No, the problem is that you call us, the participators on these boards, socialists. If you were to refer to THE socialists then it would be a different story. But you refer back to the posters here. Well, if your goal is to get the lefts view on things by calling me a socialist, democrat, leftist, etc., then you're barking up the wrong tree. Because I'm not the left. I've explained that to you before.
I believe practically all of what Thomas Jefferson believed. As a matter of fact, if I could be Thomas Jefferson and trade in my brain I probably would. I think the dude was sheer genius. I have read book after book after book about him and still can't get enough. The only thing is I think I would change a few things about his personal life, but hey nobody's perfect. If you think that makes me a leftist then you need to go reread each of the parties spelled out platforms.
I am a Libertarian. I would guess that I believe about 95% of the Libertarian platforms agenda. By far more than any of the other parties agendas that are out there. They have a set and spelled out goal of following the Constitution and the original intent of the founding fathers. To promote individual liberty, smaller government, and personal responsibility for decisions.
I don't like the Democrat party. Because it's for way more taxes than I like. Way bigger government. And I just don't appreciate something telling me that it knows what's best for me. Not to mention, I have some trouble trusting the government. It's interests, when given free reign, always turn out bad.
I don't like the Republican party (of late) because it's headed off on this evangelical holy land tour. I don't consider myself a christian. A deist most likely. Deism just makes sense to me. It fits in with science, progress, and with social harmony a lot more. Not to mention the Republican party is not the party of small government and decreased spending anymore. Bush is the biggest spending president in history. And he shows no signs of slowing down. And I know some people say it's because of the war, but I saw the other day that even if you take away the war expenses, he would still be the biggest spender. He hasn't vetoed one single spending bill. And this deal with the immigration policy is another sign of how far the Republican party has been bought out by special interest groups. It's not for the people anymore.
Now if you have to, keep a little notepad by your desk. Write down our nicknames and keep a running tab on what we believe. That way you won't offend us anymore and we may be able to have some productive conversations. And if you stop with the derogatory comments you may be able to get through to some people and actually make some points. I love a good debate. I don't close my mind to someone unless they go on a personal attack. And then no matter how hard I try, that dialogue is over. I think a lot of people are like that. Just because you disagree with me though doesn't mean I'm going to close my mind to what you have to say.

Nationalism. To me it's like people lose their abstract perspective over their own personal interests. If we as a people don't get over our exclusionary instincts and start to evolve I'm not sure we're going to make it much longer. The problem is there are too many factions that want control over everything right now. Just consider how many there are. It's overwhelming.
There is a theoretical physicist named Michio Kaku from New York University. He highlights the progression of civilizations in 4 stages in one of his books. It's an idea that an astronomer Nikolai Karashev came up with. Right now we're not even to the first stage. We're a type 0 civilization. Until we begin to learn to work together we'll never make it to type 1.
Michio Kaku wonders if we'll ever make it there. It's an intriguing intellectual exercise. I don't know if we will either. I think we have the potential to. But I think we have more the potential to knock ourselves back into the stone age.

The separation between the rich and the poor is far more evident in Communist regimes around the world. A boat ride to Cuba will show us that. That is what communism devolves into. And that's why I oppose it. There are very rich people here in this country, and there are also poor. But there is also the vast middle class who get along fine. The poor in this country cannot even compare their situation to the plights of those in other communist countries around the world. Anyone who has the drive, determination and talent can succeed in this country precisely because of capitalism.

Honzolo, nobody can claim to walk in step with a political party. If they do then there's something wrong with them. Namely they're a zombie. hehe. The only real reason people feel the need to hate others based on thier nationality has NOTHING to do with current events,current governments,current economic conditions ,etc...or even common wisdom or reason.
It has everything to do with the base "human urge of self-validation through hating others".
You can find clear proof of this from a simple poll that was taken in France in 1968.The poll basically asked the people of France who they felt the most closest too,nation wise , and whom they felt the least closest too.
The answers were amazing , at least to those who didnt understand the above point.The French felt MOST closest to the Germans who had multiple times over the last circa 70 years attacked or fought wars against the French.The nation the French felt least close too, was America who had defended and fought alongside the French.
The reason was simply.There was more "gain" of "self-esteem" to be gotten by hating the nation who seemed more successful, than there was to Hate the nation who had been defeated.
In other words, those who felt the base need to hate becuase of nationality in order to make themselves feel better about themselves ,chose to target that hate at the nation that appeared more successful over the nation that appeared less successful, becuase they could get a bigger "esteem" boost by doing so.

If this basic socialist principle also includes hating whites who to earn a little more money on average then darkies, then they therefore hate the whites. If this basic socialist principle also includes hating Christians, countries populated by a majority of Christians tends to be way more prosperous then any other religion on the planet, then therefore they hate Christians.

