What a horrible game !

HyperpsycrowHyperpsycrow Member RarePosts: 954
So it was free flight this weekend in SC...
My friend and me installed game with high hype and here the nightmare started..first of the game was laggy and poorly optimized..even the controles was horrible prolly due to lag and bad optimizing.

Then we spend like 1 H just to join the same server and try to use the invite to party. We had to watch youtube and read guides and allmost ask in the white house just to seach for clues how to invite each other..we managed to somehow login on the same server by random chance but we never got to be in same party.

Then 30 min later we managed to find out how we got the ship ready and he choosed some kind decent looking spaceship and i choosed a dragon something..then we laughed hard because his ship was like a huge motherload of a ship and i only had this space scooter looking thing...

By now he tryed to start his spaceship and got frustratet over how to actutaly controle it and take off because he was allready bummed out of the whole game. I wanted to fly this dame thing like a last thing to do before i quit the game for good.

So i entered the ship and pressed the power on botton and something with B key to enable something that was half assed explained.
Then i pressed another key and the engine started to spin and i was ready to take off..or i was hoping to fly soon. Tnen i pressed another key that was glowing yellow..that could be the handbrake or something....But no..it was the jumpseat botton and i ejected out in space and died...

It was the most horrible game i ever tryed..no guides ..no welcome..i know some people would say
" its a use ur brain game huehuehue"  Its 2018 here people...we dont think anymore we just do stuff here and now.
Games are not ment to use ur brain anymore..wake up devs

We spend more time out of the game reading up on old and crappy guides that gave us nothing but wasted time..

And btw wasent this ment to be ready 2014 starting on it 2012..Using way 2 much time..if they need to boil this soup any longer then they will end up overboiling the meatballs and they will loose the taste..prolly allready 2 late if you ask me.

But i wish you god speed and have a great succes with ur over boiled soup *gg

The game isn't finished yet. You're playing 5-10 years too early.

Check back when they've raised half a billion dollars.

P.S. you deserve whatever heat you get from the minions for this statement:

    But...

Did you pay 10,000 USD for a jpeg image showing what the game will look like in the future? If not, thats why your experience was so bad

Most of your complaint is about game performance, and lack of a friendly experience to new users, especially with controls.

Those are common issues of a game at this stage of development, those things will improve over time, there are major undertakings ongoing to improve its performance to ease up on the servers and client render, and things like tutorials are more for the future.

Aside from the performance, expecting the alpha to have a guided user experience for what is a sim is not that realistic, it really requires figuring out outside the game, that's why they created the articles for it here: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008192574

The guides and such are all there, in text and video; I think you were looking in the wrong places for help.

"Games are not meant to use ur brain anymore..wake up devs"
^^ Space Sims are famous to force you to use your brain, and infamous due to all the salty people who can't cope with their learning curves.

My experience wasn't so bad.  I launched then flew around a bit. . got bored and am waiting.  Just release squadron 42 and then I will know if it is worth bothering with the PU.

Buddy, it's not finished. Why the heck would you download something expecting anything other than "not finished/still in development?"

This is the issue with these "sneak peaks", some players just can't handle it.

No matter what one thinks of their development time or how they handle business, "the game is not finished."

If you dont' know what you are getting into then don't do it. :s

Kind of a silly premise then if you think about it... from a companies perspective, reflecting on the community.... what's the point of having "free weekends" if they aren't in a stage of beta where they're stress testing?

Lets be honest with how they expected it to go,  it's very likely they expected people to dig what is offered and put some money up to continue playing during development.

Most development companies don't try to entice players with free weekends during an alpha, that's generally reserved for testing. FREE testing.

Imo.  It's partially Chris Roberts fault.  (Or whatever his name is)  Mr star citizen.  He can't really expect to give a free demo and not have any criticism against it.  Who the fuck cares the game is not finished.   Free demo.  People hate it.  Good luck.

It's a rather standard practice, even AAA titles have been giving free access during early testing phases.

So quite frequent to see these days Alpha games with the free tests, or the more common giveaways of keys for testing events. Is all about marketing, letting play for free always has a conversion rate that results in new players buying the game.

Clearly SC will not be for everyone, but then no game ever is.

But first I think it best if we wait until its actually released as a game before getting all sorts of upset over how it currently plays.

But also, what does the company giving the free fly weekends expect? It's trash right now and they are inviting people to play for free (presumably to raise money).

If people have terrible experiences with the game in its current state, it's probably a good thing that people start voicing their opinions so that others can be more informed and make a more educated decision about whether right now is the right time to buy in.

I partially agree, he shouldn't give a "free weekend" without being very clear to those people who decide to try it.

Of course, players should think but do they really ever? They're just looking for something to play.

This genre is polluted with clueless devs and even more clueless players.

You are basing your conclusion on a very insignificant amount of complaints. You don't have access to the actual data. You don't know if these free weekends bring them more backers or not. This is a very old marketing technique dating back to the ancient Greece. So if this move brings them more cash, they should do it. Personal feelings and subjective statements are irrelevant.

And regarding the complaint. How could Star Citizen be more clear? The word alpha or their website listing what is playable? I don't think a person who doesn't want to use their brain when playing a video game, does like to spend much time reading about it either. I could be wrong though, it is just my own take. Because if OP was into reading, could've done what I do. I am a backer, but I haven't installed SC once. Because every time I feel like to do so, I do a quick Google "Star Citizen current state" and spend less than a minute to learn about the performance and playable features. I have passed on so far.

Besides the availability of features and functions as written material and videos--which do exist--why do you think a company is obligated to work their best to make sure everyone who is trying their free demo must understand what is going on? What amount of hand-holding is required in your opinion so people won't get somehow offended over a goddamned free demo?

I dont understand why all you people dont open ur eyes here..the game will never be finished and if they need 10 billion and 10 years to only make it this far then i pray for SC company. Cuz they need it.

And why da fuk do they invite people to see what a turd sandwitch this is..they are scaring people away.

But again i dont understand why you people in heer and in sc wake the hell up and see the real picture here..i dont care of its alpha or zeta or kappa or beta version...WAKE UP
