Intrepid Studios has announced that its stand alone title, Ashes of Creation Apocalypse, will be launching into open beta on December 18th for Windows PC. Apocalypse is a standalone game for those who enjoy competitive play pitting themselves against other players. Apocalypse will feature a battle royale mode for up to 100 players duking it out to be the last one standing. Post-launch, Intrepid plans to launch a 200-player castle siege mode, co-op horde missions and much more.

Yeah right, ask the Fortnite players how well that concept works.

This does give me paragon vibes. I put a lot of time into that game only to have it destroyed by devs who didn't have a clear vision for the direction of the game and the battle royale movement. If one of these were to be a big hit, the same thing would happen to all the other versions being developed. I am overly cautious about this.

Lol Baiters...
Your personal rumor? There are no credible rumors like what you just said...
Personally a bad idea making a separate game, but good way to test the main reason for the MMO game.
They hopefully will set this test as a test and state that it'll be closed in 6 months, to give the twitch crowd an intro into what this type of game will be.
We'll see what happens to Ashes, hopefully it keeps focus on the MMO or it might disappear.
If they will actually update this, it will only grow my disappointment in them

It's pretty clear from how much effort they've invested in their web page on Apocalypse, billed as a standalone game with plans to deliver a whole lot more isn't a one and done.

Only thing left now is how they monetize it, F2P with cash shop as I betting, with purchases here counting towards something in the MMORPG.
Stephen is probably the slickest of all these slick willy dev leads, starting to surpass the master, C.R. who he is clearly taking queues from.
He's just reversed the order, SC had a single player game first, which is the base to test systems for the MMORPG. In Ashes, the MMORPG came first, but has spawned a free standing BR game..."to test the systems"
Good thing most gamers are too savvy to fall for such sleight of hand tricks, right?

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Don't waste your breath, these tubes will see what they want to see, not what the piece actually says.. Ignore them, they go away eventually.
Also why were they so zoomed in?
I know to make the combat look better then it really is. I watched a few streams of the devs playing and the combat was dated and boring. But who knows may be they have been working on it? Guess we just have to wait to see what the MMO looks like.
