I like D3 how it is now, but let's not forget the game at release. IMHO it was an abomination, glad Blizzard saw the light and fixed it.
I wish I could figure out how to make it interesting (for me).
Spent probably 40 hours leveling up a Crusader and Witch Doctor (both into their 30s or so) ay the hardest difficulty the game allowed me to use (Expert), and I did nothing but hold R2 or X down. For. Every. Battle.
It was simply a foolproof way to beat all of the content. I'm pretty sure, if memory serves correct, I never even died. I put it down once my Witch Doctor's R2 got runed to where he could channel it without a continuing mana cost. I no longer even needed to use X at that point; there was no way he could run out of mana.

I'm not finding the game challenging yet, but I do find it entertaining.
You're missing out if you didn't take the plunge, you've been warned, don't come vack here in a couple years and wish you would have started day one, you've all been warned and 10million cant be wrong.
here we go again. No one is missing out, not everyone wants the same thing from their games as you do, and yes 10 million CAN be wrong.
Personally I like Over watch, it is a well put together game that is polished and runs great. Exactly what I would expect from a Triple A game studio. Frankly, I would have been quite surprised at anything less form Blizzard. They have proven time and again that they can make games that appeal to the masses. Simple, easy to learn, easy to master and inviting to large amounts of people. However, there is nothing new or ground breaking in this game at all. That is fine, the game does what it is supposed to do for (obviously) a lot of people. It just does not excite me all that much. My time and money are much better spent on Battleborn (BB).
To me Battleborn has a much better advancement system, a smaller community so there is a lot more self policing going on (I have run into far fewer caustic players in BB) and I generally have a much better time in BB.
I could go on how I feel the people that are playing OW are missing out, but I won't as that would not be true. I feel like they are playing the game they want and having fun just like everyone else that isn't playing. No one is missing out, everyone is fine.
Have fun in your game.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
Even if it wasn't active players, 10 million units sold is impressive.
Blizz took a gamble on the FPS genre and it's paid off so far. It went from Project Titan MMO to Overwatch FPS. They ditched the MMO genre which was smart, considering how badly it currently is.
You're implying a meaning in the numbers that they didn't give. Nobody has said sales.

Is there a way of playing this game without buying the game ?

If it was sales they would say sales, when they don't it's because it's not.
Look up pc bang. In korea and china, you can pay a small fee to play Overatch in these very popular places. They also have many free access periods.

So you think Blizzard has access to these pc bang player numbers since they buy one box and share it among their users. What is the probability of a pc bang allowing Blizzard access to these records ? So would it not be more likely that Blizzard is counting the games they sold to these pc bangs rather than the players sharing the game ?

Interesting.
I wonder what Blizzard's cut is. There is definitely a difference between 10 million players and 10 million units sold.
Does not take away from the popularity of the game.

There has to be some sort of licensing agreement involved. Blizzard probably take a percentage for the time played.
Now I am confused the fact that more players gain access to Overwatch with this system is somehow detrimental to the figures because you are worried that Blizzard is not making the box price.
I get that you want to to show the difference between the players who pay for the game as opposed to those that play in the pc bang but if Blizzard can get more players with this method how does it make the game less popular ?
It's odd that games that are F2P are allowed to boast their player numbers but because it is Blizzard you have a higher standard for the 'player' definition.

They didn't say sales anywhere.
All they said was players, so if you are in Korea and pay a small fee for 2 hours playtime at a pc bang cafe you make an account on he blizzard Overwatch servers and now you're a player. It's that simple, these things are massively popular in China and Korea.

It doesn't take anything away from the game's popularity. I just takes away from the profits that posters imagine Blizzard has made from the title.

I guess that is important because some posters here own shares in Activision.

Overwatch is a success, that's all that matters if you like it.
I'm just pointing out the wording should not be misunderstood and that when they say players instead of sales there is a reason, whether they sold 5 million or 10 million. The game is a success (especially when you add on the mass amount they make from micro transactions), unless you're a shareholder that's all that matters.
So If you have 200 million Koreans seeing a Logo of Blizzard and then blizzard makes a Warcraft movie... you do the math on how that translates into $$$
If you're not into MOBAs (or PVP in general) then this game won't be for you. Unfortunately that is the group I belong to, so I won't get to enjoy the game like the rest of you...and I'm not hating at all. From what I've seen on Twitch, it looks impressive, but I do question its staying power. I play WoW, so I'm just amazed at all the love on display for Blizzard for a change. Lol
Don t agree at all. I know quite a few people that was not into these types of games in the least, and love OW. I can count at least 10 people I know, including my wife that loves OW, and hates these games.
Its just well made and enjoyable for a wide range of different playstyles.

there is a ghetto co-op that allows players to play against AI but it isn't as fun IMO even though you still rank up. there is an RPG element to this game, each character is a different class and you have the mmo style archetypes as well. healer, tank, dps, builder.
i question it's staying power as well but that's mainly due to the limited content the game offers.

I wish WoW was still a good MMO as well
