With the sports leagues shut down, it's not like there's anything good on cable, anyway.

Which.. I have got to admit, the new Keep on the Borderlands zones, do offer some fun challenge.
Kinda wish they offered more EXP tho, still barely made it past 2nd, even with doing all the quests on elite and with as VoM equipped, and some other boost and boons like BB, and Permanent exp elixir.

I used to play DDO with a controller, not a mouse and keyboard. (I currently play it with a tartarus and naga)
"t" Toggles the action Look, and I mainly use that.
I never "click" anything, I always set up my number buttons for the hot bar.
This was how I set it up.
D-Pad U&D - to scroll through the Hotbars, Up and Down. D-Pad - L&R - Tab Target
Then I use up the controller Buttons to trigger the actions.
R-trigger = Attack L-Trigger = Jump. The 4 Buttons would be numbers 1 - 4 on the hot bar (Which would be my main combat buttons, like Cleave, or drinking a haste pot, etc) 2 buttons in the Middle are 5 & 6 L-Top Button (Above L-Trigger) = Block R - Top Button (Above R-trigger) = Hypershift (Changes the Button Functions) HS(Hyper Shift) 4 Buttons now do 6-10 HS D-pad - Party Members F2 > F5 HS L-Trigger = ESC
This gives me all 10 Hotbar Buttons as a fast button Press, I never have to click anything.

Controllers are horrible I cannot navigate i.e. move with the thumbsticks they are awful. I use them only for turn based games on the Playstation. I lurch around like a drunk he won't touch a controller.
I know this isn't a "suggest a game" post Chey, but FF14, if you can get his machine to run it, is slowed down just enough that someone who clicks the hotbar would probably be able to perform ok. It's also a stellar game with less of a learning curve (it's got one but the game leads you through at quite a steady pace).
Some people complain it's a little too slow paced (it's faster and more accessible than it's predecessor ff11). I love it.

Well, DDO can be complicated to a new player. I agree with the statement above about using a controller, I mapped and X-Box one controller, and it made the experience so much better. I even have instructions on our Guild about how to map the controller, along with how to create a custom keymap for every toon, and how to start your toon with custom keymap on the server to which it belongs, all by clicking a single icon with your toons face on it.
Maybe one of the best ways to really get into the game I have found, is to group up with a bunch of nice players, who are really understanding to the new guy. It's nice to have a full group to pull weight in quests, plus there is so much knowledge passed between the players...it's the fastest way to learn DDO.
If you and your husband want to join a really family friendly group, we are the Silver Legion Guild on Cannith server. We have over 1800 members, and are all about the new guy and new players to DDO. We also have a bunch of other MMORPG realms, and even PNP. We have regular static groups, run nearly daily raids, and are like family...but a big one. If you're interested in meeting a whole group of new friends, and maybe getting help mapping an X=Box one controller for your husband, look us up at guildmedieval.net

THe key to your significant other is always finding what they like.....Just like you wouldn't like it if he bought you a bowling ball (unless you did like bowling)....Often people try to please others with things they themselves like, but their spouse has no interest in. Keep trying to see what he really enjoys then find the format that fits his playstyle best. There's tons of games out there and we are more helpful as we get more info.
He didn't want to play it the way it looked on his computer and we have not yet bought a new computer so he ended up playing some mobile game on his phone.
