A now-deleted Borderlands 3 Twitter post has caused a stir in the community with its revelation of a September 13th release date and the mention of preorder bonuses in the form of weapon skins. In addition, eagle-eyed Twitter user Wario64 also caught a now-deleted post with a brief video showing the Epic Games Store logo in the corner, possibly hinting at a timed exclusive. Gearbox's Randy Pitchford addressed irate fans on his Twitter saying that marketing decisions like this belong to 2K/Take2.

I don't care. I haven't bothered with Epic Store yet but I will be getting it if BL3 is on it (and not on Steam).

No point getting upset about it. I WILL be playing BL3 multiplayer with friends so I have no other option.

I hope that release date is true. I kind of think it is. I think they did it 100% intentionally to make us think it was an April fools.. but it really isn't.. and that's the joke.

Surprised Discord never get any of these games.

Considering the time I spend on mmorpgs and the amount of games I have on backlog, I can afford to skip titles that I would not otherwise. The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 at around the same timeframe will even reinforce my decision to completely skip this game.

As far as I'm concerned, exclusive equals non existent.

No one should care. It's a full on meme at this point.

I feel like people perpetuate it because they know they can get a rise out of people. Hell, even SBFord put a picture of eating popcorn up to kick this discussion off.

Epic is fine. The only thing it lacks at this point in a friends list. Brand loyalty is stupid. Get over it.

I feel like if Epic hadn't made Fortnite people wouldn't hate on the Epic Store.

    It's a bad gaming platform.
    Pure and simple.
I want to have all my games in one place.
And now I'm "forced" to go to a platform that is inferior to many others out there.
And it's another one.. Its already annoying enough having to open Battlenet for Destiny2, Uplay for Division2, Origin for Anthem and so on.
But at least those platforms have friends list, overlays to avoid alt+tab, etc..

I think it's fine. If people want to keep a list they can just, you know, write down their info. Contact them on their own. Get the band together by calling or texting or emailing or voice chat or any of the other incredible ways that are available to us.

Or maybe that's just too much effort? :(

You know it's interesting that the lead developer didn't dare utter a thing about the exclusive deal during the reveal and sort of sneaked out the news during April's 1st to lessen the impact.

They probably signed a deal without even taking note of the current climate.

I mean this is the same company that didn't bother looking into G2A before announcing a partnership with them.

Do your research.  Epic is not fine, it is a bare bones platform masked as an information sucker.  It accesses your PCs files without your knowledge (Oh I'm sure it's smashed somewhere in their terms) it snoops your Steam setup, your system settings and who knows what else.  When you start off like that, you know they are up to no good.

I'ts laughable that consumers are so eager to toss money at something for the sake of zeitgeist that they don't care the consequences of their act in a grand scale. It will hurt you in the end, no matter what.
These are video games, so what "consequences?" It's fluff, some entertainment.

I could understand if you were arguing buying from a local vendor in the community over some faceless corporation you will never really see, but arguing between two faceless corporations?

Good on anyone who wants to play the game and just buys it without listening to the segment of the community who wrings their hands and gnash their teeth over nothing.

Not worth the bother to buy games that Steam does not have also. I like having one place that has all the games i buy where i can go click and DL and play and delete when i am tired of it. But i know it will be there a year from now and not an issue to DL and play again.

Exclusives are just bad for the games that limit customers...make these time limited...give the place a year to sell the game then let all the others sell them as well. Would make more sense to me that way...but we will see how this all shakes out in the end.

But for me is is a no buy if no Steam.

Considering the amount of DLC they will release, it's probably smart to wait for a complete game edition anyway.

Steam was the only thing around of it's kind. Now we have come to expect certain features and functions for our launchers, and epic lacks some of the most basic of them. Me personally I don't plan on buying anything from that store because Epic has not shown me I can trust them.

Is it Brand loyalty to own all of a series on one platform.. and then have a single other game on another?  Not so much loyalty as consumer friendliness at that point.

Take for example my digital movie collection.  At one point I had Vudu, I-tunes, Disney Movies, (Edit: ULTRAVIOLET).  Movies Anywhere put almost all under one header.  So now, I have all my movies in one spot.  I STILL get surprised when I go to Prime Video and realize I bought a movie on there because... well it sucks and even after all this time it's formatting is terrible to find stuff.

That's how I feel about the Epic Store.  It is like my Prime Video.  I'll log in... be surprised I own a game... then forget about it again.
