I know that wow has reached 5 million subscribers.... but I'd LOVE to know how many of those are still active.... I dont believe for a minute that they have 5 million active subs, I think they are counting all the subs created sinse launch weither they are active or closed.
WOW is the worst piece of unimaginitive crap to ever grace a computer screen on this planet. The tedius unimaginative game play and low budget graphics has managed to rot the minds of millions of subscribers world wide as it spreads like an insidious plague upon mankind. I have found this game to be the ultimate POS dressed up as a creative insightful game. I say cancel it now before it subverts the minds of everyone on the planet.

Hehe, ya but if it wasnt for the trolls, there wouldnt be much to talk about. At least after the first couple of posts where everyone shoots thier load talking about their great ideas that would surely revolutionize the MMOG genre.
Eve-online is a really cool game, I played it a bit (couple million SP level), but Im one of those guys that really needs an avatar if Im going to get into a game. If they would have made space stations explorable with bars and whatnot I would still be playing. First or 3rd person would be fine.
I agree with most of the legitimate gripes about WoW but it is the pinical of its particular MMO generation, no one has even come close to creating as viberant a world as the one in WoW. I still enjoy the game a great deal but play other games in the mean time (while waitin for xp bonus to build), and those serve to fullfill the places that WoW misses or more accurately wasnt designed to hit. Deep tactics with Rome Total War, skill based PVP with BF2, etc.
I belive the next generation of MMOs is shaping up to be a complete wash. I see very little innovation anywhere, except TabulaRasa and I am very skeptical ,someone please remind me the last time Richard Garriot made anything worth playing? Ooops someone stop me quick Im not a devotee...

I don't have much to say about the review, besides it was a bad way to view it. I've played my end of the MMORPGs such as FFXI, Lineage 2, GW, and WoW. All in all my World of Warcraft expierence brought me back, because there is endless things to do. You can't give Guild Wars tons of credit because you can only see people when you in towns unless you party in a group with 4-8 people. Lineage 2 takes twice as long compared to WoW to level up, I think after 2 weeks on it I was level 20. However I thought Final Fantasy was the worse in my opinion. The texture detail was so horrible I thought I was playing something I downloaded off the internet for free. Once I was killed by this giant bunny, I gave up on the Japenese populated game. I like WoW because it was created in the United States and it has many things to offer. Sure it takes a while to level up, but is if not what is the experience about playing it for? I'm pretty sure WoW isn't the first to have naked people lap dancing immature teens. Like other people said, the game depends upon the gamer. You think WoW sucks? I think your review sucks even worse.
There are a lot of bad things in WoW like in any other MMO, however WoW did attract a lot of female customers who are now more likely to try other MMO's.
Good game up to lvl 59, totally lacks end game unless your a geek with no life, worse community ever, all wankers, nerds and air head arrogant spoon fed dorks.

Yeah thats true if it wasn't for the trolls there would be a whole lot less to talk about. Your right about EVE online. I generally split my playing time between it and something that involves me having a body mainly FPS at the moment since EVE is so slow and thoughtful those are the exact opposite makes for a good contrast.
I have been struggling for a replacement for SWG ever since the NGE came out myself haven't managed to find that perfect game yet. Roma Victor looks pretty promising from a game play/rich environment perspective, but since its mainly historical based it probably won't be for all. I hope its as good as it sounds(still in beta).
Actually I was hired by no one. It's an extra-credit opportunity I took advantage of from my game development course professor. I was to post my review on a supportive forum, and then on an incongnizant forum and see the results. Just as I thought... all of the WoWers were very much unsupportive. All of the EQers were very much supportive. Thanks for the half of 10pts . Don't think this means I don't support my review though.
P.S. My prof. plays on Stormreaver and gave me a 95% on my review, only thing I did wrong in his eyes is too much emotion involved... as if I, as the writer, personally hated this game (which i dont hate it, just don't like it).
you know what OP..playing the game need more consentration you have to put in mind that playing the game is just for fun..and knowing the fact that your not enjoying then quit!

I know the only reason I am posting here is cause I cancelled my account. I won't shell out money for a game that bores me. But that being said I would love to return.. if they fix world pvp right.. cause if not .. no matter what they do I will hit that wall again and it makes the effort of expansions pointless.
Little reason to buy a 40 dollar game to play it for a month or two adding an additional 15 bucks a month while I am just to hit the dead end and quit again... I am just doing now and sticking to what I would have done in the future anyway .. cancelled my account to save money cause it is not worth the money invested.
They best get in gear and rework world pvp if they want to keep casuals... then again 15 bucks is still worth it for most... especially if people's only way to find other decent people like themselves is to play online.
Personally I think my town has too many drunks/pill poppers but that's just me.

Point of fact, it is so popular because it is so easy to play. If you choose to spend 5-6 hours playing at a time, you can. If you only want to play for a bit, there's that option as well. If you want to raid, the option is there, if you want to PvP the option is there. If you want to cry about how you got PWND by some one wearing T2 armor and weapons, well you can do that too. My suggestion is to stay away from the people with the big bad raid gear.
The graphics are fine the way they are, but they are begginning to show their age when compared to new games gamming out soon. I am more concerned about the sever quality, that seems to be going down hill. IMO there is no excuse that Blizzard can use to justify this any longer. 6,000,000 (# subs) x $13.00 (quarterly fees)= $78,000,000 a month right now, according to their own boasting. This is the only thing that irritates me about the game. But I still play it for 5-6 hours every day.

Every content "option" you have in the game is terrible. Solo? Sure, spend your time running through the exact same quests placed in different towns all day by yourself. When I think fun, I think repetitive and lonely. Group play? It's happened before, but the extreme lack of social skills present in this game makes party play seem more like babysitting monkies. Instances? Babysitting monkies while clearing out room after room hoping some slightly powerful and just as boring enemy drops something worth something. PvP? What a joke. Run around a PvP server for hours hoping you can gank somebody, or grind out the honor in a battleground with a bunch of monkies over and over and over and over. End game? Oh, it's like every single part of the rest of the game; ie boring instances you run repeatedly with a bunch of monkies hoping something drops worth something.
I wouldn't call WoW the worst game ever but is it a game with problems yes. The end game of wow is far to intensive for most people to get into which is why I quit I don't feel like grinding MC and BWL all the time I enjoy real life as well. Other than the fact that raiders outgear and kick the crap out of no raiders the games not so bad. If they gave casual players a way to compete with raiders gear maybe they have to work a month for 2 set peices like a raider or any way for a casual player to pve and get raid = gear I think that would make the game awesome. However as it stands the over focus on raid content is what has made the game far less fun.
