imageBioWare Team Delays Several Act 1 Calendar Features Including the Cataclysm Event - MMORPG.com

As a result of "prioritizing things like bug fixes, stability and game flow", several of Anthem's Act 1 Calendar Features are being delayed. This includes the Cataclysm event, the Mastery System, Guilds, Legendary Missions - Phase 2, Weekly Stronghold Challenges, Leaderboards, and some Freeplay Events. "We set aside time for this work, but the reality is there are more things to fix and improve than we planned for." Ben Irving & Chad Robertson wrote.

Just shut down the game for a year, then release it next year.

This is frankly pathetic. Launch a game with even less content than the original launch of Destiny 1, provide a sparse but barely acceptable 90 day roadmap, and then delay most of that pittance.

I thought that the pair wrote very frankly about their failings. While that doesn't indicate that they'll improve, it is a good sign that they know what they're doing wrong. Give credit where credit is due.

Honestly, Anthem isn't the game for me and I am a longtime BW fan. If EA gives them enough time to fix things, they might pull a No Man's Sky.

Gamers need to learn more patience. :D

Among those whiny threads about Anthem I've read how it's just a modified gameplay of Mass Effect Andromeda - which I've skipped after similar tsunami of whining. So I've purchased MEA and it turned out its multiplayer is full of players and is really, really fun (especially for $10 for Deluxe version with a decent gun included). Yet EA has closed the game's development.

People really should stop crying about Anthem or we'll lose yet another great game which just need few more patches/months to become a real masterpiece.

We'll get all of that content in seven years from now where they'll start working on it in the last six months.

It makes for good PR claiming to be more focused on bug fixes, except one problem,an entire team does not work on bug fixes, more likely lucky if more than 2-3 are on bug fixing. So after releasing the game,my assumption is they moved several employees onto another venture and have a very small team now on the game.Anthem to me has never looked like a big team game anyhow,my guess around 30-50 but actual work looks like 15.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

My bad guys. This is all my fault. I should have managed my expectations better and stopped being a mindless drone who can't form it's own opinions and observations.

    I'll do better next release.

You know.....I just feel bad for everyone involved at this point.

I feel bad for the people trying to hype this game so much so to the point that they themselves, the freaking developers, were learning as much about the game they were making, as the audience they were marketing it to.

I also feel bad for the people that genuinely got suckered into all of that hype surrounding this. Hell, this was even seen as a redemption project to some in regards to EA due to the whole BF2 incident (even though I'm not really sure how given the state BF5 was in yet, everyone seemed to act like that game didn't exist, including EA).

I hope the people burned by this entire thing can learn at least one thing. If something is being aggressively pushed on you, maybe there should be reason for concern. Even Apex Legends, the hit from out of no where, is dying out.

People saying to give them time and be patient..

You all realize they charged us 60$ right? If this was a 20$ early access game then it would've been ok but charging people for a product like this is crooked as ever, along with that false roadmap which got a lot of people to most likely buy this product which again was false as ever.

3+ months in and we have vanity chest (with a bunch of skins) and 1 new dungeon...it's pathetic.

That's why I didn't pre-purchase it mostly because it's not really my kind of game and not what I wanted from BioWare. But it turns out I was wise not to. I may get it one day a year or two from now if it lasts that long, but I'm glad I've turned the corner on preorders and Day 1 purchases. I'd rather wait and see.

They ALWAYS know what they're doing wrong. Them admitting they screwed up means nothing if they can't fix it.

For those of you who used a credit card to make purchases. You can in fact contact your financial institution and dispute the charges as "No Service Rendered." They didn't deliver the product and services as intended. It doesn't matter if you agreed to their terms or not. Yes, you will lose your account, possible even be banned as well.

Sorry for any of who paid cash, debit, or gift card, you will have no such luck.

I doubt this works when they did deliver a working game (yes it has bugs and issues but as a whole they delivered a working game). This would only work if the game itself was unplayable. The term you use "No Service Rendered," makes it sound as if the game for the majority not the few is unplayable and therefore not a finished product.

Everyone can debate what is a finished product we all have our own determinations for that but the game does work for the majority and has a complete story (not saying it is the best story but it is complete). Good luck with your refund from your financial institution a whole two months after purchase for those trying this method.

This isn't my first rodeo! It only works with credit cards, It's why I only make purchases with a credit card and nothing else.

This isn't a sport, this is my security.

No Service Rendered goes beyond just the bugs and issues.

We are talking how they can't deliver the product and services that they marketed for, that's a complete and total rip off to any consumer. This announcement alone is just the nail in the coffin confirming that.

Wow this game is really unfinished. MEA had a lot of complaints but i enjoyed it for the most part some of the mele combos you could do were awesome. the problem I have is bioware is making games I do not want to play I dont need and never asked for multiplayer in my rpgs if I want that I will go play lotro. I want a good story interesting characters and an open seamless world where i can just walk of in the distance and explore. I think where they messed up or changed is they started chasing the dollar to hard lets make a game where we can sell packs in multiplayer or you make a game like the witcher or Skyrim and start printing the cash if you make a good game that people are asking for you will mkae money EA needs to learn this in a hurry their attempt to monitize everything is going to kill them in the long run even whales run out of cash eventually.

the shocking thing is that the devs didn't predict the colossal bad feedback

they are really out of touch if they couldn't tell this blowback was coming prior to release

Such bad negligence from the top whom won't be hurt by this much. Instead the company will take it out on the normal workers. Pathetic ethics.

No disrespect, but this is not Square Enix we are talking about!

This is EA and patience and longterm investment isn’t in their DNA. Never has and never will.

Just look how quickly they dropped the dumpsterfire that was Mass Effect: Andromeda. The devs were allowed to fix it for a set amount of time and after that EA pulled the plug and canceled all planned DLC.

They will do the same with Anthem.

I would be carefull calling the devs here. Watch "Playing Hard" a documenttary about For Honor and how it was made. Decisions on this level are hardly made by the developers. But i agree that it will be very hard for them to get the people back, even when they fix everything and bring the content in the next 3-6 month, this is a, kinda burned brand now. I luckily bought just the monthly pass for 13 bucks. The start of the game should show EA that a game like Anthem works. Afaik the first game where they tried the machine learning loot engine, should give EA a lot of data to call it a success ;)

I bought the game for 20$ and its not as bad as I felt it would be when I read peoples comments. Not great either.

Anyway I barely have time to play 30-45 minutes so Im enjoying the begining of the ride. I feel that the game could have lots of potential to it but I also feel that they wont be able (nor will people/EA let them) to make it shine.

I just hope it stays alive 6 months more so I can put 10-15 hours into it (2$ and hour of mild entertainment isnt so bad these days).
