Middle Earth: Shadow of War is one of the most highly anticipated sequels of the year. And there’s a good reason why. The orignal mixed with the stealth action of the Assassin’s Creed series with the combat system of the Batman Arkham titles and slapped a healthy heap of Tolkien lore all over the thing. But now it has to live up to the expectations of its predecessor.

huh ...
While I think the world was a bit bland (it felt very constructed to support the jumping/climbing, whatever) it's that being surrounded by enemies that was the fun part.
Most of the time I wouldn't play the quests/missions and just find a fortress to harass. To me that was the meat of the game play.
I don't think that's "cheese" at all but rather a bit requiring you to be aware of what's around you all the time, realizing you needed to alter your position.
I'd go so far as to say we need more of this as the tiring part is going up against one opponent, one opponent, 3 opponents, two opponents. There is no excitement in that unless they are really tricked out such as a Dark Souls type boss.

sounds to me like you and I play it the same.
I"ll add that I try not to run away from fights like the OP suggests but stay and push myself. If I really become overrun I'll scamper up a wall and come down on the other side of the fight so I have a better vantage. That to me is the fun part and the challenge. How long can I keep the fight going as "non-stop" as possible.
