    Oh, is it 2028 already?
there's is another title with a similar name I guess ?
Nah I was just making a joke about the probable release date of this game.
Afraid I don't get the joke. We have a Q4 2021 launch window.

Or are you referring to one of the many other indie MMORPGs in development who haven't yet set any type of launch window of any kind because they prefer to run endless begathons while seeking mythical levels of perfection for a launch product?

Probably has been mentioned somewhere in an overly long video  :p but does the Q4 2021 "launch" include a final server wipe?

Will you also begin accepting subs at the same time?

Those are my two main criteria to consider an online game as truly launched.

Yes and yes. Zero headstart bullshit and subs kick in on day one.

Finally, good grouping, no crazy vfx, no cartoon anime gfx, immersion, deliberate, tactical group play, decision making. Well done!!!! This might be a way back into mmorpgs for me after 5+years of sitting on the sidelines!!! :))) please get it done :))) We need an alternative to the action based, zerg, solo rpgs where you game the cash shop.

It's one of several games from which we drew inspiration :) Morrowind, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard are a few others (along with, of course, 2nd edition AD&D).

Yeah, I'm not picking up on you having much of a sense of humor about yourself or your game.

Anyway, I don't trust your projected release date any more than any of the other indie MMO developers who have been way off so far.  And that's all of them.  Up to you to prove me wrong.
Yeah, I tend to have zero chill when dealing with trolls who leave snarky comments that have no basis in fact, especially when they haven't ever actually spent any time with myself or our community.

We've already proved most folks wrong. Remember back when it was 2015 and everyone said what we were doing was "impossible" and we wouldn't make it pass 2016?

    Made it.

Remember back when it was 2016, 2017, and 2018, and folks said we were just robbing people with our pre-order store and were going to use the money to fund lavish lifestyles? Turns out, none of us drew paychecks and we were using it to hire contractors to work on game content instead. Funny, that.

Remember when folks said that because we didn't have PVP we would automatically fail? Odd thing about that is the pre-orders kept coming in, and the investors kept coming on board, despite that fact.

Remember when folks said that because we were going with a subscription-based, buy-to-play model that we would automatically fail? Turns out, there's a pretty large demographic of players who prefer sub-based games, but their pre-orders don't mean squat; it's F2P or nothing in this world.

We're all about that failure, yo. Milestone after milestone, nailed and completed, but yeah, we're all about that failure.

It's a bit out of date (need to update it for this year) but here ya go: https://sagaoflucimia.com/five-reasons-not-to-pre-order-the-saga-of-lucimia/

What's up with the addiction to action-based 2010 style  MMO combat with it's jumping around, ducking, tumbling, dodging, and spamming 15-20 abilities in a row in a spastic display of twitchy chaos?

Folks have different likes. We prefer the slower, old style of combat where you don't have to mash buttons and jump/duck/tumble, but rather strategize and play methodically.

As far as animations go. I'm not even. It's like you didn't even bother to read the previous replies or listen to what was mentioned in the video 3x regarding animations in an alpha product.

IMO - I only buy after it's 100% baked and launched - also first hand gameplay is a must.

If there is no way to try before buy = no buy for me.

As far as failure - it's always a possibility, but I admire your confidence and persistence.

You don't get to take a free flight from New York to Los Angeles to decide whether or not you're going to use an airline. Dentists don't offer a free trial cavity filling before you decide whether or not that dentist is going to be worthwhile. Mechanics don't offer free oil changes before you decide whether or not you're going to use them to change the oil in your car. These companies run services, and they are compensated for their services accordingly.

There will be plenty of ways for players to get a look at our game via the media, streamers, bloggers, and other content creators, as well as media at our own site and across our social media channels. We will offer some hands-on fun at conferences and tradeshows, and we may give away some weekend passes to media outlets during our beta phase.

But we have zero plans to offer any sort of online trial, for the same reasons that a dentist or an airline or a mechanic doesn't offer trial versions of their services.

Should we offer any type of trial, it would come in the form of an offline version where you can run around and create a character and play through some static quests but you would not have access to the game servers or any sort of online functionality.

