Actually, not sure about the copies on your part of the world, but my "Starter Kit" (yeah, I'm one of those guys who bought it for the instant travel feature) has the SOE logo right next to the LA logo on the back of the box.

Edit: Checking my copy of the Total Experience, it too has the SOE logo.  However, my Collector's Box which was my original SWG purchase when the game came out has only the LA logo, but there may have been a paper insert that I threw away with the plastic wrap that had the SOE logo.

One thing I've never liked about Lucas is he has absolutely no shame in selling the same project over and over again with slightly diffrent additions.

Not sure if any of you recall laser discs? Well Lucas released a huge black box set which was title the Ultimate Star Wars collection, or something very similar. It came with all three movies a big black display case and a book which showed concept art and such.

Well not long after this, the new versions of IV, V & VI with the new computer graphics and added scenes came out in the theaters. Suddenly that $70.00 ultimate collection was worthless. So then we get DVD's eventually one at a time the same three films are released with the additional CGI and scenes.

Well, as before the next movies I, II & III are either in theaters or in production. So shortly after II Lucas releases a DVD Collectors Box set! It is still only movies IV, V & VI. But, now there are a few more added sights of Naboo and Christian Hayden as glowly Anakin at the end of VI.

Can you imagine trying to keep up with this? And if your die hard more then likley yo will. And many people do. Now we currently have A boxed set and the single dvd versions of I, II & III. I just saw yet another new version of episodes IV,V & VI advertised. This time will cool new DvD covers or something.

Just imagine what is going to happen when the full set of 6 films comes out in one set. Expect to be able to buy at least three ultimate versions!

It's the same crap we see in SWG. It's highway robbery. They have sold the same friggen crappy, bugged game with a different wrapper 3 times. And if this rumor is indeed true, here comes the 4th.

One thing George Lucas does even better then make films is Make Money! And it's obvious he doesn't care how underhanded and manipulative he is in doing it.

    This is BS.

"The SKUs that were pulled were The Starter Pack, The Total Experience, RotW, and ToOW."

The items in Yellow do not exist, and if there are two falsehoods in the story, the whole thing is bound to crap.

Actually.. they CAN generate SKU codes, depending on how the company planned on releasing it. They very well could have reserved an SKU code for each of their SWG related products.. just in case they ever decided to release it on disk.

That's another of our "we'll never confirm nor deny" facts about $OE.

Sorry, yeah only the LA logo is on the front but they're both on the back.  Just found my original box and it's the same story with that.

Well unless it's a roll back to what the game was originally then LA can pray and repackage all the want they won't get my money back. SOE/LA have just been completely stupid in this whole debacle there's no reason to think they'll get smart now. So I bet it's just LA remarketing it with some new jedi robe or something.

The big Smed hisself is crushing your high hopes (nothing new here ::::01::)

    1) Yes Raph [Ralph Koster. SK] is leaving SOE. It's not some big dramatic thing - it's simple.. he's at the end of his contract with SOE and he wants to try some new things that realistically we can't do here at SOE right now. The truth is Raph is an incredibly talented and amazingly creative person and he has 1000 great ideas. He's done some great things in this industry and I know he'll continue to do great things. Raph's been with SOE for 5 years. I've enjoyed working with him a lot and he's made some great contributions. At the end of the day we have a finite amount of resources and projects that we can have in development at any one time. He wants to try some new stuff that we can't do at this stage.. we have a lot of things we are trying to do as a company right now. I'm always surprised by the amount of rampant speculation that goes on about stuff like this.

    2) No - in fact LucasArts isn't "pulling the Star Wars" license or anything of the kind. We have a very long term deal and things are fine between our companies. It's complete and utter fabrication. I feel like we need extra-special tin-foil hats in the shape of Darth Vader's mask or something. What happens is one website writes something - then 5 more link to it.. so it must all of a sudden be true. I wish it worked that way.

sorry but smed has zero credibility. I seriously doubt he would confirm losing SWG until he is absolutely forced too.

