I noticed they aren't show casing their combat mechanics. Red flag one. Or their UI.
Of course, that is a good point and I will "hold off" doing any purchasing until I see that stuff.
Some small insights to how DnL combat mechanics might be from what little I know of the equivalent revealed by Snail Games for AoW2 - but mindful that these may not the same for DnL:
1. Projective weapons use a targeting reticle system - projectives in flight have both trajectory and rotation physics. 2. Hitting different body parts in combat can do different damage - e.g. head smashing can be effective. 3. AoE damage does collateral damage - e.g. if you spray an enemy in a crowd, your party members in melee with the enemy and NPC bystanders can get hurt.
Reminder again, the above is for AoW2, not necessary DnL.

That probably means they can sell expensive "Founder Packs" and other monetization strategies associated with EA launches. People love paying for the chance to be "first" in the game world...
"Snail games will be soliciting fans' input regarding game mechanics including questing, leveling, dungeon design and PvP."
So after all this time - they still dont have these core systems nailed down?
Seriously?
I'm with you on this one, this game is making me extremely suspicious. Nothing is being shown, no advertising at all, and talk about features not even being in the game. I get the feeling the game is still in Alpha at this point, and has a long ways to go.

My guess this is black gold online 2.0 with DnL skin.
Looked on Snail's portfolio, I don't think this is going to be DnL that people have hoped for.

I'm interested, but I'll hold out until I know more about it.
I've heard some worrying things. Apparently it's going to use FPS action type combat (horrible!). But worst of all, I think I read somewhere that it's actually going to be played from a first person perspective!
If that's true, then I'm out! I get motion sickness and first person games make me very sickie poo!

to be fair many people (like myself) find Early Access to be extreemly awesome and very likely the best thing to ever happen to gaming. most of my favorite games of all time covering 34 years of gaming are in or where in Early Access

How is this game releasing this year and all they have is a pre-rendered trailer with no actual gameplay or features? I know more about Kickstarter "vaporware". Here we go...
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
Dark and Light News - Snail Games has announced that the much-anticipated Dark & Light will be heading to Steam early access later this fall. Dark & Light is an open sandbox world that blends the 'normal' MMO experience with survival mechanics.
You know what would be nice? If you could preface the title of these posts with name of the game. On your front page, all I see is a generic title and the category "News and Feature Discussion". I have to click on the link and start reading to get to the point of saying, "Why am I reading this? I don't give shit about this game."
Do people even realize that this game has been in developments for a very very long time. The day that a chinese studio bought the rights almost 5+ years ago? That the chinese version has been live for many years? They are simply globalizing the game and using a new game engine....

I will have a ton of fun reading the reviews of a game that was just recently tagged as

That would work for a game that is also PVE and has PvE servers, right?

Considering it is Snail games has a very "underwhelming" track record with MMOs and CS in the West, they can bite me.
And considering what a mess and borderline scam this game was the first time around, they can bite me.
So basically, as far as buying this game "pre-release" goes, they can bite me.
