Is their any reason people arnt playing Mutants it seems to be the least popular class by far and I was wondering why? I hear a ton about Biomeks and Humans but nothing about Mutants what dont you guys like Mutants?
Honestly, I don't know. I've played human and mutant, and mutant beats the hell out of human. Human missions are all pretty lame - but the mutant ones are almost ALL good. They're very well-written. Moreover, the mutant areas are much more fleshed out with better cities and environments.
One reason could be that some of the higher level mutant missions are broken, so people don't want to try the race. Well, the reason that I've seen them being broken is because they're complex. They're not all go to x and kill y. Because mutants get complex missions, there tends to be more problems with them. Once they get these ironed out, the race will be far superior.
Mutants rock to much for the normal MMO player. They just aren't good enough to handle a mutant.

I'd guess that it's mostly because they're the least impressive looking. Long time ago, I tried to suggest that they'd benefit from an image overhaul, but no one listened. Well, almost no one. They're not as bright green as they used to be. Still, most of thier the vehicles look like 70's volkswagons, thier pets are like glowing blobs of roadkill, and the green motif is still more cartoonish than the rugged badass look of Humans and Biomeks.
Sure, there are quest issues too, but I highly doubt that would discourage most players that much. Not if Mutants were really cool looking.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I guess it's completely up to you. Read up on their respective differences and check out their character graphics and go with whichever one makes you happy. Me, I chose Mutant and I love them. I happen to find the graphics for the mutants very appealing. They look cyberpunk to me - and tough as nails. I like them and am glad I picked them.
(and the automatic healing is a WONDERFUL perk of being a mutant.... saves me a lot of time in racing back to truck stops for repairs.)
Well, my copy of AA is on it's way and I'll deffinately be going mutant to start with. Not just because I like the look of them but becuase they are the the underdogs by the sound of it. Much more of a challenge than being a human with numbers on your side.
I have no idea why mutants are the smallest faction. In my opinion, I'd blame the insect-like look of their vehicles. I chose Meks because I always liked the machine army theme in MMOs. Mutants aren't hard to level, the problem was that back in beta most of their 30+ missions were bugged, which has been corrected. I'd dare to say that Biomeks have the toughest time leveling, at least they have the hardest terrains.
I made a mutant Shaman last night and I love the mutant area. The quests are extremely well written and I love playing in a brand new area. Man, this game is too adictive. There's just something about it that I have been missing in MMORPG's. As crazy as it sounds, the game is really immersive. I really wish I could express properly how great this game is, but I cant. I would however suggest that you have 2 gigs of ram, the graphics are really amazing and there's lots of flying debris and smoke and weather and heat shimmer and explosions; can really be taxing on your system.
I tried the human zone and didn't like it much. Tried the mutant zone and loved it !!! Who ever said leveling is harder on the mutant side is wrong. The landscape for the mutant side is a very nice dune like enviroment and makes vechile combat fast and easy IMHO.
P.S. Have you tried rolling a mutant ? No use complaining about it if you haven't rolled one. Oh and as someone else stated the auto +1 hp regen healing is nice especially at low levels.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
I love the mutants. yet, i have been doing alot better with my human character. personaly, i have been leveling alot faster as a human. plus, i think humans get more money for completing missions.
I agree that the insect-like vehicles can make people hesitate to take the Children of the Change side - I had, but I got used to it and woldn't trade my "Lublin IV"(I named it myself:) to hummie or meks crap:) The other reason peole don't choose muties may be the fact that muties are the only religious race in AA - a little bit elvish style, if you know what I mean. So why I chose to be mutant shaman? Honestly I knew they were the least popular side and wanted to play the least unexplored race in a new unexplored AA - so to say to be a pioneer of (let's hope) growing AA community:). But first of all it was the story - when I read the appendices in the manual it appeared obvious to me. Before the "honest nad noble" humans set off all massdestruction they had on Earth to get rid of mutants and other troubles, mutants suffered lot of misjustice and I took their side reading the story. I wanted to be like them, so I become one. // My stats in xfire aren't impressive:D. I installed it today. I've played AA for 5 hours so far.

Ascension - EU Mature, Friendly, Laid Back SW:TOR Guild now recruiting.
I will allways be Mutant though. They rocka nd have the coolest vehicles (IMO).
Heh.. although it's a car game, it's not a racing game.
I like the mutants because they're fun. Well written stories and interactive environments is a huge plus for me.
I play a mutant. I actually thought they looked cool. I planned on being a human but after getting the game I decided to play mutant. Very fun so far.
Humans = Easy mode.
