Like many of you who love cRPGs, when Larian Studios announced that it was making a sequel to Divinity: Original Sin, the heavens lit up. The KickStarter campaign funded almost immediately and hopes were set high for Divinity: Original Sin 2. I am here today to tell you that your hopes were not in vain and that it is everything we could have hoped for and so much more

At first glance I thought the picture was for ESO lol.

If this game comes to consoles I may pick it up. I had the first on PC but didn't particularly care for it.

The second is much-improved, alleviating a lot of what seems to be popular issues with the first.

I think it's one of the best RPG PC games released in years, and that even includes the likes of Witcher and PoE.

I want it but I'm not sure
    1) What the sys requirements are (my rig was new with Windows 7 and still runs great)
    2) How can I make the time to play all these games I have?

Thanks, Forgrimm. Believe it or not, my old war machine can do it. My only concern is with the graphics card because I can't tell if my NVIDIA meets the requirements since they messed up their naming scheme. (And I'm at work so I can't grab the box and find out.)

Today's lesson, don't be afraid to spend the extra $100 on a processor when building your computer. I have an i7 from 7 years ago that can still outperform chips made today.

Good review Suzie. This game is as close to a 10 as I've seen in quite a while.

Who would have thought 3 or 4 years ago that this type of turn-based CRPG not only would be revived but that one would be so well made that it can compete on even terms with the best of the best of the 3D action ones?

Do you know the number of the card off-hand?

I have never felt inclined to give a game a 10/10 before but this is as close as I've come. A patch or two to fix broken quests and something to improve inventory management (a search function would do it!) and the quest journal and I could see it happening. It's absolutely the best game I have played ..well, maybe ever.

I love it too.  Note it plays well on a 3rd gen i3 with 8gb of ram and an nvidia 560.

Forgrimm, I have the box here. It's GeForce GTX 750TI so it should be able to handle it. (I got a low end card last year when my previous card started having issues with its fan.)

great review. Love the game but agree on the issues. I just finished it today and even with some disconnects/issues I still find it a must play for RPG fans.

Love the game but I wish I'd waited a month or so until they patched those annoying bugs. How the broken quest one got pass quality assurance and the testers is beyond me.

I'm enjoying it, but I think its a bit overrated. The first DOS was extremely innovative, and while this one might take some steps forward, it also introduced some changes that don't seem that good to me.

The biggest issue is the combat; it kind of feels like a step back in some key ways. For example, the new armor/magic armor system basically forces you to take a party of either all physical damage dealers or all magic damage dealers backed by support skills (magic or physical).

Don't want to sound like a negative nancy though ;) Its a blast and definitely one of the best crpgs ever made, but it hasn't grabbed me to the extent Dragon's Dogma, Dragon Age Origins, or Witcher 3 did.

All reviews rate this game very high, and some say it takes the throne long held by Baldurs gate 2.
I am only 12 hours in and taking it real slow, but so far it has been great. Combat especially is extremely tactical and some minor adjustments can turn an impossible fight into a win.. which means save&load is an essential part of the game.
Always a few strange mechanics to get used to in a new game, and of course you have to enjoy slow paced rpg with a lot of reading and thinking about your decisions, but so far.. Yeah it could be the best game I played in years.

Take Baldur's Gate, update it with 3D 2017 graphics, add voice for all the characters and NPCs, come up with a deep ability system that outdoes official D&D, write a story that's near book quality... pretty simple really :)

There's a mod on the Steam Workshop that increased mob health while decreasing their overall armor ratings.  (On normal difficulty, it decreases the armor ratings by 33% while increasing health by 50%).  That will allow you some breathing room to carry a party of more diverse physical/magical DPS.

I'm currently playing Original Sin Enhanced Edition on PS4 and i am totally in love with it. I can't wait for OS2 to release on PS4 too. I could get it on Steam but this is one of those games which i MUST have a physical version on my shelf.

    Such a great series.

Great game. Glad you included mentioning the broken quests. Stopped playing after I left the island due to about seven quests that I 100% completed saying "failure". Since they included the editor in the "tools" section of Steam -- and assets for free in the DLC section -- the making of custom campaigns and worlds is a reality. They even allow you to import custom work and make your campaign Story Mode or GM ready.

Waiting for this week's bug fixes, which note fixing bugged quests.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

A well built (and used) DPS character will shred the entire armor (physical or magical depending of build) of an enemy in its first turn except for a few bosses. You don't need to go all physicals or all magical.

? I am not sure what difference that makes. Even if you are strong enough to do that, assuming one character strips the magic armor, the next character will have to do magic damage to reduce the mob's health, or use magic-based cc to control the mob. Therefore it is better to stack the same-type of damage so that you can reliably kill and keep the mobs under control.

Also, while I have only played 30 hours so far, I am certainly not able to remove all the armor in one turn of many mobs (and most fights I am outnumbered). So yes maybe at some point I will be so OP that the game mechanics don't mean anything, but even in your example it is still far better to have another damage dealer or cc of the same type to follow up with.

Not sure what classes you have picked but mix and match them and combat will be fun. I have 2 melee and 2 magic. 1 melee uses 2h warfare+necro (heal+summon), another uses daggers scoundrel+huntsman+necro (heals+summon), 1 magic dual wands pyro+geo (magic+buffer), another magic staff aero+hydro (heals+stuns+shields). I only had trouble in fight against alexander, that stupid worm came out of nowhere, so far. Also leech talent is very good.

Coming to the mobs if you notice can see melee type mobs have low magic shields and magic type mobs have low physical shields. Beat down the magic types fast and combat will go smoothly.

Oh also try to keep your guys separate as best as you can so that not all of them will get hit by aoes.
