I've spent a redic amount of money on this game, but even I've come to realize that the game is completely mismanaged at the top. Microsoft didn't fire Chris on a whim. He promises more than he can deliver. And the game has gone so far out of scope that it will never be complete. But fools like me have no other game that promises what he promised so we spend more. For every new cynic like me they a dozen sycophants/new backers that don't have a clue. So it will continue ad inf. Because a fool and his money are soon departed. Learned that one the hard way.
People are optimists and want to believe that people will deliver what they say. I am a realist and that means I know people want to deliver but greed of their own prevents them.
If there was independent oversight, maybe the game would actually come out but as it is I don't see it actually being ever released.

Except there is no need to spend redic amount of money... 45$ and even less during anniversary is enough to jump in and be part of the journey.
3.9 and new Bagage is absolutely stunning. Yes it is missing NPC's with higher number making the all city more alive but this is precisely what this Quantum article is explaining... and oh surprise, 4.0 and 4.01 do add client server improvment and NPC's spawning tech....
Meanwhile, the next publishers games are mostly remaster of past sequel... between spending 40$ on COD remastered, the choice is super fast.
One of my sons (both in "grade" school at the time) tried to explain to my wife and i at the time (very happily divorced) how lucky we are that after days of thinking about it, he will be fine with the $15000 package and how lucky we are that he decided against getting the $25000.
Thanks man!!!!
Short story short, after explaining to him he's getting a whopping $0 to give to some has-been milking his name not a f'ing cent, he said that he can't play the game then, i asked him what game, anyway now he and i have such a good laugh over that one.
Here is a little reality soup He's almost graduated college wtf? That's how f'ing long this game has been in development.

This was the whole Economy Quantum Tool Panel where they show the simulation in-depth:
It's an amazing tool to see integrated on the game, MMOs need this sort of dynamic simulation where what players do actually causes some impact on the game-world, something MMOs like Guild Wars 2 tried to do with an on-loop script of events/etc to make the world feel alive.

If the motive is "simply greed" then the game(s) will launch.
CR etc. are not getting "rich" from this - will have made far more doing films etc. If SQ42 sells a fraction of what e.g. Destiny - that widely panned game - sold then you are looking at many millions. If it sells close to what Destiny did you are over a billion.
And you could see TV maybe film stuff and maybe the odd cent from SC.
And if they then sell shares in the company ...
Have to assume that the folks behind the external investment was made with the expectation of getting rich as well.
Project managers, not developers, need to be running projects, they dont need to code, or create, they need to keep the project progressing and not having it stuck in an eternal game of "feature creep".

Most notable Erin Roberts, brother of Chris Roberts
(Studio Manager and Studio Director for many successful games, especially in the LEGO franchise ... work that had nothing to do with the previous work that the Roberts brothers did).

Maybe neither the Star Citizen project managers nor the crowdfunding backers are the "Jingle keys" here ;-)
Have fun
LMAO,
NEITHER of them are project managers, perhaps look the term and job description up.
Also thats a real guiding light of a "project manager" right there, being the brother of the dude who alluded to releasing the game years ago and yet it is still in development hell seemingly never to emerge. Its nothing but feature creep, every "update" is heres something new and shiny as opposed to "hey look we are finishing what was promised 9 years ago and all the other cool stuff will be expansion A, B, C and D" but thats not happening.
Erin Roberts better hope his brother always has money from suckers to pay him with because he will never get another job as a project manager as he has managed nothing but the hopes of people with too much money.
I sincerely hope Im very, very wrong and a release is imminent and you get to point and laugh about how wrong I was but Im doubting it, just more and more jingle keys stretching off into the future for years to come.

Erin does not need some anon "expertise" to get a job. He had a successful business one before you lol...
The reasons you bring on table are laughable, good in an uneducated individual about game developement and finance but not much less.

Both worked for Chris Roberts at Digital Anvil. And how many games did they get out in their years there???
One. Of course, that was actually done by Bullfrog Games, though Erin was the majordomo between companies.
You all would be better off giving tons of money to Chris to keep him away from the game development. Maybe you all should buy him a yacht. Or even a space yacht!!
Of course, he'd probably try to sell you a copy of it for $1000.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

I have three different certificates as project manager - i am quite familiar with the term and job description, thank you very much ;-)
That "brother of the dude" has been shooting out a dozen games WITHOUT his brother while you were not looking.
Let me take a look at the tasks of a studio manager
"As a Studio Manager, you will guarantee the development of high
quality video games in line with the Direction’s roadmap and the
players’ expectations. You will define and implement a sustainable development strategy and ensure the team’s performance and studio profitability.
You
will lead the site opening project in collaboration with XXXXX
partners, presenting a project plan defining all needs for the studio
set-up (staff, investments, communication strategy, administrative and
logistics…).
You will develop and manage the
business plans required to grow the studio, ensuring the profitability
of your studio’s mandates and projects.
You will define the most effective organization, managing both production and Q&A teams.
Collaborating
efficiently with editorial teams and partner studios, you will define
for your team’s the objectives of quality to reach for all mandates and
games developed by your studio.
You will
implement best practice methodologies, production processes and
efficient tools to promote and foster a gamer-centric culture, an
innovation mindset and effective collaboration with other studios
associated on the projects.
You will recruit
the best skills around you and foster a culture that promotes the
constant development of expertise across the studio."
So ... he is even MORE than a project manager. Project Management is just ONE of his many tasks.
I've spent a redic amount of money on this game, but even I've come to realize that the game is completely mismanaged at the top. Microsoft didn't fire Chris on a whim. I mostly agree with what you're saying but fools and their money don't depart soon, That's the problem: they stick around being parted from their money and they don't depart
