If nothing else, this game will be a very interesting social experiment for modern gaming. I guess we'll see just how much people really want to communicate and socialize and rely on other people, like they did in the old days.

Steering having limited vision and relying on spotters/navigators, people having to do less glamorous(potentially boring) tasks like repairing the hull below-deck, etc.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster unless you happen to have a large group of friends.

Judging by the frequency of "asshat" behaviour in games like WoT and War Thunder, random groups will be hell...

    One gripe seeing that video.

He swam with a chest full of gold like he was a fit racing swimmer.. They should make you load it into a small boat and row it to the ship. Add more stalling situations where one can get it stolen off you making it more dicey getting it back to ship let alone selling it at a quartermaster.

Co-Op stuff like this is givemegiveme, there's some other games on this type of stuff coming, what is cool beans!

Looks fun and fantastic. Definitely like relying on players for different jobs, especially since they're interchangeable. One question though: what stops people from simply crowding around the quartermaster and shooting anyone with a chest coming in? In the video he was running (what looked like through a town) and was shot down. Will there be some type of penalty to the attacker (like loss of % of treasure) the closer it gets to the quartermaster. This way, people are encouraged to try and gather treasure on the high seas.

I really hope that there is a lot more to this game than what they have shown... Find gold.... Dig up gold... Bring gold back to a safe harbor. Sounds like a 5$ steam sale purchase unless they are hiding the VAST majority of gameplay elements.

Well, we know that there are PVE encounters such as skeletons and mermaids, underwater exploration of some type, kraken, and so forth.  As to end results, I have no idea.  I assume it's like any other game where you gear up/pimp out your character and upgrade your ship, etc.
I've heard it loosely compared to Destiny a couple of times, but I don't know how accurate that is.

This game looks very promising. I am hoping just 2 people can coop the game. I also hope there is 3rd person view. Please release this year!
