If you think those strafing animations (among others) aren't ridiculous you are aesthetically tone deaf.
TSWs WHOLE draw was the story, awesome and layered quests, and the dungeon mechanics. Building your skills out was awesome too, but instead of fixing the redundant/useless skills they removed them.
They'll fool around with this relaunch for a little bit, then make the console announcement as the revenue graph starts to taper off.
This is pure speculation and prediction on my part, but I'm going to say it anyway...
I think all they did was put a few developers on it to make some cosmetic changes, "hide" that which was broken, and re-brand it as an improved game in the hopes that they can squeeze a few extra dollars out of the hopeful.
It's going to take players about three days to figure out SWL is the same game as TSW and start leaving in droves.
I can't wait to give this game another go, I miss the awesome questing. I never had a problem with Animations, my biggest gripe was obviously the Combat but also the Skill System, way too much crap to manage, unlike many of you, I am happy they simplified the Skill System.

Combat animations and the skill complexity are tiny issues compared to the fucked up hitboxes and combat lag. I can live with the first two but a zombie the same size as your character and NO WEAPON having a longer reach (hitbox) than a character with a 30" sword at the same distance? Really?
Have fun swinging your sword through it's body with no effect while it tears you to pieces.
It's guns or GTFO for players. The most boring weapon in an MMO, hands down.

I'm not a guy that enjoys being range so I can sympathise. However, there's the awesome shotgun! I hope they don't screw it up.

Oooo so now, when somebody says that animations dont bother him it is suddenly hitboxes which are a problem. And Guns are uber alles in tsw for players? New alternative facts everyday. Its like people who have problems with TSW cant admit they want only eye candy like half naked barbie dolls and nothing more.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Guns are and have been shit for a long time. They just happen to be less shitty than melee, but that's always been true. No change there.
This is just another attempt by Funcom to reinvent the wheel its not gonna work.
Worse than that... They're just making some changes to the wheel, removing features, and attempting to repackage it as a new game.
I think it's going to do okay in the short-term (current players moving to it, previous players seeing how/if it's changed/improved, and new people wanting to check out the "latest new thing"), but will ultimately fall off into relative obscurity (again).
In the end, they'll have screwed over the people who supported and stuck by them for the past several years, in hopes of getting into the wallets of a broader audience of new players... and they'll end up appealing to neither.
It's Funcom once again shooting themselves in the foot.
Further, they have been completely disingenuous with their existing players. To address the concerns of long-time TSW players, they came out saying "Oh! You can continue to play The Secret World as you always have! It will exist along side SWL!". All the while, they avoided outright explaining that TSW would no longer see updates to keep a live and growing game. All updates would go to SWL, and TSW would effectively be going into maintenance/sunset mode. They tried to dance around those details, or otherwise avoid addressing them. It was a lie by omission.
They have great ideas, and are one of the few developers who genuinely try to break the mold and try new things, with actual depth. Problem is, they then undermine all that by making poor decisions. This will end up being another example of that tendency, I think.

The gameplay is just the same, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. The game is no different, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. They are completely screwing over everyone, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. The combat still sucks, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. Its all cosmetic changes and nothing more, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. This game will be shutdown by the end of the year, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released.
As many other people on forums discuss, this is why you should avoid these forums. Killing the game with speculation before its been released or played yet. You may be right, but I hate to break it to you, you may also be wrong. Over my years on here, I've read about the death of many games, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, D3 to name a few, guess what I still play them all with many others who enjoy them. They are all still here, in the red(not the black), and most are prospering very well with many players.

Well, to reiterate things I've already said in this thread, I'm a lifetime member in the original TSW and have been playing the beta (by invitation) of SWL and my comments are based on both.
People should also consider advoiding these forums due to clueless fanboys who can't read entire threads before they regurgitate their moronic accusations toward others.
Oh I have every intention of playing it, I just think the attempt is going to fail. I want it to succeed, I really do, but I think it's too little, too late. and you're not the only Lifetimer playing the Beta.

They are going F2P. So this fake re-branding as you put, wouldn't do anything for them. Why would anyone go to any amount of trouble to have players login into a F2P title for 3 days?

Exactly....except this is Funcon and anything can happen. Having said that, it's F2P and I will give it a go before dissing Funcom and the game. I actually hope they kind of fixed it, I love the concept of the game, though I don't have high hopes. Looking what they did with AoC Unchained I doubt they are able to fix anything.

So you think people are going to return to a game that still has many of the issues that caused them to leave the first time just because it's now FTP?
Also, I don't think they went to much trouble. That's the point.
Looking forwall for this, I play the old versión till Issue 5, great game, hoping to try the full story
I was unable to pay for this and FFXIV at the same time, now i can have both

Sorry mate, where did I say that? I don't think people are going to go back and find all the issues are fixed, I'm not sure if even Funcom has stated that they have fixed anything.
I can't say how much trouble they have went through, first because I haven't played SWL yet, second, I can't really put a cost into the changes. Neither can anyone else at this point.
What I believe is they wanted to convert to F2P, but instead of doing that flat--which never sounds like an accomplishment--they made some some improvements and changed some stuff to make it more appealing to maybe a wider crowd.
And no, I don't think they are trying to fool anyone to play a F2P game for 3 days.

They can if they played TSW and SWL beta. It's not that hard to figure out.

On a more important note...how come you have 1 post and you are already Blue? (Yeah I am bored)
