How much are they paying you to hype this god-awful game on the forums?..... Cause they're just losing more and more cash on developmental costs that won't be made up by this RL currency system.procated

no, not everyone but a great many do. Last year alone the selling of MMO credits/gold industry made 500 million dollars....thats an awful lot of cheaters.

    Well said Augustusa1

And anyone who doesn't understand the difference between a developer selling in-game advantages directly which are created outside the game world for that purpose, and the secondary sales of items earned in-game thru expended effort, well you won't ever get it.

What I do get is the fact that you have been trolling this game since it was announced. I've never seen you praise any game and have only seen you bereate every game I've ever seen you post about. I have asked on several occasions and I'm going to ask you again: What MMORPG do you think is good??

I expect Roma Victor to be played by the most mature gamers and i think that those players will respect the developers and the game they are playing. They'll have no choice.. heh. They'll fall in love with this game. It'll play like nothing they've played before. In a good way, of course. And it may start as a niche game but I believe gamers will catch on.

Please stop bashing something you've never experienced before.

And.. Please believe me when i say all this. Im not quite sure whether i can say if im in the CT or not. But for right now... Im not. ::::39::

P.S. As many say and have said.. the graphics do need to improve. May not the level of gfx but rather the structure, creativity, and design is what id most like to see change.

They are not paying me.  It's just a great game and as a new player, I enjoy discussing it.

I will make all the cash I need ingame. I can play 10-12 hours,  so it won't bug me ;)

No way will I play this game.

I hate the Korean games that sell stuff for the game and this is the same thing. I expect everyone to earn their way, especially in a PvP game. I might not be able to stop players from selling stuff but I can sure avoid playing a game where the developers do.

Another person replying blindly?  Will it never end?

The only thing that is sold is currency and with that currency you can only buy the regular in-game items that everyone else can make or buy with the currency they earn within the game.  Its only a time saver.

Further, items can be bought for every MMOG with cash.  So I don't understand what your problem is and you probably don't either.  The difference is that in most the other MMOGs the items are sold by cheaters who don't really care about the game.  Whereas, in Roma Victor, the developers can control and balance the economy.

Another fanboi defending blindly, will it never end?

The only thing one can buy is currency you say? That is a lot as it allows you to buy anything as you have stated. I have also read on the official website that legions can be hired and trained with coin. That is some serious advantage, especially in a PvP game.

You contradict yourself by saying it's only a time saver, beacuse in your next paragraph you correcly call the practice cheating. It's cheating wether players conduct sales or a developer does directly. I propose that it's the developers of this game that don't care about it by pursuing a greedy revenue system which they believe will bring in more cash than a low subscription rate, and do so in a sneaky way by slowly sucking more money over time by manipulating the economy.

Controlling and balancing the economy is how they will coerce players to buy more in-game coin. That is the basis of their revenue system. They have to force people to buy in-game coin by making life difficult to earn in-game coin thru effort, otherwise the game will fail as they won't be making any money.

Wake up and smell the coffee, stay away from this game.

I have read all your posts and replied to most of them.  You are clueless as far as Roma Victor and have convinced yourself of something that is absolutely not true.

There is a monthly limit to how much you can buy, which should not exceed what a normal monthly subscription fee would be.

I hope you stay away from this game becauase I'd hate to have to deal with someone so ignorant. They are not forcing anyone to buy anything. You can easily excel in this game withouth purchasing in game sesterces as long as you have lots of spare time. If you don't have the spare time, like if you actually have to work for a living and cook for yourself, you can purchase a limited amound of sesterces per month.

THERE IS NO MONTHLY FEE! Wake up and smell the asphalt.

Okay, since so many of you seem to have no understanding of what Red Bedlam is doing I guess I'll step in explain it in small words as if you were a small child.

There are no quests in Roma Victor.

Ther are also no "monsters" in Roma Victor.

A player's in game goals are set by the player themselves and the community.

There are no "levels" in Roma Victor.

Characters are developed by using skills.

    Players can be robbed.

You cannot "cash out" your in-game currency. Once you have bought the currency, you can't exchange it for RL cash.

All the currency in Roma Victor comes from the RL exchange for currency.

When you buy the CD-Key for RV, you get the amount of money equal to the price you paid.

RV is intended to be a "trickle-down" economy.

While "trickle-down" didn't work in RL, I'm willing to believe that it can work in a simplified, virtual environment.

While a player could buy their way to wealth, they'll have to pay other players to help them keep that wealth.

If you play this game and you do anything for an obviously richer player than you, for free, then you deserve to get nowhere.

The idea is to get people to shuffle the money around and compete for it.

Smart players will be able to get hold of a larger chunk of the in-game currency by good business decisions.

Dumb players will end up broke and have to buy more currency because of poor business decisions.

Players that have a lot of disposable RL income but play poorly will be supporting better players that don't pay as much.

In short, players that buy a lot of currency will have to use that currency to pay other players for goods and services.

Stercese are worth about 5 cents each.

The only problem I can forsee is possible hyper inflation as players pay more into the in-game economy. If Red Bedlam limits the amount of currency you can buy per month and figures out a way to eat unused currency, it should be okay though.

Just like in real life, I can win the lottery but I won't stay rich if I manage my money poorly. Buying an obscene amount of currency may give you a temporary advantage, but you'll have to be very politically / business savy to stay on top.
