This is the game that I jokingly tell my nieces (who I share my phone with so they can play) that is working on bringing world peace. This is after they went on a walk through a path and came back to say everyone on the path was playing as well. Only real issue I have had since switching to Google account over my Pokemon Trainer account is that the GPS frightens me with where I shows I am sometimes.

Just turn it off when you're not playing. ;)

There are people suffering from depression and anxiety that are talking about having improved mental health due to Pokemon Go getting them out of the house. It's not surprising being that exercise is just as beneficial as some SSRI anti-depressants when it comes to alleviating symptoms of moderate depression. Game is huge. You can bet we're going to be seeing way more AR apps riding the bandwagon.

Just be aware of your surroundings. Last night's news people were getting mugged in St. Louis at Pokestops, I assume. Muggers would lie in wait at these stops until someone showed up, guess at least 4 muggings. Sucks this world we now live in can suck the fun out of everything!

There were at least 1k ppl out and about in the museum/conventional area and the seawall last night. More than I gave ever seen. And all the ppl we bumped into were courteous and friendly. Not really a fan of Pokémon but they may be onto something here.

I think what really interests me is that when I see all of these people out, I think.. "There is no way this is happening all over the country"  but it is.  It's happening everywhere.  I can't say I've seen anything like it.

It's kind of the perfect storm. The technology is good enough and available so easily. combine that with an extremely well known and nostalgic IP that was always built around this collection and friendly competition atmosphere.

you can have a real world MMO this way....

The phone projecting your avatar in the real world... allowing it to fight other people and do quests...

To bad its juvenile pokemon, but the idea behind this game certainly will have some offspring....  just imagine everyone going to the park, because there is a virtuall worldboss sighted there...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Unfortunately I don't think it will last long, at least not at this popularity. Myself I was upset to see how they snuck exercise and socializing into my gaming. It was a low blow as far as I'm concerned.

Ingress has been around for a while. It's an "augmented reality" game that has people going to real world locations in order to capture portals for their faction https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingress_(video_game)

Walking around and talking to people is sort of a thing humans do. Now there's a fun little game to encourage people to do more of it.

Ingress is a way better game than pokemon, its more thought out, more complicated and combat centered.

I loved Ingress! When I first started playing it years ago, I knew it would be the springboard for future gaming.

Ingress is a better game, but Pokemon has the name Pokemon attached to it so it is more popular :)

I played ingress a few years back... it was interesting but didn't keep me entertained much.  I think one thing Pokemon has going for it, is that you can pretty much be anywhere and still play.  Open the app, and you might have something just outside.. or down the block,  it isn't just monuments and milestones,  you can find stuff anywhere.

That's the beauty of it: simple, family friendly and fun for all ages !

Ironically, that very combination probably also limits its lifespan, but you can't have everything.

I definitely see an impending burnout in a few months time unless they severely add some more lasting content.

There was an interview posted somewhere around here where they laid out all their future plans so they have a lot of additions planned to flesh out the game.

I can see real PvP taking place with real guns if something goes as bad as it gets inside an mmo (ninja looting, etc). And dont get me started on barren chat IRL. I think we are better off playing from our houses.

Well, they've only released GEN1 ... and then you also have the fact that we will most likely be getting dueling .. which will be disgustingly popular on top of the trading that we'll have soon.

This game won't die down anytime soon.

We have been given a small sliver of the bank of pokemon that they will give.

PS - All mammals have nipples.

    Get over it already.

@klash2def and @LexDomino  the mods aren't here 24/7 sometimes it just takes a little before they can sift through all the reported posts.  Best thing to do is report it and not quote it because then the mods will have to sort through every quote and delete along with the original infraction.  No it isn't welcome here and yes its wrong just doesn't warrant me going all crazy when it will be deleted soon and forgotten.
