Yeah...agree with DMKano...although I would even say this is NOT RNG....but pre-determined numbers to make you purchase more and more. Absolutely the WORST, and most BLATANT money grab in ALL video games at this time......STAY AWAY FROM THIS.
How about reducing the ridiculous RNG in pretty much every aspect of the game, and reducing the P2W that game has turned into over time?
Maybe addressing that PvE combat not being a complete faceroll?
How about adding ways to earn 100% cash shop items in game via gameplay?
Or maybe that game requires 24/7 afk gameplay to keep up?
oh wait... they don't want to talk about real issues in the game... forgot that this is just a lip service interview
remove p2w elements? lol you should know by now, if you want to have a playeable game do so when they launch said game, the more time it goes more p2w elements are shoved, tanding to get worse with less players playing it

I said reduce not remove.
BDO has been progressively getting more and more P2W, removing it is unreasonable.
Reducing is possible
remove, reducing, having less is all the same for then, you as one who love to spill its on the line with devs should know it by now
What's P2W on it? Is there a tournament where money is involved? Otherwise, I'm not sure what that would be.
I have enjoyed the game, and only paid the initial think 6.00 -10 or whatever Steam charged.
Taking my time enjoying the content they have, and I haven't felt the need to buy from the pearl store except for a costume that looks neat (which i haven't yet, but it's there).
I'm not seeing anything that would require me to, unless it's having to face someone for a spot but that hasn't happened yet and skill can over come things, even bought with money.
Gear has been provided via events or the ability to upgrade from daily log-ins and what you don't get from farming. Some stuff is face roll, but not all if you aren't there yet.
Guess maybe i'll face this stuff, till then I'm having fun and not finding the time to do everything.

Not every interview has to be an interrogation.
Do we need to ask you "where on the doll did black desert touch you" or will you be ok?!?!?!
Please it doesnt have to be an interrogation, an interviewer can ask questions in a way to where it doeasnt come off as such.
Also this is a fluff interview - more of a marketing piece than anything.
if given a chance to talk to the a game dev for any game - would you rather ask them questions about current top issues and concerns or do fluff questions meaningless interview that totally ignores all the main concerns?
It depends what the interview was supposed to be.
Did MMORPG.com reach out and say we would like to interview x, y and z and discuss these topics or did a rep from Pearl Abyss reach out and say we are releasing "x" and if you are interested we would be available for an interview?
Maybe MMORPG.com will do a more "hard hitting" article since some people have significant issues with the game.
Reach out and ask them.
But just because there is an opportunity for an interview doesn't mean that MMORPG.com (or anyone else) is obliged to give them the 3rd degree.

No no no no, you don't understand. You're supposed to trap them and corner them by surprising them with completely off-topic and inflammatory questions! That way you never get another interview ever again. that's how you are supposed to interview.....gosh.

I mean, I don't disagree with your analysis...but why would they ever change anything when they're making boatloads of money doing what they are today? They're a business at the end of the day.
PC and console cross play would be awesome. What I would have liked to see asked was info on the new games Crimson Desert, Plan 8 and DokeV. Talking about the games pve , p2w and cash shop are outdated personal problems. Aint nobody got time for that. LOL

How long have you played the game?
What is your GS - are you at softcap yet?
How much end game content have you completed?
To understand P2W in BDO you have to understand the endgame meta
But, how does the P2W for this game affected you personally? I understand the P2W for phone games, but not for MMO on a computer exactly.
What does is it in the P2W for this game that is detrimental to the game and to your experience at the end game? Besides saving you time, what does it do otherwise that affects the game?
The xp buff gets you to the end faster and some skill points faster. The money I can make from doing quest or just farming, so buying stuff on the market is no problem.
I'm just looking at what your experience with what you think P2W is in this game that breaks the game? As P2W for me is one person is stronger then anyone else by throwing out more money, when I see P2W on BDO is a matter of convenience.
Well, if one wants to pay to "win" in BDO, it is quite expensive. Especially if by "winning" one understand being max gear. We are talking here in tens of thousands. The P2W aspect is really not for everybody and hence not so widespread.
The content is not faceroll. It is gear dependent. This is also the case for many MMORPGs. Some people even define RPGs using this concept (which is wrong IMHO).
It doesn't remove the fact that the cash shop is very aggressive. But the base price is very low. Once you know how to make silver, the cash shop is only for gated/convenience content like - sadly - "swimming".
If one plays long enough and take advantage of all the very generous events, not so much has to be spent. Now you can get pets through questing, TRI gear through event, and even outfit through crazy grinding.
Like BDO veterans say: this game is not a race, this is a marathon. All important goals require months.
If I knew what I know now when I started this game, I would have spent less than $80. People playing WOW spent hundreds in subs and did not complain about it. Probably because it is the feeling to know exactly what you pay for vs buying some unlocks and/or faster ways to achieve goals. But at the end of the day, a feeling is just a feeling, and an empty wallet just looks like another empty one.
On the bright side, it will keep the lights up for a long time, and some people actually do enjoy the RNG.
Moreover, it is maybe the most successful fantasy sandbox MMORPG of this scale.
For you people who think DMKano is being "negative or bashing" the game (BTW....I AM). Try to get some gear to PEN....then tell me what you think of the game!! My main gripe with the game is the number percentages they project, IMO are TREMENDOUSLY DISTORTED, in regards to upgrade chances, which basically forces you to the cash shop. If you are going to make everything RNG, then REALLY make it RNG, and NOT pre determined in KAKAOs favor!
What's P2W on it? Is there a tournament where money is involved? Otherwise, I'm not sure what that would be.

This whole thread and DMKano-bashing just shows impressively how and why the devs not only get away but are even successful with a piece of trash like BDO. P2W nowadays has not only become accepted but also even appreciated by an alarmingly high amount of players. As if the state of MMORPGs wasn't already sad enough. Anyway please keep on defending with the usual 'but you don't have to buy', 'nobody is forcing you' arguments and spend money for being able to swim in a game (seriously WTF?)

How about focusing on the topic at hand, as the interview did.

I really do hope that this is a lie. Nevertheless it's common knowledge that the BDO shop is absolutely ridiculous.
