Should have just been a single player game instead..
I like it.. but there's no need for it to be an MMO.
Yes, so much this. A LOT of features would be way better as a singleplayer game too because they wouldn't have to waste manpower on either PvP crowd or "endgame" nonsense. As I always say, things should most definitely end. End while they're good and not when paps Nurgle sneezed in their direction, mind you.
Funny this MMO does what so few manage to do. I can play all content with my wife including story and we get rewarded for doing so. So many MMOs today my wife and I are forced to solo content. This is the best modern MMO that lets you play all content teamed.
So far i am liking the new expansion and the way the story unfolds. The new difficulty settings coupled with galactic command and DvsL make the content much more meaningful.
I resubbed after some years , ran that story in one blow and it was well worth that montly sub , it was sad to see after that , that the game is a ghost town in terms of mmorpg. I would keep playing but mehhhh , i need that mmo feel ,
Let me take a wild guess that subscription numbers are, at the point of EEA closing the game.... They do this too, all the time, anyone remember battleforge ? I put a few bucks into that thing and "o sorry we are closing it down , you get nothing back for your time and money". F EA to H. Then after this last round of trying SWTOR , F them. You can't get me into your van with your candy ! This is my opinion.
I would think the exact opposite.
With the new Star Wars movies coming out I bet they have a whole new set of players, including returning players like me, excited for star wars content.
Heck, even I just downloaded the game again and if a game has a sub I usually end up paying it if I decided to play it for a while.
Yeah....This really is a thing. After seeing The Force Awakens last December, when I got home I instantly bought Star Wars: Battlefront even though I knew it was mediocre and had avoided it for a month.
Did similar after each Hobbit movie, would play some Lotro even though the game's pretty bad now.

I only play the story arc's and class stories in this game. Everything else in this game is crap to me. And this throne crap expansion stuff is so lame to play unless your a force user. The content i like is f2p so i just do that. I would never pay a sub.for this game again.

Am I the only one who remembers "Rogue One Tv Series" .. not a movie.. yet they changed it to a movie .....
Also people will not be joining an mmorpg when the movies come out, they will be playing single player star wars action rpgs / fps on their consoles.
Am I the only one who remembers who REALLY stole the Death Star plans(Kyle Katarn)? I mean, this movie could turn out to be a lot things, but I've this nagging feeling that a progressive female lead will only serve her function(to progress, well, you know which viewpoints) and won't come anywhere close to Kyle.
Hey its Disney. They have to make it a female lead.
I can't speak to the exact number of subs but I have seen a lot of people riding around on the new mounts and accessing things required for a sub. On my server I've been on the 2nd tier of some worlds due to tier one being maxed. Last night I was on Tier 2 on one of the new expansion worlds and it was close to max on that tier. I have a few different characters in different guilds and the activity in them has doubled and tripled from a few months ago. The forums also seem to be pretty active with many new posts, some people happy, some not, usual stuff. If I'm not mistaken, Forbes or some other magazine reported subs spiked last year due to the movies success and showed some numbers. Lastly SWTOR placed in the top 5 on top grossing mmo games list on Superdata Research's report for 2016.
Which is quite sad actually. Because nothing that BW do seem to have ANY negative impact on revenue. Which means they could literally shit all over their fanbase and call them losers and people would still join, sub and buy lotto rng hypercrates. Because...baaa! I think that's the sound.
fml smh
The lead at Star Trek Online did that. He insulted the player base called them losers and nothing happened in that game. People still pay 30 dollars or more for every new ship they put out. Die hard fan of these two top IP's will just throw money at them no matter what.
Beat the new story line in a couple hours. Since there is zero side quests or anything else to do for fun with the new dlc. Story was ok, very very happy about the ending.
Galatians command is a two sided thing. One, the rng boxes give out cool shot. Two, the rng boxes never give me any fucking end game gear!!!!
Also the grind was bearable because you could do pvp, instances, uprisings, or just grind gold mobs and get decent cxp.
Today they nerfed the shit out of cxp from mobs. So that option is gone. Fucking bioware.
The rng boxes will not give out end game gear until around level 180 which is the lowest tier 3.
Tier 1: Command Rank 1-89. Rating 230
Tier 2: Command Rank 90 – 179. Rating 234/236
Tier 3: Command Rank 180-300. Rating 240/242.
They have basically added a rng grind fest to getting loot from the crates. The best way right now to get cxp is doing story mode uprising but that will get boring fast if you are just grinding away. Can get around 4k in an hour doing that.
I didn't know you couldn't get good gear till t3. That really really sucks.

*sigh* Hey guess what nay sayers... No body cares... a few million players are going to play SWTOR over the next year.. some will keep playing, some will not. Some will buy subscriptions, most wont. Just like every other MMO out there that any good at all.
I've seen so many comments saying Oh they're loosing money, oh they're going to shut down.. oh this, oh that.. Oh what utter BS! EA is alive and well. BIoware is alive and well. SWTOR should be good for at least another 5 years if not longer.. (recall hearing the same sort of noise about Blizzard a few years back and they certainly are still here!) When it does finally cease development it won't be because the product isn't still making money. It'll be because the product is being replaced with a newer product drawing from the lessons Bioware (the most likely producer of the product) learned from the first one. SWTOR may even be maintained as a legecy product by EA.. as long as sufficient folk continue to subscribe to cover the cost of maintaining the server. We'll all have to just wait and see/
It is an MMO. It's also a single player game for the most part "for" players that don't feel like being sociable with a player base that tends to...lack maturity. I live in a little community of older persons.. like grand parent age and older. I know of at least 30 adults over the age of 50 within 3 block of my home that play SWTOR. We're all subbed players. Most of us are not in Guilds. There's no reason for us to be in one. We want bodies for flash point or group content, we hop on the community team speak server and see who's available! (yea Grandma and Grandpa are wired!) Who needs a guild when you got homies in your hood you can call any time?
There is nothing wrong with SWTOR.. it's not perfect but little is in this world. In the end.. it's just a computer game that you play to be entertained. And if your not entertained Why are you still playing. If you've stopped playing, why are being a poison pill about it in these comments on mmorpg's article? Grow up you pouty children.. "if I can't have fun playing no one else is allowed too either!"
Grandpa say you need a time out.. go take it or no ice cream after dinner, and none of Grandma cookies either!
What year of the "SW:ToR gonna shut down" debate are we in?
Actually, unless the whales and the sheep pull their weight, but REALLY pull their weight, the after effects of KoTET will be anything but nice. Shut down? No, that's for certain. But they could and most likely have set themselves on the road to ruin. Unless they make something that drastically improves the state of KoTET.
Haha what a bunch of crap. 2011 called and wants your ignorant crying back. People like you have been crying this same garbage for FIVE YEARS give it up it's pathetic.

seems legit... unless you run an mmo and no rpg ^^
