Even old school football was better.

I very much enjoy American college football. But I can't say football as a sport has gotten better or worse over the years. My team, on the other hand, sadly is much worse.
Same here. And now people are trying to make collegiate football a business (pay collegiate athletes), just like the NFL which has spoiled it.
Collegiate football has been a business for decades.
The players generate millions for the universities. They should be paid, period.

Yea... 50,000 to 100,000 (aka scholarships = free higher education) a semester is a mere pittance.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

You should do us all a favor, and play some full contact football without a helmet, or perhaps you already have, hence this horrendous attempt at provoking people on an internet forum.

As for classic MMO's, I do miss the days when I could sit at my computer for 12 hours a day with a group of 30 people and raid until I passed out at my keyboard, but becoming an adult has left me with almost no time to enjoy such things.

That does not mean games should not be challenging, finding that perfect balance of challenge and reward has been something I have sought for over a decade.
My hope is that VR will kick off a renaissance in the MMORPG genre, and pull me back in to a world I can get lost in for hours, days on end.
Ironically your one of the few that agree with ALL my views about mmoprgs.

Hint:  If you want to say something bad, don't say one thing in the opening paragraph then agree in the rest.
