MU Legend just came out and I'm enjoying it. In the peak evening hours I still do competitive 3v3 arena in WOW. If I have the free time I'll go back to Path of Exile. Here are top, long term goals that keep me interested in these three games.
MU Legend - To excel with my character and role I picked both in gear and skill as I go through the content, obtaining loot and currency. PvP will be a side thing as well in end game.
WOW 3v3 arena - Gladiator (0.4%) and rank 1 gladiator (0.1%) are indeed long term goals, especially in a game when its mainly the good, veteran players left playing after many years of practice. So, I like the challenge.
Path of Exile - Solo Self Found Hardcore league, racing to get to level 100 on the first page before the rest is a thrill and challenge I love to take. I was unfortunate last season as I was gone for a while, rusty too, but still end up in top 120 in first few weeks before I stopped.
All of the above games for me are also currently and completely F2P, so they are all just a filler up until that great AAA MMORPG arrives hopefully by 2020.
Can't really conceive why game hopping is of interest.

Personally, I am playing Diablo 3, Destiny 2, warframe, ME Andromeda, Trine 2, Torchligh2, Alien Isolation .. and there are probably ones that I forget. And to be honest, some I have not touched in weeks but probably would go back when i feel like it.
This weekend? It is probably the netflix punisher. And yes, netflix and tv (plus some novels I need to catch up) are also competition to my gaming.
- DDO
- Neverwinter
- LotRO
- AoC
- PotBS
- SWToR
- Drakensang Online
Plus 9 single player games
I too hop. I usually have a goal in game (max level was only in 3 games) and will play alot until that goal is reached and then shift to a different game.
AoC was to play during the World Boss events so I could get the cloaks on my 2 max level characters.
DDO just got a big play time for the Halloween event and then I was working on the goal of raising all my old completed dungeons to Elite for Favor points.
Neverwinter was a try out as I attempted to beta it back in the day, but my computer couldn't handle it. Came back to see just how much D&D flavor it actually had.
Right now I'm working on LotRO as I found I somehow had skipped a big portion of the Epic quest line so I'm back filling in the gap so to speak.
Played Titan Quest: AE (SPG) hard to complete it (well the first level of difficulty).
Most of my games are in the same genre, but all offer different play styles / enviroment. Like the old jiggle goes 'sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't'. Really just depends on what I want to do and how much time I want to play. LotRO and Titan Quest are / were big time sinks, but most of the rest aren't.

Not really. Back when all games needed a sub it made sense to be more loyal and just play that game after all you were spending money on it!
Now with most being F2p the jumping doesn't cost you anything but the time you play.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
I'm actually playing the Witcher 3 right now and find the stories and characters a bit dull for me compared to games 1 and 2. Even though it is a superior in terms of usability and stability I feel it suffers a bit due to trying to provide too much content. This can make even the best of side quests start to feel like a chore. The main story definitely suffers from this. If they had made the games smaller and the consequences of your actions all carried over from game to game it would have been an even better series. I think developers these days try too much to aim for a large audience and the games suffer for it.
For me the Witcher 1 and 2 had such fun stories and characters. I especially liked the portrayal of Dwarves and non-humans. This struggle didn't have much importance in the third game as it was more about finding Ciri. This, when combined with the quantity of quests, tests my patience.
I also miss the more optional fun things like the collectible cards in games 1. It was just humorous to me and lightened the mood of the game. In 2 you had some funny things like the Succubus quest, the peasant's crystal, and the man who wanted the harpy feathers to make a chicken outfit. Perhaps I am easily amused in an immature way, but I thought that was funny.
The first game had some good characters, quests, and dialogue. The second game I enjoyed Iorveth's path a lot. I especially enjoyed the Dwarven city of Vergen, the Dwarves, Saskia, and Phillipa. The third game has some good characters, but the quests are a bit more generic and lose some meaning because of the quantity.
There is too much loot in the Witcher 3. The game is a non-stop loot fest. In the first two games, the loot was occasionally upgraded and I never felt a need to go after the absolute best gear Most of it just picked up from killing things I happened to come across. In the Witcher 3 there is loot every few steps and a million things to upgrade. To me, this isn't much fun. It gets quite tedious quickly. There are a lot of quests just for getting weapon and armor sets.
The combat is the Witcher 1 is pretty bad I'll admit. It is something I overlooked due to the story be enjoyable to me. The combat in the second game is hard, but it actually works fairly well. I'd say it's a more difficult combat than in the 3rd game. It's also more arcade style so many people were turned off by that. The third game has fairly solid combat, but it's pretty easy even on the hardest difficulty. This is again likely due to the sheer scope of the game. The didn't have time to focus on individual encounters. It's still fun to play.
Overall I just wish developers wouldn't focus so much on size and open world. Instead, I'd prefer a smaller game with some fun easter eggs thrown in.
Right now I'm in the single player phase to enjoy the Oxygen Not Included update, and the new Zachtronic game Opus Magnum (on the last chapter).
The new MMO was Albion Online. I really loved that crafting was useful for making items for your CURRENT LEVEL, but the grind just felt wrong to me. Though I imagine that a grinding game, that is also set up so that good grinders also had social power is loved by some of the player base (people think that GvG being only 5v5 was a clumsy design, rather than an intentional one to give leaders and grinders social power).

100% disagree, there is not a Triple A mmo in the entire market, just because a game is better than others doesn't make it a AAA.
Example, not having housing in a mmorpg situation is totally unacceptable. No eco system means slack game design,FUN quests have NOTHING to do with meeting the criteria for which your game represents,99% of mmorpg quests are non related to the reward they represent and the list of wrong or poor or lacking in design areas just keep saying that even the top mmorpg's are not even close to being AAA,more like 5/10 and missing TOO MUCH.
So we play these mmo's for a couple ideas and NOT for the entire game they represent, example some only for crafting/economy,some just to pvp, some just to explore and some just to meet people and some just for end game etc etc. When yo uare what i call "superficial gaming"then naturally you will constantly get bored and feel the need to keep switching between games/genres.
I will use my own example,i enjoyed UT98/99 so much,it was for the most part, the only game i played for MANY years, about 5 to be exact,i was hardly game hoping at al,to me the design to which it represented "arena pvp"was near perfect and great FAIR fun,not some cash shop game.

There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.
