Rust News - The Rust site has been updated with the big news that the game will finally be leaving early access after over four years. The target date is set for February 8, 2018. There are no plans for "any big reveals, launch parties, around the world tours or cash prize giveaways for this event. We're not going to move staff onto other projects. It's very much going to happen without much fuss. It's business as usual."

And H1Z1 is still in EA. The "First one to arrive, last one to leave," motto isn't good in this regard.

As is so often the case, moving out of early access is just an excuse to change the monetization model.

Well you say that but there's one thing I haven't been able to understand since PUBG came out of EA. Ark supposedly HAD to increase their price (which was increasing the base game to 59.99 and the 2 expansions were sold separately), but PUBG didn't?

    It's a good game. It's not for everyone - but it's a good game.
    It's extremely fun with friends.
I have like 200 hours in the game and had tons of awesome and funny moments throughout my time in the game.

Also, Garry is such a cool dude, I once contacted him about something very minor (related to RUST) and he actually responded. He's the kind of dev that's also a gamer at heart.

The game sure has come a long way and it's nice seeing it finally leaving Early Access.
Best of luck to Facepunch Studios with RUST and other future projects. :)

Eh... and I could still care less about this game (Can one even call it a game?), simply due to the fact they don't allow you to be who YOU want to be. Good it's leaving early access, but it's woefully incomplete as it were; last check; wolves, bears, and etc still walk around as if they're being drug on the ground by a pair of chipmunks dragging a magnet underground... right through ROCKS even. Then you have the playerbase. Oh gods... the playerbase.

Four years in EA. This is why I don't bother with games tagged EA any more. A study in frustration and disappointment for the most part.

I'm glad to hear tbh :) Finally..

I'm following and supporting Rust since it was just a mode in Garrys Mode. Played back in Vanilla (legacy) on Half Life 2 engine and still going back from time to time to see whats new on the game. The game ofc had ups and downs but I was never disappointed in all this long time experience. I never had so much fun in a single game before and I think it totally deserves the 20 bucks it costs since I have over 500 hours played on steam.

Rust will always be one of my favorite games definitely. :)

I mean, being part of the early access should give the players some benefit no? At least it's not a huge jump like ark.

Players of early access deserve something,  just not necessarily a reward.

I was thinking along the lines of something that would make a good episode of Black Mirror.
