If you're a fan of the DUNE universe, we've got big news for you: Funcom and Legendary Studios have teamed up to create games set in the DUNE universe. This is a six-year partnership and will include at least three games for both PC and console platforms. One game is going to be an open world multiplayer game that will be starting production this year.

    I've played Conan Exiles, The Secret World / Secret World Legends and Age of Conan and have enjoyed my time in all of them. While they're not games that I've played "religiously" for long periods of time, they're all games that I would return to time and again.

    I was super happy till I saw made by Funcom... This is a company who has made 3 failed games. They haven't made a great game since Anarchy Online. All the rest of their games are just meh.

    If Conan were open world and not zones with loading screens it would have been a tremendous success... picked it up years after release and it managed to get me hooked. But the loading screens made the game feel dead and non-persistent...

    secret world was ok, but I give the legends is a really bad game

    A new Anarchy Online game would be amazing.

    I thought the story and quests in Secret World were worth playing through. The rest, not so much.

    I have to hand it to Funcom, they try to be different at least. They are worth following, but they need a winner this time around.

    I would be highly disappointed if the open world multiplayer ended up being, essentially, a Conan Exiles reskin.  Doing a Dune survival game would be like using the Game of Thrones IP to create a simple snow-laden survival game.  Sure, it technically fits the scenery, but such a game would completely miss what makes the IP enjoyable.  And the cynic in me can't bring myself to expect more until I see it with my own eyes.  :/

    Hopefully more than just a Dune-themed survival or looter-shooter. The Dune universe deserves a full-on MMO... although I have to say, I did enjoy the Dune RTS games back when RTS was a brand new thing.

    Nah man. Funcom ain't the same Funcom as when Ragnar Tørnquist was at the helm and even then it was sorta janky. This is like finding out David Lynch is handling the Dune reboot. That's not to say Lynchs Dune didn't have nice things about it but maaaaaaan oh man PLEASE NO!

    This title is long overdue to me made into a mmorpg. Hot damn I am excited. I don't care it it's made by Milton Bradley. It's DUNE!!!!!!!

    I have no dislike of Funcom, they gave me Anarchy Online (my first MMO love) and I bought a lifetime membership for TSW (my only one ever) and haven't regretted it.

    And Dune, its Dune.

    Best news in ages and i am all in, can't frigging wait!

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'

    It seems to me if you're a fan of source material, Funcom is a best case scenario. One of the few companies who atleast attempt to match the tone of a setting and keep things semi-canon.

    To all the people commenting negatively against Funcom, who would be your better choice?

    I've been dreaming of an Anarchy Online 2 for a long time.  But they'll never do it.  I forgot to stay on topic I just loved Anarchy Online.
