After reading the reactions to FFXIV delay and how people made up things to disprove the news, I am not gonna bother reading that link. This happens EVERY time. People can't separate their own private dreams and fantasies from reality. Damned vaccines....
The link is not a rant filled with hyperbole. On the contrary the creator of the post went to great lengths in order to document and validate his claims with solid info.

Lol, I especially liked the part about collecting shit with your shit collecting gun, then move to the next planet and do it over again.

Not that I think theres anything wrong with NMS, its pretty much exactly what I expected. Not nearly as extravagant as a hand made world to explore, but its fun. People who expected more probably just let their imagination run away with them. Its happens to everyone but I'm pretty much impervious to that stuff at this point.

I don't play the game, and never will. I have said it before and will say it again though that if we as consumers of these games continue to allow developers to lie to us, or to make about faces on features and hide behind vague explanations things will continue to get worse and worse for us. We need to take a collective stand or this will become the norm.
You're playing it off as the consumers fault is a prime example. I don't mean to point a finger at you directly, and it isn't personal, but it is a part of why we can't have nice things.

Got to say that is ridiculous...

As others have said this is not rocket science.

    1. Wait for games to release.

    2. See reviews and streams.

    3. If game appeals to you AS IT REALLY IS not some hype. Buy it.

Anyone that does not do the above has ZERO reason to bitch and moan, no matter what the hype was. No matter what issues a game has.

Everything else here and on any other forum or site is just so much noise. Until a game comes out that auto charges your CC or bank account, no one can bitch about buying a game. There is too much info out there for anyone with a lick of sense.

But of course we see how much sense most gamers have.  There has never been a game released that waiting a few days or a week could not tell everyone that was interested in it what to expect.

Gamers are one of the most pathetic groups of people anywhere.  Act like this stuff is really important.

So you are saying its ok for a dev to lie and that they should not be held accountable for what they say?

he hasn't lied the only liars i see here are the ones bashing a game they haven't played.

Hello games doesn't care at this point, they are taking their $60 per box to the bank and laughing at all the suckers that hyped it to the skies for them.

Who is more to blame? The fanbois who hyped this thing, or the naive gamers that bought the BS?

NMS is not even a bad game, it is just not a AAA game or a $60 game.

And complaining about it now after you already bought it is not going to do much of anything.

Sorry, but NMS is more of a AAA game than most of the outright broken or endlessly recycled garbage the big three ( EA / ActiVision / Ubisoft ) have released in recent years!

I am currently having more fun in NMS than in some of those "other" games hyped by these big studios.

It runs flawlessly on my PS4 and it runs flawlessly on my PC (after a few tweaks in graphic settings. Took me less than a minute ).

People have been overhyping themselves, just like they have been doing with countless other games in the past. To the point that dissapointment is inevitable!

This time, I have completely ignored all the hype and it has paid off for me, I am deeply enjoying the game, because I went in without expectations.

PS. It was the same with Destiny. I completely ignored all the hype and I played and enjoyed that game on my PS4 for more than 18 months straight with family and friends.

    This.

NMS is a large step in the right direction compared to most of the AAA titles released or to be released. It deserves to be praised and deserves revenue as we need more games like this!

Pls no more fps zombies and military /goat simulators and shite like that.

The only kind of say Sony has would involve money.

So, whatever pressure they felt to lie and deceive their audience is about money.

    Again, money is the reason.
    It's usually not that simple.

Sony clearly had spent BIG money on marketing NMS, even if Hello Games wanted a big delay on the game and had intentions of continue dev further to what they wanted to do... It's possible that Sony didn't wanted to Gamble their money on Further Delaying NMS. Further increasing the backlash for several delays in a row.
I'm afraid that changes nothing about why they would deceive their audience.

There's literally no other reason than to push the product.

In what "EXACTLY" has he deceived and lied about?

I have yet to see any clear evidence of an outright lie or deliberate deceit.
The whole point of the reddit thread was that it clearly listed the sources used. Sean also said in one interview about players being killed by other players, which was later used to 'prove' that there was PVP in the game, which turned out to be totally false. Giant space battles that players could choose sides and join in on, also not in the game.
The 'exactly' part that he has made, if we're going to be kind, misleading statements about, is fairly lengthy.

