    A couple things ...

Star Stable is NOT a Facebook game. The game is downloaded and playable on PCs and Macs.

Star Stable is alive and well, with a robust player community, hosted on dozens of language-specific servers. It's notable that players can easily switch from one server to another (at no cost), and the number of English language servers is extensive.

Admittedly, Star Stable is not for everyone, but given the number of YouTube streams, hosted by young and "older" women, the game seems to have found a solid Niche. (There are a few YouTube streams done by men, also.)

Star Stable is story oriented, with a vast quantity of quests, mostly fetch, collect, and convey items from one NPC to another. But there are also many puzzle-style quests that are often quite challenging. Then there are the races -- scores of them -- cross country races, jumping, orienteering, which are highly engaging. Dozens of races can be thought of as "dailies" and they are player vs. clock/obstacles, but there are also many Championship races each day where players compete against other players. Each of the scores of race courses is unique, offering quite varying obstacles and circuits. Races are the primary means of leveling up horses, which improves their performance. Story quests are the main way of leveling up your player-avatar.

One of the important goals in the game is attaining "Reputation" with the many towns, regions, and farms. Each of these offers a variety of clothing and tack that improves horse speed, jumping ability, agility, and rider control. Higher reputation makes better gear available. Local daily quests, story quests, and races are the means of gaining reputation.

I came to Star Stable because I was more than over all the shooting, bashing, and slashing. This game provides a huge open world that is varied and lovely (a major portion of the world underwent a significant overhaul a couple of months ago). Content is constantly added or updated, with something new every Wednesday. New/improved horse breeds are added regularly, and new story quests appear once or twice monthly. In addition, there are seasonal events throughout the year, and these are not repetitive events -- they seem to change each year. One interesting feature is a side-app whereby smartphone users can raise and train foals; once they reach level-10, the adult horses can be ported into the Star Stable MMO. I've done this several times and it's a most efficient and engaging way to level up a horse.

I do understand why a lot of gamers will get all snarky about this game. It's mostly casual, clearly targeted at a younger female base, there's no hack and slash, and the chat feature is locked down to the point that foul language and toxicity are all but impossible. That said, this game is seven years old (at this writing), is well populated, and continues to grow and improve with regard to content. Laugh if you must, but this game has clearly succeeded by any measure.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. :)  I'd read through previous comments by people who were clueless about the game, but had no problem commenting nonetheless. A correction was overdue.
