Black Desert Online News - Pearl Abyss has signed a "MOU", or memo of understanding, with Silicon Studio to bring a new level of fidelity to the graphics and visuals in Black Desert Online. Silicon Studio has been working in the digital entertainment field since 1999 and has created several middle-ware packages including YEBIS that is used in both Bloodborne and Dark Souls III.

Yes, the highest setting in the game is playable with surprisingly low requirements, such as what was a near state of the art computer that is now 3-4 years old.  My system when I tried the beta was such a system.

Wow, because silicon is all this game needs.

The game looks pretty good already but anyway my card cannot really take much advantage of what is already there. Nvdia GTX 770 not really that great any more.

It's the pop-up/in that I want to see gone. They fix that, and I'll be happy.

Exactly, and the shadows could use some work along with the ambient occlusion.

    I agree for once.
BDO has the best graphics of any MMO so far, they should fix PvE and make it more meaningful.

100% agreed. Not even more meaningful, just more of it. I know PVP endgame is their target, and their USP, but I know I'm not alone in wishing and hoping for more group PVE content.

Visuals for this game are already seen as some of the best in the genre, besides the popping, which I doubt Silicon will fix.  This is just so... off-target.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the visual upgrades are but I agree I would really love to see them borrow PVE ideas from ArchAge and Guild Wars 2 to give you more to do both in groups and by yourself.

I really wish BDO had the same trade run system AA has, like, the exact same one. I've thought about trying AA again with the new 3.0 update because I miss certain things about it.

Bdo has the best graphics of all mmo now lol.

They need to fix the endless grind make enchants to tri tet and pen more obtainable and make AI less retarded. Not sure if they fix d sync yet I quit a while ago but thelse are the major reasons I quit.

You guys seem to forget it is a team of people, the graphic/environment/engine artists and programmers can work on this while the system programmers fix the other issues.

The trade system is a minigame in BDO, and its a pretty good one, as you level up in Trading it becomes very lucrative, honestly, i am really glad that they didn't use the Archeage system, which imo, was a terrible one, there are enough hazards without having to deal with wannabee's trying to steal your stuff.

I moved BDO to my SSD drive and the pop-in problem went away (unless you're doing S:Instant Accel on a tier 8 horse, then buh bye everything). That tells me they're loading textures from the harddrive 'just in time' which translates to 'not in time'.

I'm playing at full graphics and the extended mode, forget the name of it, on a GTX 970 on a 3 year old desktop so yeah it can be played on older hardware just fine. Some configurations don't seem to work well but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the age of the hardware (unless, you know, it's really old).

Yeah, shame that it looks like they don't have a PvE Team though, since BDO PvE is embarrassing to say the least.
Maybe use that money to hire someone to actually make PvE content which doesn't involve mindless zerging and Bosses one-shotting at Random any Melee in range (including fully capped and geared Tanks).

From what I can tell, the engine optimization is hard coded for a set level of hardware (internet cafe PCs) hence the low render distance and no options for LOD settings.  As far back as Asheron's Call MMORPG engines have been programmed for the least-common-denominator and my machine has always been ahead of the "average" curve, leaving me with graphics hardware that yawns at whatever is thrown at it.

All they really need to do is allow us to set our own draw distance and texture and model LOD levels (or disable completely, as I always do in any MMO that allows it).

That being said, I can't wait to see what is in store for the graphics updates.  I just hope its not more sparklies with skill use. If I wanted my whole screen blocked by skill and spell effects I could have stayed with DAOC.

    Uh no.
I played the game in beta.  I decided to pass on it because of the high cost of the cash shop, not how the game played or how it looked.

    I built my system in 2012 using my old vid (Sapphire 6870 1GB), and upgraded the video card in 2013.  When I was playing BDO my system was;

    i5-3470 quad core on a Z77 motherboard
    16GB DDR3
    256GB SSD + 640GB HDD
    XFX 7870 video card with 2GB DDR5
    Win10

I've added a few upgrades since, but the system I listed ran BDO perfectly well at high settings, or ultra high, or whatever the highest preset they had was.

The texture loading in BD totally reminds me and behaves just like the texture loading in FSX