No, the problem is that you call us, the participators on these boards, socialists. If you were to refer to THE socialists then it would be a different story. But you refer back to the posters here. That's where we get offended. And that's the reason time after time we have asked you to show us the proof that we're socialists. Or if you can't to please stop the wrongful name calling.
If someone here has called you specifically a neo-con then call them out on it if it offends you. Tell them you're not and ask them to refrain. Well, if your goal is to get the lefts view on things by calling me a socialist, democrat, leftist, etc., then you're barking up the wrong tree. Because I'm not the left. I've explained that to you before.
I believe practically all of what Thomas Jefferson believed. As a matter of fact, if I could be Thomas Jefferson and trade in my brain I probably would. I think the dude was sheer genius. I have read book after book after book about him and still can't get enough. The only thing is I think I would change a few things about his personal life, but hey nobody's perfect.
I am a Libertarian. I would guess that I believe about 95% of the Libertarian platforms agenda. By far more than any of the other parties agendas that are out there. They have a set and spelled out goal of following the Constitution and the original intent of the founding fathers. To promote individual liberty, smaller government, and personal responsibility for decisions.
I don't like the Democrat party. Because it's for way more taxes than I like. Way bigger government. And I just don't appreciate something telling me that it knows what's best for me. Not to mention, I have some trouble trusting the government. It's interests, when given free reign, always turn out bad.
I don't like the Republican party (of late) because it's headed off on this evangelical holy land tour. I don't consider myself a christian. A deist most likely. Deism just makes sense to me. It fits in with science, progress, and with social harmony a lot more. Not to mention the Republican party is not the party of small government and decreased spending anymore. Bush is the biggest spending president in history. And he shows no signs of slowing down. And I know some people say it's because of the war, but I saw the other day that even if you take away the war expenses, he would still be the biggest spender. He hasn't vetoed one single spending bill. And this deal with the immigration policy is another sign of how far the Republican party has been bought out by special interest groups. It's not for the people anymore.
Now if you have to, keep a little notepad by your desk. Write down our nicknames and keep a running tab on what we believe. That way you won't offend us anymore and we may be able to have some productive conversations. And if you stop with the derogatory comments you may be able to get through to some people and actually make some points. I love a good debate. I don't close my mind to someone unless they go on a personal attack. And then no matter how hard I try, that dialogue is over. I think a lot of people are like that. Just because you disagree with me though doesn't mean I'm going to close my mind to what you have to say.
And like kimmar said, if anyone falsely accuses you of anything without being able to back it up, you've got the bear of us on their back too. Because that's not right. And I think you understand that.
I just want to say 2 things:
1) I am a Brit and I like the USA, and I am embarrassed that a visitor to our country would be treated badly because of decisions made by their government. When you compare the USA to other world powers, throughout the ages (including my own countries) basically it is the best. The media is to blame, well we are more informed nowadays and every nations dirty little secrets(we all have them) get exposed quick nowadays, so you have to take the broader view of any country nowadays to see its good points.
2) Anyone think the idea of nationalism is a bit annoying like me?
My relationship with my country is strange, sometimes I think ah the UK isn’t so bad, then some days I get annoyed by things the government does and am not so impressed, but as soon as I hear people slagging it off, a transformation comes over me, it is a bit scary how easily manipulated I am.
In the past nationalism may have provided a purpose to motivate the masses to go to war or whatnot (being used cynically by the powerful maybe) but in this world of the world wide web and globalism, maybe it is a bit out of date and just serves to divide us creating hate etc?
We are not our countries, why do we identify with them so much?
Nationalism. To me it's like people lose their abstract perspective over their own personal interests. If we as a people don't get over our exclusionary instincts and start to evolve I'm not sure we're going to make it much longer. The problem is there are too many factions that want control over everything right now. Just consider how many there are. It's overwhelming.
There is a theoretical physicist named Michio Kaku from New York University. He highlights the progression of civilizations in 4 stages in one of his books. It's an idea that an astronomer Nikolai Karashev came up with. Right now we're not even to the first stage. We're a type 0 civilization. Until we begin to learn to work together we'll never make it to type 1.
Michio Kaku wonders if we'll ever make it there. It's an intriguing intellectual exercise. I don't know if we will either. I think we have the potential to. But I think we have more the potential to knock ourselves back into the stone age.

And that's why I oppose it. There are very rich people here in this country, and there are also poor. But there is also the vast middle class who get along fine. Now there's something this conservative can agree with you on. The democrats suck, and the Republicans are not a lot better. We are left with little choice. Wish it wasn't that way. But even so, I still am not a Libertarian! So don't even start! LOL Even if I do agree with some of their philosophies.

I don't agree with everything that the Libertarian Party stands for. But they are the closest thing to Jeffersonian politics that you can get today. No other party comes closer.

Sometimes it's really cool to go back and read about people from history again. It can motivate you at times. Just go check this out. It's not that long of a read. When I read about people like Jefferson it gets my brain going. I wonder what it was like to be him.

The only real reason people feel the need to hate others based on thier nationality has NOTHING to do with current events,current governments,current economic conditions ,etc...or even common wisdom or reason.
It has everything to do with the base "human urge of self-validation through hating others".
You can find clear proof of this from a simple poll that was taken in France in 1968.The poll basically asked the people of France who they felt the most closest too,nation wise , and whom they felt the least closest too.
The answers were amazing , at least to those who didnt understand the above point.The French felt MOST closest to the Germans who had multiple times over the last circa 70 years attacked or fought wars against the French.The nation the French felt least close too, was America who had defended and fought alongside the French.
The reason was simply.There was more "gain" of "self-esteem" to be gotten by hating the nation who seemed more successful, than there was to Hate the nation who had been defeated.
In other words, those who felt the base need to hate becuase of nationality in order to make themselves feel better about themselves ,chose to target that hate at the nation that appeared more successful over the nation that appeared less successful, becuase they could get a bigger "esteem" boost by doing so.
