If you’ve ever wondered what life would be like if you lived in the middle ages, Warhorse Studios has your answer. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a sprawling open-world RPG in the vein of Skyrim but one that casts fantasy to the side in exchange for realism. It’s an amazingly detailed look at Bohemia in the year 1403, but does this commoner’s tale stack up to the open-world RPGs it’s trying to emulate?

1st person only isn't a fuck up. Its' a decision. And one that I can get behind. Now, invisible walls aren't necessary and bugs are a problem.

Choices. I like choices.
I choose 3rd person. I am still going to play it (waiting on my key) but will not enjoy it as much.

Apparently their is no quicksave or saving on exit . Only saves when you drink something and when you sleep.
THAT is something that should have been made perfectly clear before launch.
I'm keeping hopes up (downloading now) but man that looks bad.

I mean, there's really no issue. As long as it's made clear in game then drink something and log out.
Why does it have to be a drop down menu option or a big button?

I'm sure one of the first mods will be a weightless/alcohol-less Save Schnapps.

You really wouldn't buy a game because of the saving method?
I cannot fathom why Devs find this hard to accept. Gamers are OK with Devs controlling in-game aspects. Saving is not an in-game aspect. Saving has zero (0) impact in a SP game. Saving does not equal cheating. Saving equals "I want to quit playing now but I do not want to repeat content I have already experienced". Besides, if I DO want to "save scum" it is my right as a paying customer to do so. My fucking game, my fucking rules.

There's no law stating that a "save" system has to be implemented one way or another.
Now, if the game had "no" saving other than on logout then that breaks with what is the norm and would probably have to be mentioned. But implementing a button or sleeping or drinking or a drop down doesn't really need to be "a thing".
Well, unless you make it a thing.
In any case, if you bought the game on steam you can start your refund. I can't imagine you played for over 2 hours without looking for a save function.

I just lost about 30-40 minutes of gameplay because of the shitty save (or lack thereof) system.
Saved after talking to Mom. Saved after talking to Dad. Did not save for next three conversations I had with various people (trying not to spoil), including a main quest conversation. Game crashes, guess what? I'm back to Dad! Fuck that.
I'll wait until some good soul makes a Mod that gives Save Schnapps at the beginning of the game before I play this again. It's frickin 2018, give me AT LEAST a save on exiting the game.

I think I'm going to wait until they do another patch before I purchase.

I've been playing it off and on the past few days and this is my biggest complaint. No auto save or manual save function - tying your saves to an item in game makes no sense, especially when early on they are so expensive you can't afford them.
Essentially if you start something you need to see it through before quitting the game. This doesn't bode well for making sure you don't lose progress if a real-life issue crops up or a game crash (which in 20 hours so far it hasn't crashed since I got my early copy from PR).
It's definitely a factor in the overall purchase if anyone is still on the fence.
So there are a few NPCs early on that give you a handful of those, not sure how far you got with the early moments before the crash. But you're right, there needs to be a better way of handling the saves. Tying save states to in-game items makes zero sense. Literally None.

It does work. Just make sure your changes done in Notepad++ are saved to the .pac file.
Now I'm happy!

The save system was explained a long time ago, it even did the rounds of the gaming news last November.
What about sleeping? Doing some searching I see that one can visit a bath house or sleep in one's bed. Bath house might cost money but surely sleeping won't.
I don't see a problem tying saves to in game activities but I do see a problem where, if one is poor, they can't save.

I appreciate choice too, but I respect that 1st person is more immersive by design. I think it works really well in this game.
This is provided that one can craft these after one leaves the tutorial.