In essence, a few-hour single player character creation zone where you can make a character and run around and level up some masteries but have zero access to the online part of the game. And likely that character would not be ported to the live game should you then choose to buy + sub. Literally a throwaway toon from a throwaway trial.

Another simple reason for this is because we can immediately keep gold spammers from logging into the game and bothering people via some sort of a free trial. If gold spammers want to throw 50-60 dollars at us for a digital copy while we hit them with the ban hammer every time they pop their heads up, we're more than happy to do it that way because it's money in our pockets, even after we pay the support staff.

Beyond that, you have already openly stated on more than one occasion that you will not be buying or playing or supporting our game anyway, in more than one thread. So I have to wonder once again what your agenda is when you have made it so painfully obvious in the past that you don't care one way or another about our particular title?

First off, the way you are conducting yourself as a business owner trying to sell people on a product is appalling. I run a small business that on occasion gets a few bad Google and Yelp reviews, we never ever attack people that leave criticism. We either ignore them if they are just trolls, or we try to respond in a diplomatic and positive way that tries to turn a negative situation into a positive one.

Remember, there a lot of lurkers here viewing your responses and the way you handle criticism here will most likely be reflected in your companies culture, being this is your project. People talk mate and a few people can do a lot of damage to your brand. This is especially important to you, because your game is going to have a very niche and small community.

My main beef with you wasn't your game per say too, its your snarky and over confident attitude. I've followed your comments here and on Massively for years and your responses to critics and trolls makes we worried about your temperament.

You guys need to hire a real community manager that has experience in marketing and actually handling game communities. They should be the face of your company!

Honestly, if you want people to take an interest in your company and game, just stop posting here or weigh your words more carefully.

We already have an amazing community manager, ElloaWendy. But you'll never see me hiding behind her skirts while out here dealing with the trolls of the internet.

Best part about your so-called advice? I've lost count of how many folks have specifically bought our game *because* of the way I deal with trolls.

Critics are not the same as trolls. Considering none of the so-called critics are actual paying customers, their critiques are invalid.

You can't leave a review on a hamburger until you've actually sat down and eaten at the restaurant. You don't get to look in the window and claim you know what the burger tastes like when you haven't even eaten there yet.

I'll continue to deal with trolls the same way I've been dealing with them for six years.

Successfully. Ya'll push so much traffic our way by continually needing to be "right" about our game, and I keep replying because ya'll drive sales our way. I've always said the moment that stops being true, I won't bother replying because I certainly wouldn't do it for free ;)

Critics have yet to actually critique anything, as we don't have a live product to review yet :)

One of the advantages of being an indie company is that you can do things your own way. There are probably just as many people who agree with his responses as those, like yourself who don't. It goes both ways.

Some people are just too sensitive. Just be you. If some don't like it?
Carry on and drive on hero.

I think we have a blog post from back around 2015 that is something along the lines of "our world, our way". I need to update that and get it back in circulation.

Best part about the above advice: if you don't like something, move on.

Carry on and drive on, hero. Signature line if I've ever seen one.

While it certainly has the EQ1 vibe in terms of pace and group play - it's important to note that it's not class based and level based like EQ1 was (meaning where your character level unlocked class specific skills)

We are EverQuest-inspired when it comes to the "feel" of the gameplay and the way we are designing our zones/dungeons. That's about as far as it goes.

There's Morrowind in there, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard, AD&D, and a few others for good mix.

It's not my cup of tea - but there is always a chance that the game is good enough and I end up playing post launch.

So I will not support you before launch - this is 100% set in stone.

Post launch - there is still a possibility - if the game is good enough, if my guild is interested etc.. etc..

Lots of variables that are unknown - so I cannot say with 100% certainty that I will never play your game.

I can say with 100% certainty that I won't give you money before launch.

I love this type of comment. I immedietely point folks like you to the first pre-alpha login video from 2015 as a comparison point, and then chuckle as they try to claim that they don't see much difference  :)
