From a marketing perspective, this is brilliant.

Holy crap the Chewbacca dressed in Evel Knievel's outfit poster just made my day!

On-topic: Holy crap another feature for @Erilion to post on the forums to piss off the... shall we say negatively-invested ones.

So a lot of players have been wondering about how he would answer Monty Python questions? No one is really interested in S42 or the latest updates on the PU so lets just leave those out.

Do you think that it was intentional to put Ben Lesnick in front of the custom RSI door? I think I could actually feel the heat of minds blowing on that one, lol.

Ahh yes, the game-killing, money draining Door of Doom!

Sometimes I miss the likes of Brenics and the other lost ones. The new batch just isn't as devoted to the crazy as the original tin-foil wearing crew.

I do miss the crazy sometimes. Thankfully the next season of America looks way more interesting. I think that's probably where they went.

Wow look, yet another "coming soon" or "in development" video.....hey when does the next round of concept art sales start?  Since the "ships" don't exist, and all........

You can play it. It's been played and is being played. Feel free to offer your detailed assessment, though. As it stands, though, the development arc isn't all that far from what Elite: Dangerous did. I mean they are JUST implementing multi-crew ships and character creation now. Horizons JUST added planets last year and they were initially bland and shitty. Oh, and at $120 all-in, I think I'll take my $20 early bird and wait for SC to release. I'm sure CIG could have gone the same path as Frontiers and performed multiple (paid) releases over time, but I'm kinda glad they didn't, to be honest.

Why are you comparing a game where you can already do numerous things in with a game that you won't be able to properly play for the next few years (at least).
Why can't you play both? They are very different experiences anyway.

I'm simply using it as a measuring stick of development, since they both started around the same time. That's about the extent of the comparison. I'm not saying one is superior to the other. The main difference is the methodology for developing the game. One chose to go with incremental, paid, releases and the other decided to wait to release the product in its entirety. To be fair, it'll be some time still before you can, really, play ED in its entirety. I'm just introducing some perspective, from VERY similar games developing on VERY similar timelines.

Well FD has said they have a 10 year plan. Is that what you mean by it's entirety?
There's thousands of people playing the game as it is now and some of their mechanics are waaay ahead of SC's. For instance the mission system (like it or not) has been retouched and polished 3-4 times iirc as have numerous other mechanics in the game.

SC's mechanics (the ones that have been implemented) are completely barebone up to now, and that's when they work properly.

But I still think the games offer very different experiences. One is concentrating on the flying of ships in space and the other is concentrating on the First Person part of the experience.
Flying in Elite feels so much more fun than SC and walking around and EVAing in SC is much better than ED's non-existent version.

Agreed, I think they do have different goals. I probably shouldn't have made such a simplistic comparison, but it was intended as a response to a simplistic post. The reality is much more complicated, but I do feel it's a great illustration of different design philosophies. Also, where would SC be if they took the same route? It's really difficult to say. However, I didn't know that they talked about a 10 year plan, but I really hope that SC will release on more like a 6 or 7 year plan :) Then polish.
