"So there is no chance of the game being purchased by another company like they did with Atlantica Online?

Well any other developer (if they want to future develop it) or publisher (if they want to re-publish it) could open a line to Bluehole asking to do just that. But it would not make any sane sense given the game has not been in development for awhile now. Outright purchasing it would also not be cheap because Devilian relies quite a bit on intellectual property from Tera. Plenty of graphics plus code logic used for various game systems. Makes no logical and economic sense. Better to just let it go already.

Humm... I wonder how well Lost Ark will do when it finally hits the western market?

Over time, it won't do any better if it makes it to the west. Korean developer at its core with designs and netcode meant for Korea. They will have to deal with the same technical adjustments of deploying it in heterogenous regions where latency becomes an issue along with trying to run events across multiple time zones. This isn't even touching on business model which is going to have game systems designed around cash shop friendly items.

Until there is an actual Korean game studio that fully builds their game systems using designs that are acceptable for a western audience (hell will freeze over before that happens), the main reason why they will end up releasing their game in the west is to milk whatever money they can from that audience.

While it's true that the game had no supporting development. They planned on continuing the game until the end of the year with some events and cash-shop pitches they still had in their belt. The reason they're suddenly pulling it is due to the Windows 10 update making the game unplayable for a number of people. And with no devs to fix it, the company was already parsing out compensations to players who could no longer play. That's why the publisher and developer mutually agreed to shut it down. If you have Windows 10 but haven't been active. I recommend installing/updating the game and trying to play. And if you can't, contact their customer support and tell them you can't play because of compatibility issues. They'll extend the transfer offer to you as well despite not being active. Since it's part of their terms of service to support the games compatibility for use. Failure to do so will result in them being sued by the consumer protection agency unless they compensate you for your purchases/balance.

As DMKano correctly points out, these mmo-arpg hybrids do not do well in the West.

I think they would if they were made here, for here. Also, POE is an example of one that does JUST fine. :)

This. I've only ever liked one game that was ported from the East. Dragon's Prophet. But generally I don't like them because i'm not their audience. It's a game made for a culture that isn't mine. PoE is a great example of taking that style and making it for the west and seeing success.

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

The developer delivered a crummy game to the west.  trion really wasn't to blame on this one.  Rather than improve the game and let it catch up with what Korea had, the developers apparently have switched to mobile gaming.

The game it self may not made them much money they may have moved them over PUBG who knows. The things I didn't like about Devilian. The class didn't stick on me so made leveling not to exciting for me.

I guess whales have their limits. But seriously, when the game first came out I wanted to try it but seeing as how I was burnt so badly by Archeage the first time I did not trust Trino after that. Not wanting to take a chance on getting burnt again I refused to play it in spite of all of the positive hype.

    Whats Devilian?

I am familiar with most of everything that Trion has published. I wanted to love Rift but its to much of atheme park for me. I loved Archage until the pay to win became to much of an issue, but I still go back every once in awhile and spend a little time, epecially when they have their fresh-start servers. I even experimented with Trove some. So I am very surprised that this title escaped me.

Ahh well, I guess it doesnt matter now that its sun-setting.It doesn't looked like I missed much either.

If at first you don’t succeed, call it version 1.0