Dude. No offense. But that Whole thread is just sickening into the extreme.

You can pretty much make plenty of other threads about almost every single other game out there (especially MMO's), where Developers talk and boast about game features that end up being cut, delayed, whatever due to budget and time constraints.

    This game is no different.

People have been screaming and ranting for years being fed up by these big studios throwing out the same recycled garbage games out of the gate very single year and that there is no longer any inovation within the game industry anymore and how everyone is playing safe.

Now we finally have a Indy Company doing exactly that. Innovating and trying something new.
They get completely ripped apart, because sertain features didn't make it in the final game.

At least he didn't falsely advertise, like Gaute and Erling did with Age of Conan, putting features on the back of the gamebox that aren't even in the game!

That was far far worse. Then you actually have the right to complain and talk about deceit and blatant lies.

If you read the PS4 gamebox, description on PS gamestore and on Steam or NMS website for that matter.
There is NOTHING there that Points to false advertisement nor presenting features that are not in the game!

So, if Sean Murray claimed the game had an epic multiplayer cooperative campaign - it would be ok, so long as the box itself didn't say "cooperative multiplayer campaign"?

    That's what you're saying, right?

That what's on the box is the only thing that matters, and if developers claim it has all these cool features that it doesn't have - that's no problem, because people can just check the box for each of them actually being there or not?

this right here, what is currently happening on these forum threads and the internet. society's rampant thirst for information that needs to be given out sooner and sooner. It's your own dam fault for wanting to know all these things he said three years ago and wondering why they aren't in the game at release. MAYBE if we just marketed the game 2 months before release instead of 3 years we WOULD ACUTALLY NOT BE COMPLAING ABOUT STAR CITIZEN, NO MANS SKY, Camelot Unchaind, Chronicals Of Elaria? AND ALL OTHER BULLSHIT GAMES THAT ARNT EVEN RELEASED YET. (no man's sky is released.) in other words if you don't want to be let down try this one for size. discover some game that your really interested in and try the best not to learn anything more until its released and even then go watch it on twitch to confirm its what you want. instead of imagining your own that's on what your game can do and not what the developers created.

Well while its true what you say, at the same time its true that they added two more ingredients into the game development recipe. They took the survival open world genre to the air and universe and they effectively used procedural generation.

Thats the part we need to support and cheer. INNOVATION.

Because the same old crap being released for ps4 and pc from aaa publishers is making me cry.

I dont agree. when comparing NMS with AAA NMS appears to be the EXACT same forumla as a AAA game.
Simple, basic, few options, max in a few days, easy to read fonts (which I have to say is the best thing about AAA games) and simple controls as long as you use a controller

    but boring as balz
Well while its true what you say, at the same time its true that they added two more ingredients into the game development recipe. They took the survival open world genre to the air and universe and they effectively used procedural generation.

Thats the part we need to support and cheer. INNOVATION.

Because the same old crap being released for ps4 and pc from aaa publishers is making me cry.
    i disagree

    1. we should not be doing AAA companies favors by hyping up a game that has an indie feature (procedural genertation) so that AAA companies can then have a clue. AAA needs to shit or get off the pot and they should not need our help on that

    2. within AND ONLY WITHIN the AAA market those items you mention is something new for that market. For the indie market IT IS NOT.

NMS is an Indie game. 15 people made this game.
    1. i dont think the number of developer matter oh and as a side note 15 devs for an indie project is actually a HUGE indie project.

    2. I have a theory on all this based on an article I read a long time ago which said AAA companies are thinking of creating 'indie studios' so they can distance themselves from AAA and get on the indie bandwagon. Now I do not see any evidence that his happened with NMS but if you put the tinfoil hat on you can quickly see how this entire projects smells EXACTLY like a AAA pretending to be an indie

NMS may have been developed by an indie team, but they are charging prices you expect from AAA titles, with that is the expectation of the same kind of quality, there would probably be far fewer complaints about the game if it had retailed at $25 as that price point + indie status, then players would be a bit more understanding and perhaps forgiving of the game being a bit incomplete and there being issues with hitching etc.
If you pay $60 for a game, you expect to get a $60 game.