So what's the rumor here? Bioware now owns SWG and is trying to sell pre-CU SWG for $60?

Doubt it. I honestly don't know what it would be, though. If it was an expansion, they'd be talking about it non-stop, and they said they've stopped working on it to fix bugs and the core gameplay. Could be just a new package with the same old bullsh*t. But it's hard to believe anyone (yes, even them) would be stupid enough to think they'd make money off that. Especially after taking all of their products off of store shelves for a month.

What could they possibly have done that makes them think that they've made something worth $60, when no one wants to play their game and most of their old fanbase hates them? I'd say SOE's got one last trick up their sleeves. A last ditch effort to make some money out of this mess.

They're going through the effort to make this game more like pre-CU SWG. I don't think they would have bothered if they were finished with SWG. I don't think they'd want to hold on to that license if they had given up on it.

As Smedley said a little bit ago, in that one SWG guild's website, they don't announce anything until it goes live. Knowing them, they'll try something big. And knowing them, everyone will hate it.

Slight followup.  My buddy said I can pre-order the new sku on the 15th.  I told him i would be in to do just that.  My curiousity is getting the better of me.  At least I will have a receipt with a sku, title, and price to scan and upload...so there is definately a new box on the way folks.

Hmm I'm going to have to look into this. I work at a walmart myself, I'll have to check tomorrow and see if ours got pulled from the shelves as well. Hadn't heard anything about it tho previously.

It's more then likely that there pulling them for a new boxxed set, there has been talk of SOE putting out a boxxed set that has all of SOE's games on them. Also we're talking about Walmart here, if they hear there's a new copy of (game here) coming out, they tend to pull the old copys and then put the new copys on the shelf. I know the one near me did that with the Total Experience box, there where about 2 to 4 copys sitting on the shelf a month before the NGE and Starter Pack came out. The thing you have to remember about Walmart is they go for selling Xbox/PS2 stuff before the PC, and if it's a PC Game they tend to go with whatever came out, really old games that take up little space that go for $10 bucks or so, and best sellers...

Now after stopping in at my near by GameStop last week to pick up a copy of the new Command & Conquer: The First Decade, they did still have a few copys of SWG on the rack.

Rofl @ paranoid and desperate pre-cu fanboys making up rumors to make themselves feel better.

Seriously guys move on, the NGE is here to stay and most people have forgotten about the pre-cu. Go play saga of ryzom or something, it will benefit your mental health in the long run.

Smug fanboi attitudes don't endear you to anyone mate. It's like standing over someone just hit by a bus shouting at him 'but it's a great bus isn't it? Nice paint job and all'.

well, i know the RoTW came out in stores the last week of november, it offered the Jedi Fighter as a bonus item.  You get the Varactyl with the downloaded version.  RoTW was only in stores maybe 2 weeks at most before they replaced it with the TTE before Episode 3 premiered.  As for ToOW, i'm not 100% sure but i could have sworn i seen an advertisement for it at gamestop, i think it came with the lava skiff vehicle vise the lava flea as with the download.  But of course this was quickly replaced with the Starter kit, which of course the starter kit also overrided the TTE i believe because it was not up for sale anywhere after the Starter kit came out.  This all transpired over one month and maybe a week from the end of november and through december of 2005.  So its very easy not have noticed them in the stores.  Why all this transpired has had me curious for some time.  I had a funny feeling that SOE is really grasping at straws to sell SWG.  But i would assume that the only SKU currently "active" would be the starter kit.

I'm not sure how much we can tell from in-stock products at a store location.  I went in to the BestBuy here in Salt Lake and they have every SWG product ever released(except the special edition).  Including game cards.  I don't know if they're just ignoring re-calls or what, but they have a ton of the SOE garbage.  I hope something is in the works, watching SOE get their come-uppins would be delightful.
