OK I'm intrigued! But the one of the things I actually found kind of sad is all these people in the commercial in beautiful locations staring at a tiny screen. :/

Looks cool. Not interested in the mobile aspect as much. Just hoping Nintendo has a market competitor this time around.

i know it was depressing when the girl playing mario saw her friends out the window and then had to descide friends or games. the really depressing part was she choose friends but didint leave the games at home.

Uninspired advertising. That said, it looks like Nintendo may have a great product on their hands.

Its cool but just not for me.

If the Price is right this thing could do very well for Nintendo.

Didn't think they could make something as bad as Wii U. This comes really close though.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

I hope Nintendo would launch a version that would also work as Android phone.

Not interesting unless you travel lots for work and spend lots of time in hotel rooms.

When I go outside I want to enjoy the world around me, not have my face in a small screen and oblivious to real life

Far too much of that kind of poo already with cell phones.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I'm not going to judge the system yet, but that video is awful. "Do you hate having a dog because you can't play video games while you take it for a walk? Do you get upset when there aren't video games at the basketball court? Aren't parties without video games the absolute worst? If you answered yes then the Nintendo Switch will help you realize how pathetic you are!"

Never thought the advert was going to end, pretty over the top add though lol. Taking it on the plane is a yes. Taking it to basketball with mates then having a console match when all you wanna do is take a shower is a fat no.

You have to be an avid tendo but to want this gimmick.

Part of me really loves this, but as buscaa said, it's all about the games. One of Nintendo's problems, ever since the N64, has been creating consoles that it's difficult or impossible to put the latest games for other systems on, which means they tend to end up with weak third party support, and all the good games are made by Nintendo itself. I'm guessing this will end up in more or less the same boat, since the specs will probably have to be lower than the other major systems. Seeing Skyrim on it is cool, but Skyrim's almost seven years old. The choice to show it in the trailer was obviously a very strategic one. It's something that still causes people to say, "Whoa, cool, Skyrim!" but doesn't require up-to-date hardware to run.

All of that said, I love the design of this thing. I agree about all the separate little pieces potentially being easy to damage or lose, but I think that's a minor quibble. I've waited for ages to see a major console that properly marries portability with home TV gaming, and now that Nintendo's the one doing it, maybe we'll finally get one.

If they put a console-quality Fire Emblem on this thing, they can have my firstborn son.

Here's the crazy part. They'll probably be willing to part with a copy without even requiring the kid. :-P

I like this idea a lot. I own a 3ds and a Wii U. But I tend to get on my Wii U more, just because I don't enjoy mobile gaming all that much. But melding both together for one device is perfect. I can play monster hunter and games like that on my TV instead of having to play it on my 3ds, and also be able to take my games on the go if I go on a trip or something. I think Nintendo may have a great idea on their hands.

What would be great is if that media slot could play 3DS games that don't require dual screen support. Look at that huge back catalogue of ready to play games.

Oh, so its you. Why are you pasting this in every place with the reveal?

It doesn't say or pass the image you hate your dog. It is showing you don't need stop playing if you have to leave the room.

Leave that kind of shitty comment on tumblr or Facebook where it belongs.

It's one copy/paste, jeez. I'm lazy. Big whoop. And it's true. The video is basically saying "Don't let video games prevent you from leaving the house." Games are cool. I play a lot myself. But this marketing strategy is ridiculous. Bringing video games to a basketball court is pathetic.

That's cool and all. However, I think my next and possibly last Nintendo purchase will be their Classic Mini that Santa will probably bring for my son this Xmas.

    Hmmm

I personally think this is going to bomb. Hard. This is coming from someone who has a Wii U and I actually think the Wii U is a good console.

This is yet another console from Nintendo that is sending out mixed messages. Who is it really for?

Its not for "core" gamers - its too small and focused on portability to really appeal to the core gamer crowd (which is the crowd that spends the most amount of money over the longer periods of time). Its not for the casual Wii crowd as its not making use of motion controllers again. Its not really for kids as it'll be too expensive for parents to trust them with at school. Do businessmen really need a whole console designed for them?

The console may well end up having good games and I'm a fan of Nintendo, but it's yet another product with a shit name and completely mixed messages about intended audience.

I wish them all the best, its obviously early days so I'll hopefully have to change to my opinion as more information is released, but for now, first impression is it's a crap idea.

It's just marketing. Do you think they really want you to take the game to the beach or the basketball court? If they are going to show you how portable it is, how fun is it to watch a commercial in seven different living rooms? Sometimes you have to tell a story to uncover the message being presented.
Happily playing Vanilla and BC WoW, again, since September 2016.

I was trying to size it up in the little flashes where they showed the slot to see if it was a 3DS sized slot. I'd do split screen on the TV for that back catalog.

If it doesn't play 3DS games then they missed big time.
