no, he was quoting a link but the link was removed. He's really pissed about it so he keeps making threads about it.

Oh OK. I thought they just stopped caring altogether.

Yeah, this is terrible that so much of this was leveraged to the client for Black Desert Online.

However, what "competitive PVP" is this guy talking about? I don't think anyone has ever claimed the PVP in BDO was competitive. If he wants competitive PVP, then picking an MMORPG with open world PVP was a really stupid mistake.

Oh Ok. Well, in all fairness... it was neither competitive nor skill based hacking or no hacking.

If this were strictly a PvE game, no one would care less if someone was cheating.

Your ability to create an argument is astounding. Cartoon quality if I might be specific. How about giving an example of why anyone in a PvE only game would care if someone is cheating?
I'm glad you feel the need to bring up that I won't argue with you about something so simple.

Proof?  Just read the damn forums. Any time there is hacking or cheating...it's complained about. PVE or PVP. Get over it....it's a fact.

Maybe there are hackers in every game, but they only matter in PvP games where there is a competitive atmosphere based on a players ability to defeat another player in a fair match. Once people start cheating in a PvP game, all fairness is null and void, thus making the game a complete joke. Yes, BDO is definitely a gear based game much like ArcheAge is. If this were strictly a PvE game, no one would care less if someone was cheating as it literally has zero direct impact on them enjoying the game.

Obviously you never played FFXI.  The hacks and stuff in that game were a constant source of discussion and annoyance to people that were PVE players.  As FFXI had virtually no meaningful PVP.

I wont be launching BDO again until this gets sorted and no ' sorted ' doesnt mean just handing out bans and not fixing the real problem.

Ok, just what exactly were they annoyed by or discussing? That's what I was asking for and since no one seems to have any specific examples of how cheating in PvE MMO's directly affected them, I'll just stick with my opinion.
Well people have always bitched about bot trains kill stealing in MMOs like Aion, SWG, GW2, WoW and that's a form of cheating so.

Than I'll just take what you have to say with a grain of salt, considering I don't see a lot of people complaining about cheaters in PvE only MMOs. Simply because cheaters in PvE games have zero impact on anyone in the game, as I stated. Cheating in a PvE MMO is only relevant to the cheater, no one else.
Keep speaking to yourself then. Typical here. They STILL DO bitch about exploits (oh wait...not a form of cheating right?) and hack in PVE even as it relates to PvP.

Whats the big deal?  Eveyrthing was being hacked in XIV for the first 6 months too.
Is there even PvP in FFXIV?  I'm not sure, but I don't think that game was designed for it, anyways.

It also wasn't designed to be extreme RNG with Gear and Levels playing such a big role in how your character fits into the overall gaming world.

This is the same issue Lineage II had with botting.  People (i.e. bothers from end game clans) always said it shouldn't matter what they did, but it does matter in a PvP game when someone can cheat to gain Levels, Gear, and Currency which then gives them distinct advantages when it comes to locking you out o lucrative content later on in the game.  Often, the grind in these Korean games are so severe, that once the cheaters get ahead, there is almost no way to catch up - other than cheating yourself.

It's a self-fueling issue.  That's what the big issue about it is.

PvE games can easily fix the issue by putting lockouts on group/raid instances, introducing an expansion/content update that causes a gear reset, etc.

You cannot do this in a game like BDO - you could cause most of your players to just quit, outright...

BDO is the new Lineage II.  That's why I never bothered playing it, and it's why I'll never play another Korean MMO again (ever).  They are completely clueless when it comes to the US market, and how readily thousands of people will jump at the chance to cheat when it's possible.  "Play to win" is strong in the EU/US markets.  People here won't gimp themselves when they see an easy way to uberize simply because "honor."

Sticking things in client side that have impact on the game play is like sticking your dick in a light socket and hoping no one turn on the switch.

It is almost not worth going into since it was going on from 2003-2008.  But FFXI was made by Square Enix for both PS2 and PC.  It came to the US later than to Japan which I guess is not that important except NA ppl were on the same servers and behind.  That game had a lot of world bosses that dropped the best stuff in game.  They were open world and whoever pulled it got it.  So JP were closer to the servers so less latency but that wasn't really the worst.  There were lots of hacks and I know this because after I quit I gave my account which had a max level whm and rdm on it to a friend.  He had hacks which let him dual box with my healers helping him power level.  I guess that is not terrible but...

There were hacks which allowed someone, usually the JP which had it first, pull the world bosses and once you claimed then you could easily kill them and get all that sweet sweet loot.  And then there were the fishing bots, the mining bots, the... which unfairly obtained items.  And the exploits which the gold sellers used to basically make unlimited gil by buying and selling stuff from NPC's until SE patched it.   And then the guy Taj who figured out how to put some command into chat that d/ced everyone at an event...

Lol so many hacks and exploits thinking back.  BDO has some issues but for me they don't affect me nearly as much.

I guess when it effects you is when you are completely blocked from progression because you cannot get the next tier of equipment.  For people in a pve game that is the win.  In ffxi you were completely blocked no matter how hard your guild tried for years, literally.  If you didn't buy hacks you didn't get the equipment because you didn't have a fair chance of pulling even if you camped those world bosses for years.

It also led to being able to sell your account/character for a crazy amount.  Our guild leader quit and sold his account which was pretty darn pimp (thief's knife, full dynamis armor, etc.) for enough to buy a very nice car.

I have played BDO for like 2 months, pretty casually, its nothing like what I put into FFXI when I was online for hours whenever one of the King NM's spawn times was up just to try to pull it and fight it.  Or the time I put into farming sky for pop items.  It is a lot more commitment than anyone puts into a MMO now and that is probably good.

I really can't see how a hacker in BDO is going to annoy me as much as the ffxi hacks did.  But I am a casual now, so your mileage may vary.

You can still have fun, just play PvE until you get to lvl 45, then quit. Or start PvP'ing and expect to lose to the cheaters.

Someone gave MMOGFAILS a EU account to mess around in. His report is pretty fucked up.

"First of all, most Russian hacks work, but not all of them. Daum's version of XIGNCODE3 is newer (or just different) than the one I encountered on the Russian version.
I could not bypass it using the tools I used on the Russian version, thankfully the Russian hacks that worked bypassed it for me.

Here are the hacks that I can confirm are working:
Unlimited HP, MP, remove all CD's and animations, "game" hacks - this means Amity and Bargaining, and of course the item hacks that allowed me to get all my gear in a day rather than a week. Sorry to all those that saw me get 2 Witch's Earrings in a span of minutes. I was doing it for science!"

Link for those interested in the full story.

Seems like BDO is truly pwnd. He also says there is a max HP/MP per level hack. This is just fucked up. GG BDO, GG.
And still you couldnt get a trial account, lvl to 50 in 1h and prove the existence of the hacks.

As CM_Jouska said, we're sorry for you if you need hacks to survive in BDO.

Honestly, i think you are a fukin liar.

PS: there are some hacks and movies with ppl hacking BUT this dude is so bad at this flame war.

Mmh yeah like if linking a blog that bashes MMORPGs (just the name should ring a bell) has any value. I wouldn't be surprised if the OP is actually trying to promote his bashing site.

Yeah this is the site that generally bashes MMORPGs...

This has been reported to Daum since beta.

As bad as the severity of hacks in game are, what's even worse is a complete lack of any code changes to address the actual problem.

Considering that the developer had known about this vulnerability for almost 2 years of it running in Korea...... I don't even know what to say at this point.

I used to be angry about this, now I just feel sadness when I think about it.
    This sums it up nicely.
