The Best MMORPG'?

Hello Everyone. I am looking to find out what MMORPG is the MOST liked. If your answer is NOT on the list, then please leave a response with it. I am *NOT* looking for games like STAR WARS; Yet games such as Asherons Call, and such. I am a huge fan of the single player game GOTHIC, And would love to hear of an MMORPG that has a simular graphics system if you know of one. And so everyone knows, my fav. MMORPG so far is a Korean game known as "Priston Tale" The graphics suck on it though, so I am looking for a new one. Feel free to list one that is coming out in 2004 also, I will be going back for some more AIT for the army soon, so I wont have a chance to play any MMORPG's until about June 2004.

Im not sure how anyone can honestly vote on this when some of the games dont even exist in a beta state yet and nobody and say if they are any good.

I was hoping some ppl would be doing pre-beta testing - Alpha Testing, maybe on the graphics engine, and such. I have done pre-beta's on games two years before their official release. So i'm just hoping someone has good advice. An MMORPG built on the Elder Scrolls, or Gothic graphics system would be awesome. Or am I the only one with a good enough computer to render that good of graphics? Thanks for ur input ppls.

Look... you can't go grouping Asheron's Call I/II in the same category! They are worlds apart, well 300 years as far as the story goes. I'd vote for AC but AC2 was a bit of a let down.

You know, I get that a lot about AC vs AC2.. I have only played AC 2 though. And I wasnt too impressed. Maybe I will try AC I... and WOW.. Well, I have never been a Warcraft fan.. Except 2 maybe. Tnx ppl

Yes, not only what everyone else has said, but you're missing like the 3rd most popular game in North America? (Or something around there) SWG. So, until I see WoW or EQ2, I'm going with Other.

ok ok.. You all have good points..

1) The reason SWG is not on there is it is too sci-fi for me, i was looking for more fantasy than sci-fi.

2) A LOT of People are in the EQ2 BETA Testing, that is why it is on there. I expected quite a few opinions.

3) I put WOW on there.. For no reason, I dont even think it is in BETA, so it should have not been on there, my bad. But, cant everyone just accept that blizzard cant make games worth a shite? and therefor not care if wow is on there because it is gonna suck anyways? Name one game blizzard has made that a 2 yr old couldnt make in Flash! with 2 min. of Actionscripting.

That does not matter. The point is that they have made nice, simple games that can provide a lot of fun. Hell, I'll play Tetris for days on end just to keep beating my previous score.

well if ur lookin to Beta test a great game i suggest you take a look at The Saga of Ryzom. this game has some honestly great potential in being one of the best MMORPGs of 2004 when its released. sign up for beta.

Well lets say for instance that I cared about what you said about Blizzard. Now: What can you do that a monkey on ether can't do with a stick that has crap on the end of it?

I voted for Shadowbane just to let you guys know. Grouping/Guilds are so much, and it leads to exciting raids! Better than FFXI where half the people speak japanese and you can't group with them but if you do it's for no aparent reason anyway because the gameplay is so linear and your just a clone of everyone. Phew, that was quite a rant.

BTW:

*Psst* If you haven't found out the answer to the rhetorical question the answer is: No. So please trying to not slander other programers hard work unless:

A. You have coded a multi-milliondollar piece of software by yourself.

B. You invented Pocky, if so, you are my god.

Umm.. You can't say it's going to suck because warcraft(which isn't even an MMORPG mind you) wasn't a good game. The only game Blizzard has made that's an RPG is Diablo and that was one of the best games ever made, tons of people (koreans mainly) are still trying to create their own game similar to it. People at Gen Con have already said that World of Warcraft has the best graphics they've ever seen in an MMORPG, I think you should take blizzard more seriously instead of saying a 2 year old could make the game in flash. World of Warcraft is only in alpha and they already look more prepared than SWG halfway through a year of their release.

blizzard this.. blizzard that.. even if you say that the games they have are simple, look how much money they make off of it. Even if you don't think it's good, alot more people think differently. Look how much money they made off their games compaired to other companies and their profits from games... stop whining..

oh yea, I also agree you can't put AC1 with AC2, so I voted for WoW

I personally think blizzard didn't make a diablo 3 because they were just going to be making a World of Warcraft as their only RPG. And they just want to focus on 1 and do a good job.

The best mmorpg I've played is Rubies of Eventide. The graphics imo are good, the community is superb as is the customer support and the combat system isn't as bad imo as other pppl sed it 2 be. Sadly it could only b runnin 4 anotha 6 months now , but hey nething cood happen.

Also on the topic of Blizzard wen i first discoverd Diablo I loved it and played it 4 a long time, havnt playd a Blizzard game in a yle tho, but I am lookin 4ward to WoW.

Your right! Diablo Slipped my mind! If your into a game that has little specs on the screen that kinda resemble characters that walk in only 8 directions that game has got to be awesome. And i'm sure you can expect the same quality in WoW.. seriously though guys.. If Diablo entertained you.. seek a good psychiatrist. Warcraft 3 .. lets not even go there.. for it's time i expected graphics twice as good as elder scrolls. Anyone who bought it deserved a refund. Warcraft 2 was good for back in the day. So was WC1.. BUT! Dont you think they should have updated their graphics engine in the past 10 years? And.. let the screen shots talk.. WoW doesnt stand a chance against EQ2..
