Correct... But the article still talks about what games they will have access to...

Having access to a billion $ IP - Billions of dollars.. Having access to a massive fan base of said IP - Even more Billons... Singly handedly alienating them due to stupidity - Priceless.
Same reply as my other moving message, people need to read the press release and not interperti it to whatever they want before making post like this, It says Launchpad. Launchpad is ONLY a gateway to our different games, this does not mean ANY current launchpad using game is going to the PS3. SWG is not, as has been stated endlessly before.

Anyone else see a duck in there? It just says SWG is not going to PS3... It never answers the question on whether PS3 users will be allowed to access the game from this new service..

And as usual, SOE is both a day late and a dollar short in stopping the rumor train.
Choo chooooo!
It'd be interesting to see it happen ex-post-GarVa though. It would confirm that in SOE, the left side of the brain does not communicate with the right.

No they just said that on the PS3, it will have technology allowing you to access computer games, INCLUDING STAR WARS GALAXIES.

Didn't he lie about all the changes coming on the CU as well, since many of them were out of nowhere? (Some of it we knew about, many changes came completely outta left field.)

Okay, I understand how SWG actually looks like it could transfer to PS3 since the game has been extremelly simplified and could be played with 3 buttons almost, but how on earth would they make a game as complex as say... EQ2 playable with a controller?
I know there's 15 button controllers planned or what not, but seriously, when it gets to that level, might as well just go keyboard all the way.
/rant I also wish the console industry stopped claiming/stealing games selfishly for their medium only. I am so tired of seeying "console-only" games. wtf, how selfish can u be?? I would never want any game to be pc-only if it could be effectively played on a console. But by that I do not think a game should be modified from it's PC playable version only so it can fit the console cookie-cutter format. /burn consoles /endrant

Different demographics.
Console games fall into two categories. Overwhealming graphics (much simpler, due to lower resolution) or simplistic gameplay (in a tetris/street fighter way simple).
PC games have a longer history, and due to more flexibilty offen allow for greater depth and complexity.
For this same reason, most console games ported to PC would be laughed off. There are exceptions (GTA and similar), but generally they are not viable.
In addition, the gameplay is more and more frequently structured around console only controllers, resulting in highly annoying gameplay on a PC. Some require proprietary controllers all together (Guitar hero). But most importantly, the gameplay style is different. Where consoles are focused around instant playability and small chunks of satisfying gameplay (5-15 minutes), PC games generally require more start up preparation, and require longer sessions.
PC games are hard-core, console games can be played for fun only, and cut many corners to achieve that.
Some genres can pass between both seamlesly (UT), but most can't. Finally the console development also offers little room for inovation. The hardware implies what can be done and how it should be done. Since the expected life span of a console is short (1-2 years), the development process must be as simple as possible, and as efficient as possible, using only proven and tested concepts, that can be quickly adapted to limitations, and improved using proprietary hardware.
It's two completely different worlds. With one major distinction: PC games are in decline. Console games are on the rise. And smart publisher needs to invest into consoles, since with the next generation and addition of internet, they are opening a huge market.
I must say I re-read this article a few times, and now I can see why this is so ambiguous. The journalist talks about this new service the launcher that will be available for the pc games, but now the way I read the article, It sounds like this is an example of what Sony will be offering console gamers. A service where they can access a few games and play with their buddies, etc. Not a service where they will be accessing the PC games. Its really messed up wording
Even so Sony could of at least came out with something clarifying it.. Instead of Garva barging in ranting about how people cant read and locking the thread... And yeah after re reading it it is ambigous.. It does however lend to the theory of what might be coming to a PS3 near you... They quoted the SOE exec stating the PC is not the end... or something close to that.. Either way its not stopping at PC...
And why wouldnt it be possible for a system to be put into place to allow PS3 to log in.. access a computer to be allowed to play the game...

The article and $OE are both right. The article writer is reporting station pass games according to current info. $OE is correct in their denial because they know SWG isn't going to PS3 because it won't be around to go to PS3, which the article's writer wouldn't know. Shut down? Placed in someone else's hands? Who knows.

Look at wording. Not coming to Launchpad.
The service in the article is "Launcher Station".
