At least the combat will be similar to more traditional MMOs. BDO's combat was too different with all the combos. It's still going to be AOE hack-n-slash combat though.
Another reason? Why not? If someone offers you free cake you better damn well try it. If I don't like the cake, that's OK, at least I tried it. I like cake.
You could list 50 reasons and they still wouldnt outweigh the reasons not to even bother...Free to play which is code for the main reason...Pay to Win.
That and your list is really only three things because three of the things you list come under the same umbrella...PvP. Which circles around to my reason for not playing it. When a game is this heavily focused on PvP and its a free to play game youre surly going to see pay to win in it, if not at launch very soon after.
Its best just to ignore these games rather than play them or get caught in the hype and then be disappointed once everything is unveiled.

I read it's just another P2W with the same BIS mechanics as other eastern mmo's like AA with an RNG crafting/upgrading system tied to the cash shop. I'll pass.
Well not that your cynicism isn't understandable, but you could make that argument about any eastern game. I always try to have a wait and see attitude although it does get more difficult the more you see the same scenario repeated. Maybe at some point someone will wake up and stop repeating the mistakes.
The whole "pay to win" thing is a tough thing to quantify though. Obviously any game that is F2P is going to try to get you to spend money for something. Game studios are not charities, they are for profit businesses so I don't expect something for nothing. I think the real question at this point is how much pay to win is too much rather than a yes or no to that question. Some games are low on the scale and others you literally have to invest thousands of dollars if you want to have any chance of being competitive. I think it's too early to tell with this game because we haven't seen the cash shop. It certainly has the potential for abuse, so the question is valid, I just don't want to pre-judge it before they have a chance to present their plan.
OMG, The first comment is so true. Sounds like Aion, which aint half bad. But It seems like a fresh take on it and updated graphics. Now about all this hype though....................

Number 1 biggest fail is the yellow question marks over npc heads, such a retarded idea and immersion breaker.
Movement animation is yet another hidden dragon crouching tiger,so in other words, very unrealistic movement. Terrible looking spam of weapon swings,,it carries every stereotypical Asian bad game design behind it. As to last poster question....It is not a matter of bored of it,it is more a matter of i want a RPG world not a unrealistic connect the yellow question marks computer code. I just shake my head in disbelief,do devs/producers not look around at the genre and think "wtf is this idea doing in a rpg"?It seems they just keep copying bad ideas over and over.
A perfect example of "retarded" game design ideas...Every skin color choice is normal but then they toss in a green color for skin...WTF ?it is like a couple system designers sitting there going over realistic skin tones then both have a drunken brain fart .."WHOA i think green would be a cool color to add in".

In case anyone is wondering what people are talking about, when they mention the dolphin skill and prancing, watch this video.
Well, now I'm just sad.
Woah this game is ultra asian looking. It makes bdo look gritty and realistic. Maybe there will be enough good gameplay mechanics to help over look the style.
Open world pvp is NOT optional, you need to flag yourself to be able to attack other players, but you cant opt out of it, everyone can attack you and you can attack everyone
5.) CASTLE SIEGES! - Translation: horrible lag. Yet you need it if you want to get that cool PvP armor.
4.) MULTIPLE CONTROL SYSTEMS - Translation: does not really work well with any of them, but one will be a touch more tolerable and everyone will use that anyway.
3.) MEANINGFUL GUILDS - First of all, most of the games had it since... ever. Second - grind, grind and grind once more to get and maintain those "benefits".
2.) OPTIONAL OPEN WORLD PVP - "PvP tokens grind for getting and holding titles and gear"
1.) A HEALTHY MIX OF PVP AND PVE - Translation: "we are as unfocused as any other game, making life inconvenient for both crowds. Same as anywhere".
Bah. I watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. That's nothing.
Edit: I actually would like a mmorpg went full bananas anime bullshit for once. Quite tired of this mid area between goofy/fan service and serious fantasy.
It looks like the game uses the same engine as many other action driven mmos.... Weird.
First thing that came to mind was Jojo's.
Though this looks like another Blade & Soul. Is it the same empty open world and lobby based game? What I'm saying is it a small group multiplayer pretending to be an MMO.
Actually this game is a huge open world game, similar to Lineage 2. The combat has 3 styles. You can change on the fly. Action combat, Tab target, and Point and click.
If ArcheAge was like this I'd still be playing it.
ArcheAge is much better than this for me
And this is where I am thankful all games are not made to your tastes lol. Between AA and Trove I'm not sure I could trust your word on what a good game is. AA IMO is one of the worst games I have ever played.
It's a new game to play for 2-6 weeks before moving on to the next new game.
Repeat x infinity
I agree, but to me that is a symptom not the problem. It's a hard problem to nail down, but I think it has to do with the lack of potential a lot of these new games have. You play for a few weeks, and level cap or not you realize it's just more of the same for the foreseeable future. At that point a new game has vastly more potential . . . until you realize it's just the same.
I bounce around between games now, but I dedicatedly played SWTOR and Wildstar until it got to the point where I lost confidence in their devs.
So as far as I'm concerned, the reason why this relationship isn't working out between us Generic MMORPG, it's not me it's you.

So. Many. Facepalms.
Also...Gravity? Does it exist in this world or can you just fly around looking all ridiculous?
Just no.

Ashame all those mmo's like Archeage / BDO and now this one never keep you or your guild entertained for longer then 1 to 3 months.
Then you see 1 guild where all the wallet warriors and geared as fuck people go to dominate everything and make the game extremely boring.
Been there done that.
