I really wanted to like it. I put in a good 30+ hours over the course of about a week and I just couldn't find myself drawn in. Its a fine game and I understand the appeal, but the title to this thread is false and largely opinionated.
I am personally finding more entertainment from Tree of Savior in the past 24 hours than I ever did from BDO.
Too each their own.ls
That's the mistake most of us do, actually I could do it also. Black Desert is a complex and very well thought out game with lots of little detais that makes huge diference . Its not fast food, you need to give it time to show itself in all its glory.
And thats exactly the weak point of BDO, most of us don't want to bother anymore, we need that feeling of satisfaction right from the begining.
Yup, like the fine wine that is cheating in pvp via hacks.
The cheating and hacks are real, but I don't know to what degree they are impacting the game. They haven't impacted my gameplay at all. You, and others, could certainly be right. BDO could suffer UO syndrome and be an otherwise good game completely ruined by bugs and hacks.
Been playing since
day one and I am amazed with the amount of bad information about the game.
The
amount of rushed reviews with shallow considerations is overwhelming and never
seen in years of mmorpgs releases.
I am an
mmorpg gamer since 2000 with Everquest and the only logic explanation for this
sheer amount of lousy revews and disinformation is that BDO was made by a
South Korean company and God forbid that one company from that side of the map
could come up with an MMORPG better then the last 10 years releases.
If you
try BDO and give it a chance to show its mechanics you will be amazed with this
beautiful game
This reminds me of that old bit: Are you man enough for a penile implant.

the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
AAHAHAHAHA...AHAHAHAHAHAHA....Ohhh my god!!! my stomach hurts so much from laughing!!! AHAHAHA...Ohh wait!! i get it now OP!!! Yes that's it!! I really am hurting myself by not playing BDO!!! AHAHAHAH..HAHAHAHAHA....AHHH..AHHhh...
See, you 'just don't get it, man!' LOL
I'll join you in that laugh, sir.

serious evey time I see someone posting thing like this I really think, damn the game is lacking a lot of people if the ones who like teh game need to post here to dup... I mean get more people to play it.
understand, this game is full of security holes, there is too many hacks already, random stats, some people complain about the lack of fashion in the game, plus daum closing the games for regional servers, with means less people to play and possible hate from it.
so yeah, most people are waiting for bless now to see if it fly or crash
so yeah, most people are waiting for bless now to see if it fly or crash
Bless is being published by Aeria, and even though I'll play Twin Saga when it comes out (being published by Aeria as well) I wouldn't get my hopes up on its 'success'
I had some fun when I tried BDO. The devs had some great ideas (and some strangely inept ones like client side cooldown timers!) Pity it wouldn't let me stay connected for long enough to really enjoy it though. Random disconnects on both NA and EU servers (mostly EU) plus the ridiculous cash shop (basically you buy the game then you have to spend even more money if you don't want to look like a sack of potatoes) make me give up on the game.
lunawisp was my peacebringer in City of Heroes. She lives on, in memory, as my gaming id

people hoped arche age would be a huge success with trion, but then well.... so yeah aeria is not that great but at least I don't remember aeria buchering the games they publish to just make a quick buck

All of aeria's games are tailored around making a quick buck....lol
DIdn't try BDO, don't intend to - too much other things to do (including to play).
But: How long do you have to try something - be it a game or otherwise - before you are allowed to judge it? Some say "you need to give it time" or "people want instant satisfaction". So what?
Why would i continue doing something that is not fun, on the off chance that it might become more fun later, when i can also do something that is fun all the time?
Unless you want to spend your life doing things you don't like, you have to set some kind of limit. For some, thats five minutes, for others, that might be 500 hours. Doesn't matter, as i might also only have five minutes fun after spending those 500 hours "waiting" for it, or i might have 500 hours fun straight away. It might also be that if i would not have dropped it after five minutes, i would simply continue not having fun for another 500 hours until i spent "enough time" and am "allowed" to drop it. Doesn't matter at all.
Spreading misinformation is one thing, simply stating "i played it till xyz and didn't like it" is perfectly valid, no matter what xyz actually is.
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
BDO is exactly what at least 50% of the PvP people on this website wanted and some of them are still complaining, in which case it's unlikely they will enjoy anything ever again. If BDO, Blade and Soul, Gw2 can't cure your PvP itch, idk what can or ever will. I love BDO and I have played since launch, and don't expect to stop playing if they keep adding to the beautiful world. There is a lot of exploration and PvE in this game too that often goes unnoticed because you might get ganked (rarely happens to me)
Then there is the PvE only players on this website who only enjoy games such as EQ1 and Project Gorgon. Exploration/Group based PvE games with crafting. This isn't technically the type of game I care about (i'd rather just play single player RPGs for this), but I do feel for them, it's been a long time since something like this has come around.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
Maybe I didn't explain myself well, maybe thats because english isn't my first language. What drove me into posting this thread is the negativity around this game produced not by the game itself but because it is not a western game, I am talking about discrimination .
And that is my opinion, off course you are entitled to yours, I thought it was obvious.
And I posted on this site because I am registered here for more then 10 years and consider this mmorpg site pretty fair on its reviews . As I said on the first post I played almost all mmorpgs since 2000 and that gives me some insight on the subject, you might not agree but its my opinion.
The objective of my post was to alert new players about the exagerated biterness of some people posting here

I tried it for 7 days. . .not once did it amaze me. Its like the girls I dated back in college, extremely pretty, but that's all.

I consider myself a gamer, well ... maybe less then I would like because of lack of time. Why would I be a liberal?
sayuu, People are complicated and complex. Even if you think someone is shallow or just pretty, if you don't give them enough time that is all what you will ever see.
You title to your post should be changed. Yes you are right there are some people who post incorrect things about the gameplay, etc...
But I haven't hurt myself at all by not playing it. I have many other games that I can enjoy and do enjoy everyday. I am not missing out on anything.
I simple refuse to play any game that uses Xingcode3 or one of the other third party instead of in house as its hacking protection. Xingcode3 itself is malware, it works just like a worm virus. You have to go in a manually delete the registry and files for it if you uninstall the game as those items are left in place. Unfortunately this is what is used by almost every developer in South Korea.
Having a worked with network security I just can't bring myself to install this crap malware on my systems.
Playing BDO and am having a great time in it, but, its just a game, nobody is going to be hurt because they didn't play it, you could after all make that statement about any game, like WoW or Eve Online, all awesome games and great at what they do, but hurt by not playing them.. As long as your having fun playing what ever games you are playing, does it really matter if you don't play X game as well?
Nah, not hurt at all. I'm not losing sleep over desync/rubberbanding, lame gear progression, crappy bosses, capped market, hackers, bugs, absurd cash shop prices, spammy combat, spam potions fest, etc. This is coming from 4 years wow, 6 months AoC and Warhammer Online, 1 year Rift, 3 years GW2 player. BDO is a "meh" mmorpg. I lost interest @ 3 weeks mark.
The game has potential but we are getting copy paste from S.Korea version with slight modification. You can see the future of this game, it won't change much from it's S.Korean version.
