I was just curious, who here plans to or is Boycotting all SOE products because of how they have treated their customers with the NGE?

Also, anyone planning on Boycotting LA?

*If you are Boycotting either, I do encourage you to send them a letter... you'ld be surprised on the effect...

I boycott both at this time. Currently LA is standing behind SOE so they support SOEs decisions.
That is a point, that is beyond speculation. So, they are both equally liable for the mess that is SWG.

I extend my boycott to all Sony products(which is really hard thanks to sony pictures). Sony as a company got started by ripping off intellectual property 55 years ago, and not much has changed since(the guy that founded Sony stole the design of an American tape recorder that a G.I. staioned in Japan gave him to repair). Great company.

I am boycotting all of Sony's products not just SOE, between SWG and the root kit messes Sony does not deserve my hard earned dollar. Their corporate culture seems to have evolved into one where the customer is the enemy and we have to teach them who the boss is. An attitude that will end up biting them in the ass.

I don't see that attitude at LA, maybe some ignorance about the MMO market but for the most part I have enjoyed their products.

Won't buy anything with the $ony name on it, no music, no DVD's, no electronics, no PoS3 and sure as hell no games from $OE. I almost feel bad for DC comics, as I won't even think of trying their MMO since they are letting $OE do it, and I bet a lot of burned $OE customers won't give it a chance either.

As for LucasArts, while I think Torres and Nancy "too much reading, Kill loot repeat" are complete tools, I still don't mind LA published games. Empire at war was fun, I'll get the new Lego Star Wars 2 game, and I have usually been happy with their games.

$OE can burn in hell though.

Hmmm....

1. The Audio equipment is crap (in the 80s/early 90s it was okay)
2. They pulled out of the US PDA market
(and failed to be sucessful there)
3. The anti-priacy software which should have been
prosecuted under the DRM was beyond horse crap
4. There are plenty of midle tier movie producers
so, why pay Sony Picutres?
5. The camers maybe okay, but Canon blows them away
as does Kodak.
6. The laptops and desktops are overpriced

So, in conclusion, I see no compellling reason to do business with
them away. A boycott is easy, since I never bough Sony anyway.
And now, I just don't look at it.

However, I've avoided buying LA games lately. Yesterday I was looking at KOTOR and wanted to buy it, but won't right now. I also loved the demo of Empire at War and really wanted to get it. As long as LA continues to perpetuate this horrendous farce of NGE and lets SOE continue to give the middle finger to its customers, all in the name of Star Wars, then I will refrain from buying any LA products.

Of course, SOE will NEVER see another dime of my money. (Unless they apologize profusely and bring back Pre-CU. I just wouldn't be able to resist playing Pre-CU again. But since I doubt that will happen, my money is safe in my wallet... until my wife gets to it... )

I am now looking for a new tv and I'm not even considering any product from Sony... Same with LA, I am not going to buy any of their present/future titles, even if I want to...

But anyway it won't change things. We players of SWG are just a ridiculously tiny ammount of the population, and people will be attracted by their products even if they know what they did to their customers.

Still, I will Boycott SOE and LA

I'm not going to purchase any Sony products so my hatred to SOE extends to its mother company. I'm also very angry at LA because I think that George Lucas somewhere along the road lost touch with that great vision he had. I can't believe he works +15 years and all he can come up with for starters is Jar Jar Binks!!?? A stab in the back for the old-school fans... There are many things wrong with LA at the moment and I'm turning towards smaller independent developing houses.

I'm not only boycotting SOE products, I boycott every product with a "Sony" brand on it. in my opinion Sony is responsible for every of its customers...

no mather if its the online service, an electronic product or anything else...

Sony has to watch what it's employes are doin with the brand and the company and since John Smedley did not get fired yet and stays as a SOE president I will keep on boykotting like many others do...

I would never buy or try another SOE product, and I would discourage anyone I come across from trying their products as well. Their poor customer service, downright nasty attitude towards customers in what should be a give and take environment, we all play for fun and they haven't a clue as to what fun is.

I was looking for an MP3 player recently and avoided all the SONY models because the name is a red flag after all of this.

Lucasarts...I blame the 500 pound gorilla for letting SOE treat people the way they do. Sitting by quietly doing nothing makes them as guilty as if they had been chiming in publicly all along. So I would be unlikely to try a MMORPG from LucasArts no matter who they pair with, but I am a fish and a longtime fan of their games and will probably still buy their other types games from LucasArts.

Good Intentions? WTF?! Their only good intentions were making more money by targeting another demographic with the game. Smed and his cronnies have said it many times, "the license wasn't bringing the numbers it should've", "the game was too complex"... Hell! They even blamed "lack of armor". So please, spare me the good intentions crap!

While I am quick to state I'll NEVER buy another SOE game or Sony product, it could happen, given certain conditions, ie aerial pigs, snowballs, in hell and the Saints winning the Superbowl....

This is not necessarily true. I wrote letters to all divisions of Sony, and got 3 letters back. One was generic, one was an apology, and one was a detailed (hand signed) apology that said it would pass on my concerns and comments to Sony Corp. Now, this may be because over the last 5 years I've bought and registered over 50k of Sony products, or it may be because I mentioned that in my former job I signed of on all electronic purchases. Whatever it was, it got someone's attention.

Remember, write in campaigns get things changed ALL the time. It only takes 13k people or so, or even fewer. Why? Because when Sony looks at us they see $igns. We're their core market: 20-40 Electronic Freaks.

Write them... I bet you'll be surprised.

Actually, they acted extreamly unethicly. The BBB agreed they did, as do a number of media outlets.

I would certainly be interested in getting some letters out. Lord knows I have the time. After all, the reason I'm missing SWG so very badly is that I can't seem to find anything to take its place. I've tried some other games but nothing comes close to that warm fuzzy feeling I lost. Now my evenings are spent reading the various forums, crying in my drink, and trying to manufacture Muon in my basement....just can't find the right combination.....(sigh).

Boycotting for me is a given, they have nothing to offer me that is of interest. But I can guarantee that any games (of any company) I try in the future will be throughly investigated before purchase, discussed in both forums/ websites of relation and amongst my friends.

Could anyone please provide me with links or website information as to the addresses? I could find them I'm sure, but with my luck instead of reaching their intended address they would end up on the lower basement janitor's office....which might be their ultimate destination anyway. You know..the room with the shredder and trash compactor.

Writing has an inpact because it takes effort, and when someone is willing to make an effort to tell you something you know they're passionate about it. Even large companies can have their ear bent if enough people write.

I can also tell you that NO COMPANY likes to hear that you won't buy their products because of something someone else did in a different part of their company.
