    I'm guessing..... PS3....

They need another great game premise they can half-finish then stick into early access for a few years while they slap micro-transactions all over everything.

    Everquest: Whenever. Can't wait...

I am sorry, EQ:N was supposed to be my new home, I am still saltier then the sea about that one.

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

Won't get my hopes up but will keep an eye open for EQ

An EQ Sequel would be awesome. I was really looking forward for Everquest Next also to be a new home in the MMORPG genre for me. But until now, Daybreak only had a negative reputation in my opinion with its bad communication to the community, particularly with regards to the stop of EQ Next and Landmark development, and the initial firing a great part of really motivated EQNext dev team members.
I am very suspicious for their future projects and a lot will be needed to get my trust.

They lost with how they handled the split and then canned the projects they were working on. F. Daybreak Games.

I know people hate to hear it, but they actually handled things really well. SOE was hemorrhaging money and were trying to hurry titles out the door as quickly as possible in hopes of hitting a jackpot somewhere along the way.

Unfortunately the the sunk cost fallacy came into play at the end of SOE, and it does with a lot of game companies. This is further complicated because it's more difficult to abandon a project that is very transparent, because you've already engaged the community.

In the end, CN came in and made BUSINESS decisions, not emotional ones. The fact that they're hiring now probably indicates that the chaos is now back to a manageable level, meaning they can start to think about new products again. I really hope that they'll revisit EQN now. I think that it could be the path of least resistence. Even if they had to tear down the entire engine and rebuild from scratch, they would at least have the art assets, which are becoming a much more expensive part to a game these days.
The only caveat I'd add, the art assets could be reusable, but that was one of the areas that drew the most initial resistance.  A lot of people simply didn't like the artistic style that SOE was using with this project.  The existing LM/EQ:N art assets might cut costs for another game, not necessarily an EQ related game.  EQ:N got away from both SOE and Daybreak.  A clean slate wouldn't be a bad idea if Daybreak is really looking to start development on a new project.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Not sure why I'd touch this when they have the same tired, washed up developers, etc. running the show there.
