of the whole game.

A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.

If you think PVE is only about killing mobs and doing quests, then yeah, actually I can see why this game isn't really setting any PVE awards on fire.

But I consider myself to be a PVE'er and rarely kill mobs or do quests.... What's left is what I am loving, crafting, node management, horse breeding etc.etc. etc. The depth in that part of PVE is phenomenal, don't let any "Oh I got to level 5 and know what I am talking about" idiot tell you otherwise.

Yes if that is how you define PvE yes it is.
You don't define something like PvE with personal bias. Theres a hard facts or knowledge known to what PvE entails and no, it's not just dungeons, quests and gear grind. So to say a game is shallow because it doesn't provide enough of the type of PvE you enjoy, is incorrect. BDO PvE is actually very expansive and deep if anyone bothered to investigate everything the game has to offer. Just because you only enjoy the pecans on grandma's pecan pie, doesn't mean there isn't a lot more for others to enjoy in the filling.
There is a reason why mmorpgs got quests that are actually rewarding now, this is why mmorpgs moved away from grinding mobs only to level in the first place.
