Sorry. That is old informations that was "published" more than a month ago. if you notice the date on the article is 6th of February.

MMorpg.com already cancelled the thread discussing the thing because the data was achieved in not proper fashions.

As such, I would suggest you check your source better next time before posting something that already caused thread deletion and possibly warnings to users.

    Have a nice day.

ohhh ok so if the numbers are continuasly decreasing and this pole was taken feb 6th what does this tell you? the numbers will either be less or around the same amount, this just gives you a good idea of where SWG is at right now

as for mmorpg.com deleting the thread, i cant believe they did that, i heard some people posting on how to get the info to get the numbers of SWG but even still deleting 20 pages!!! TWENTY, ive lost quite amount of respect for mmorpg.com for doing so, they should have deleted the posts and banned the people posting the info, 20 pgs is too much

Which makes me question why start another thread when you were aware of what happened?

I agree, the populations of many other MMORPGs have been steadily growing ever since the NGE. EVE for one has seen a massive influx of players thanks to recent events in the last 6 months, subscriber numbers have more than doubled since I started playing! Also every company seems to have profited from the NGE, I must say I'm suprised to be in such full agreement with you on this one Obraik! (have you been finally cured of your hallucinations or did they finally re-capture you and this is a doctor posting in your name?)

Yes I know, but Obraik will have no doubt spotted my pathetic attempt at humour

Will you guys just leave SWG alone!  Sheesh!  Everyone knows it is the best game on the market by far.  You know why?  Because they have the best customer service, the best management team, and the best developers in the industry.  Who else could pull off what they have done without disgracing themselves and the license they carry?  I mean, its not like Star Wars was big before they got a hold of it.  I agree with Obraik.  The population is blasting off like the Millenium Falcon!1!!!  Those people who quit just couldn't adapt to having skill taken out of the game.

While I have yet to see proof that the game populations are growing the data you are using is very out-dated (2 months) and is only a snapshot of "online" players, not "subscribers".

Now, we can assume one of three things:  Population continued to decline (I'm in this crowd) and is now even lower.

    or

We can try to assume that the population remained steady at those levels.  Could happen... they're darn good at marketting.

    or

We can try to assume that the population increased since then.  Which is also possible since the new game pack SOE is selling means people are probably trying SWG since it's essentially 'free'.

Which of those 3 things are true?  I dunno.... SOE and LA certainly are not saying.  And they changed the data coming from the servers right after that person caught that data so we can't check it ourselves any longer.

    Sooooooooo

This post is ***OLD NEWS***  and making any assumptions based upon it is just that:  Assumption.

So leave the people who enjoy the game alone.  They actually have more vision into what's going on in the game than we do.  If they say the game is getting more crowded then, unless we have data that refutes it, we have to at the very least accept that they think it is and leave them alone.  Now, if someone has CURRENT data or at least more recent data than Feb 6, 2006 that shows which direction populations are trending then PLEASE share it so we can shut EVERYONE up.  But until then please stop posting pointless flame bait.  Let the folks enjoying the game enjoy it.   Sheez.

Once again you are wrong Obraik. The game is NOT growing.

Obraik and other may see more players around but that doesnt equal growth. Its players moving from less populated servers to the few larger ones.

Smedley himself stated recently that the game was still losing players. He was happy to admit though that the loss of players was slowing down. Which in itself is a ridiculous statement because naturally player losses would slow down as there are less players left to quit.

The President of SOE states the game is losing players so I dont understand why peeps continue to think otherwise

those numbers remind me of lurking on the old IGN forums watching AC2's numbers fall daily down to only a couple hundred on a server and dropping as low as less than 10 at off peak hours.

I would take these numbers serious. I started SWG back in December of 2004 and going into the Cantina at Mos Eisley at a prime time was impossible. There were literally hundreds of people on the screen, but now? I may see 10 people in ALL of Mos Eisley.

the game is dead and it is rotting, one of the biggest injustice to face star wars fans since...90% of star wars games...one big waste of a liscence...if tiny companys like redbedlam can develop for years on a small budget and make the most of it.....large scale devs and pubs have absolutely no excuase for what they have wasted.....imagine what redbedlam would have created with that kind of money at there disposal

I will not argue if SWG is losing players or not, but...

Times have changed in the galaxy... Battlefatigue is gone, bufflines are gone. With this there isn't any need anymore to stay at one place. The players are more spread out now.

Those that are in Mos eisley are either new players, guildleaders/officers searching for new members, and people passing true.

So... You can't judge the population of the game anymore with only goin' to the main city's, because... they aren't there anymore. They're doin' quests, goin' round and aren't losing time anymore with waiting to get buffed or healed.

You just wait! When the Playstation 3 Arrives, SWG numbers

    will Sky Rocket! LOL

Anyways, sorry for the sickntwisted humor, if this game does go console, which I am almost 95% sure it will, I will stop posting in the SWG forums, due to fact it has hit Rock Bottom and there wont be any sense in evening mention SWG anymore.

That will be the Nail in the coffin for me. A once tactical MMORPG reduced to a shoot them up FPS game.

Yes, considering that statement, he is being sarcastic. People usually are proud of a game requiring skill, they do not rejoyce when it is taken out of the game

Now, at least you didn't post the numbers directly, so maybe this time MMorpg.com will keep it going.

Anyhow, that SWG is not doing great at the moment is easy to prove and i do not need any data.

If they would have the same number of subscribers or even more than pre-NGE, they would say it loud and clear. Do you see them doing so? nope. What they do is trying to confuse you with numbers, like Julio Torres saying in his last letter that "80% of the current players are veterans". It doesn't mean that they have 80% of the old players.... but that 80% of the CURRENT players are pre-nge people... that actually go to demonstrate the utter failure of their Ad campaign.

Wasn't the purpose of the NGE to have a refresh of players? old guys out, new guys in? well, if 80% of the players at the moment are veterans, i do not see such a refresh. only 20% of the current players are new.

So, i wasn't disputing at all the truth of those numbers, just warning you in case you weren't aware of what happened to the previous thread.

Hopefully we do not get cancelled. have a nice day. Long live the Emperor.
