My favorite mmo? Asherons call. I remember the first time i logged in it was raining in game. After wondering around for a bit a more seasoned player had me come indoors, explained to me what i should do and invited me to be a vassle. It may seems silly but its little memories like that that makes a mmo feel alive.
Asherons call was always the standard i held for my 15 a month. Changing seasons, an evolving story, towns being destroyed, a very interesting pvp "faction". Every few months a patch brought something interesting.
You wernt the chosen one, the world its self was the main character, and it was fantastc.
Going to go with UO. Such freedom and complexity yet done in a way that it was still fun. I am hoping something else can come along and figure out how to replicate that experience in the modern world on mmo's.
My favorite MMO is TSW. The missions/quests are just as good as any single player rpg (they're not just fun and challenging, they're also very addicting).
The atmosphere in TSW is by far the best in any MMO and the community is very friendly and helpful.
In fact.... if someone is searching for a new MMO to play I would completely recommend they give TSW a go:)
Black Desert Online. Stunning graphic makes the world alive around you. Variable character skills and different key combos/movements to using them - not just casting x skill with pressing 1, casting y spell with key 2 etc. That makes pvp pulsing, fast moving, jumping there and away, grabbing or throwing you opponent, cast your spells or use your skill - both of them are enjoyable. Node wars on each week, guild vs guild - lots of chance to pvp, gaining knowledge after killing monsters, doing quests, talking with npcs, to improve yourself, lots of gathering and processing materials. Rent a house/houses in the main cities to use bank investments, fishing and hunting, fight against world bosses. Trading between traders, farming in your own garden/gardens. Lots of chance to customizing your character, your horse, gaining loyality poins after each day to improve your character and to buy some extra stuff from online shop. Regular events and challenges to get rare items.
I am old school and have to say Final Fantasy 11, not only was it my first major mmo, but simply put, it was a mmo that was based around the people and communities; where we didn't feel like we were just playing a game but were interacting with real friends and some became more like family. That, to me, is one thing that has been lost in today's mmo's. The people and community are the souls of the game.
Mabinogi: There's a lot to do, a lot of fashion, frequent events, unique combat system, graphics look good, low system requirements. Only problem is the game is a bit out of date now being made around 12(?) years ago.
Hmm. Mu Online has to be me my all time favorite with Runescape right behind it. Spent days and days nolifing the game with my friends. PVPing and searching for legendary items. Such a good game. Mu Legend is kinda a let down for me. Its not as good as the old my is. sadly.

Not for the gameplay ( though that was good too), but for the lasting friendships that I made playing it.
