Nothing against BDO but you are comparing it to games that have been out for years.

I am only showing that Black Desert Online is doing very well.
Black Desert is a unknown mmo from Korea that has been ported over to the West and is doing better here than anything in the West other than WoW.
Lets not forget that Black Desert is also in Korea and Russia.
People said it was dead in Korea so it would fail here. / Wrong
People said it was Pay To Win and that would destroy the game. / Wrong
People said everybody has left the game. / Wrong
Black Desert is simply one of the best mmos out and is still one of the most played. It is a success no matter how people do not want to see it as one.
The game has proved people wrong and continues to do so.
BDO was fun for me at first, but then it starts to feel like the developers have zero creativity. The game definitely needs better end game content.
PvE End Game = Grinding on the same boring mobs over and over and over again. PvP End Game = Get ganked while you're trying to grind on the same boring mobs over and over and over again.
I redownloaded yesterday to try it again. I will say it is still quite full. The sheer numbers of boats in the harbor at Velia is a little intense.
EDIT:
I'll also add it was hilarious going through my mail with all of the "compensation" they have handed out since I last played in June. I had like 3 pages of "gifts" for "downtime" that I never experienced since I wasn't playing. Got a free witch's earring just for logging in hehe
happy for you. I enjoyed BD but I felt like the pvp endgame was kind of an empty goal so i stopped playing. A non-anime, more than two frame per animation (in combat) version of this game would be even better.

A game doing well on Twitch, means its doing well on Twitch, nothing more.
Actually i just checked twitch, its not doing well, BDO that is, oh the figures the OP quoted are correct, what he fails to mention is just how far down the list of games being streamed BDO is, its even several below Diablo II, seriously, it is less popular than Diablo II which has 2500 viewers, but hey, BDO is narrowly beating Farming Simulator for viewers, by 99 viewers, what an awesome result
WoW has 38,135 viewers. Runescape 8,093 viewers.
Basically, for the games at the bottom of the pile, BDO is doing pretty well

Could it be that MMORPGs are more fun to play than watch? I mean, Idunno.........
I don't care if BDO is going strong or not, just want to say that
viewers on twitch doesn't translate to server/game population, except
the ones at the top 10.
Any famous streamer can push high numbers
alone. Ragnarok Online had 1.5k viewers some weeks ago, does that mean it's more popular than ESO and GW2?
Black
Desert has 2k viewers right now, but 1 russian streamer currently have
1.2k viewers, when he goes offline BDO loses half its viewers.
BDO
is super slow on reddit, meanwhile games with less viewers on twitch
have more active subreddits, why? FFXIV: 101k subscribers on reddit,
1.5k online. BDO: 35k, 400 online...

I don't follow streaming, but I am under the impression that these are all about PVP sessions. And as such are more about the individual sessions, the streamer's popularity and the PVP itself and less about the actual game they are logged into......
Well, that's at least what I assumed, someone correct me if that is wrong.
People just do not have a clue and dont even try to do research before they open their mouth. No wonder why Western MMOs devs have threw in the towels.

I would certainly hope so, but as i said, popular on twitch just means something is, popular on twitch, there is no deep meaning to any of it.
Doesn't mean you can't use it for entertainment purposes though

Personally i blame Hello magazine, those guys, they get me they really do.
wait.. what do you mean that has nothing to do with anything?

Can you link comparison of actual vs. budgeted profit for the western release? Or did you use some other basis for claiming that the game is succeeding in the west. If so, what basis did you use?
I want to tell you what really impressed me about Daum / Kakao.
When everybody was saying Pay To Win they simply stood up and said if you do not like it then leave.
If anybody does a charge back then you will be banned.
The reason this game is a success is because they stuck to what THEY believed in and did not bend to the vocal minority who will never be happy no matter what a company does.
Those same people now have their tails tucked, back to floating the forums with nothing to play while waiting on some already dated looking kickstarter project talking about how the genre is dead and how they miss vanilla.

It has been one of the top mmos on Twitch since release. I was amazed that it was still doing so well.
Well, that's at least what I assumed, someone correct me if that is wrong.
Released on Oct 24 and already has Very Positive 1,299 reviews.
