The announcement came alongside a tiny video that says, "The fate of Nexus rests in your hands..."

^^ I think this says a fair bit more than they are letting on eh.

As someone else said ..... THE CLASSES MAN!! It feels like none should be there! ( Well , beside medic ) . Or at least not in the current state.

Those classes were made for Tab Target system and from my point of view, they made a huge mistake taking the GW2 approach in the middle of development !

Great , GREAT world and story. But I just can't get myself playing ANY class.

I am sorry Wildstar, I am sorry! I really tried HARD to like you :(

yep its the classes for me.

You know those little stations the settler could make from collected resources it was actually a great idea because it made you make things for other people to buff themselves with and I thought it was wonderful in the beginning when you would go to some little village and there would be some station set up by another player.

Unfortunately the combat killed this game for me. If they had made this game better without all the terrible targeting and dancing around trying to heal others I would be still playing. I love the art style and I loved the characters and I loved the lore I read. Pity really so sad the bad choices they made about the combat. It's obvious the combat system was the mistake they made.

"The faith of Nexus rests in your hands"

Meaning: the game is about to shut down if a miracle doesn't happen soon.

Am i the only one who got this meaning from the video?

Wildstar is a good example of how little developers should listen to the vocal minority.
Any one followed reddit pre-launch knows what I'm talking about.

For folks mentioning the UI and how much they dislike it, there are addons. Check out Curse.com, just like with most of the bigger MMO titles. Most games that offer addons (e.g. WOW, ESO, RIFT, etc.) are not games I would ever consider playing with the stock UI. That said, WS does allow for quite a lot of UI shifting in the base game. If the only thing you didn't like was the UI, don't let that stop you.

To put it in more perspective, CoH was bringing in almost triple what Wildstar is prior to its closure.

Neat, but NCsoft management has changed since the CoH days and its not the "evil" corporation people think it is.

Wildstar is still VERY slightly profitable for NCsoft, so running Wildstar is easy and cheap.

The NCSoft should prove it by bringing back CoH. Just put the servers back up with our old characters for a few months and see if it's profitable.

This game has some of the most fun combat out there in the MMO world. Particularly raiding where everyone is accountable beyond simply tunnel visioning their dps meters.
    People still raid? That's so 2004. ;)

I'm shocked so many people say they love this game in the thread.  I can't stand required linear questing through corridor "worlds".  Talk about dull.  No risk vs reward, no freedom ugh.  I'm jealous of people that like that type of MMO as they have countless to choose from.

I thought about trying to suffer through the leveling process to get to the multiplayer supposedly challenging dungeons, which sounds pretty fun.  I could put up with the cartoon gfx with no textures, the poor optimization etc.  But the linear questing drove me to quit shortly after every attempt.

If WoW released today and was published by the same people as Wildstar, it would have ended in the same spectacular way.

It's really funny how IP and brand recognition (among luck and marketing budget) plays the biggest role in a game's success. Quality is not really that important. If it was, nearly every MMO that released in the past 5 years would have easily killed WoW.

As for Wildstar fans, my condolences. The timing was bad, and there is already a huge competitor in the "not serious" and "cartoony" category. It's sad, however I really don't see this game making it into 2018.

people say that every year, "I dont see it making it to 2015, 2016, 2017, now 2018."

I could say that with every game and eventually I will be right and can go "I knew it"

Wildstar runs each day as if it is its last. The game has only lasted this long because of the good graces of NCsoft which is saying a lot. Even from people who've worked on it, laid off or otherwise don't understand why it is still going. Wildstar Q3 if I remember correctly didn't even break 1million USD, for a company like NCsoft, its a drop in the bucket. Q4 is probably going to be even worse.

Wildstar had a terrible retail launch, had a just as bad F2P launch and its Steam launch barely broke 5,000 players and it dropped sharply after. Its average users is sub 300 monthly and still dropping.

To put it in more perspective, CoH was bringing in almost triple what Wildstar is prior to its closure.
I don't get how Wildstar is still running when it under preforms the late City of Heroes.

It's pretty much on the chopping block with the executioner standing right behind it sharpening his axe.

    Painful.

When it moved to Steam though NCSoft may have provided some assurances that they would keep it going for "a year" or whatever. May have.

I'm just amazed this game is still releasing new content for the 12 people who play. Honestly though Wildstar is a quality game, it's crazy how little tolerance gamers have for a poorly executed launch these days.
Oh really? They didnt just fuck up the launch, they belittled a large portion of the player base who they didnt regard as hard-core, it wasnt until many many months later that they changed their attitude towards their game and their remaining player base after most of the hard-core players had abbandoned them and all they had left were mostly casual gamers.  Then much much later after we endured hardly any content because they were putting their time into a f2p model launch, they went and fucked that one up to.
Of course im skipping past lots of other incidents in between all of this.
Carbine is a cautionary tale on how not to treat your potential player base. Most of their decisions on the game were based on what they wanted to be true and anything that didnt fit their narrative was ignored.

This game could have been such a success, it got so many things right but ultimately it was doomed because of piss poor leadership and hubris.

Im guessing NCSoft wanted to try and make back some of their investment first. City of heroes probably had already done that.
Thats just a guess on my part though. Have nothing to back that up with.

During the 2nd launch(F2P) issues the lead dev said in a Twitch stream "come back in 2 weeks".

    I never went back.

Now the hate for combat. It took practice but double jumping, dodge rolling your way to victory felt like you had more control of your character. I think those who disliked it may find it extremely rewarding if they had an mmo mouse. Combat in WS ruined WoW for me - you can feel the age in how your character moves and fights.

Great endgame PvE content, holy trinity, great combat system. My cup of tea.
I hope there is something big coming out :)

Something big coming out won't help. Steamspy stats indicate that c. 900k downloaded the game yet over Christmas it was played - on average - by c. 300 of those 900k on Steam though. (Plus non-Steam players)

The question is: how can they get people to try what already exists. Wthout spending "any" money. Give everybody an end-game character - I don't know.

Is it really not possible for them to revamp the combat ? Strange sense of deja vu I may have asked this before, sorry am old and forgetful.

I loved the hype, loved the scenery, loved the art style, but ended up hating the game. It was so bland and sometimes so over the top. I think the best thing was the combat, but I hated the classes as they all felt really boring.

This game could've been big but they went full retard (almost) all WoW Clone Developers. It's sad because I love themepark with holy trinity. But as always it's the publishers who pushed the developers to release prematurely. And premature ejaculation is always bad..
