I'm no Steam fanboi but this is getting ridiculous. Honestly I think part of the draw for developers to Epic games is the fact that there is no community, no reviews, no workshop, no game cards, nothing for customers to get the most out their games. They can put in less work and make more money.
For real, this whole thing is sham, none of these fucking developers are passing the savings on to us and they can escape poor reviews based on legitimate complaints such as bugs, broken mechanics, and in general shittyness and still sell their games.

That's not the case though. Like I said I'm already vested. Had it been 7 years ago no biggy. It's kinda like building a house. You know the area you want to live in, but nothing is available at the time you are ready to buy so you settle for what is available. A few years later the area you were looking in has some availability, some lots, but you are already fully invested in the house you already built and not looking to move.
You end up just staying where you are at because it works for you. Then all of sudden a few of the stores you frequent in your area begin close up shop and move 20 miles down the road away from where you currently live to the area you had originally wanted to buy in, Not because there aren't enough shoppers where they are at currently, but because they think they can save money moving to a cheaper rent area.
That pretty much just leaves me to shop at the remaining stores even if they don't carry the exact brand I want, and I hate how they organize stuff, because I'm not driving 20 miles to those other stores just because they think I will. It's really not a big a conspiracy as you think it is. I just find it annoying.

While I get your underlying point, consider: you aren't driving 20 miles to get to Steam or Epic. You're downloading a relatively small program once, and then you're one click away from either one.
With regards to their primary functions (a marketplace from which one purchases games and downloads them digitally), you're not "further" away from the Epic Store than you ever were from Steam.
With that said, if you really enjoy Steam because you have friends and such there, I get that. It just doesn't diminish the fact that Epic has every right to invest in competing with Valve in the storefront market.

Well that seems baseless. The one interaction I had with epic when I had an issue they replied to me within 3 hours and got it fixed uo straight away....
I've had terrible experiences with steam customer support over the years tho including wait times for replies almost a week long.
Everyone's experience is different but it's usually only the angry that post about a customer service experience online.
Tencent own a chunk of Activision Blizzard as well.
Pretty sure that AB games - WoW, CoD, Diablo, HotS etc. etc. - have never been on Steam though so can't blame them for that.

Everything I've read about Tencent shows them to be pretty damn friendly to the companies they do business with.
Generally, they're hands off and merely there to support with capital investment, from what I've read.
Besides that, i've seen they usually invest in game companies for their IP's but is mostly because they want to be the first to bring it to their market (China) and profit from there.
Its fun to read that we now have people that base their purchase of games on which stores its being sold on instead of first deciding whether the game is fun to play or not.
I had to use frigging games for windows live even though the whole thing was awful and you sometimes had to jump through hoops to get the game running because I really wanted to play the game. Uplay could sometimes be a complete mess. I spent hours upon hours to get both fallout 3 and bioshock to work due to bugs. Let's not even talk about the pain when gfwl shut down.
All those games were bought through steam back in the days when steam didn't allow refunds for any reasons whatsoever.
