All features they want to put into a game. Don’t like them? Make your own game. “But but but”, but nothing. Their game, their choice.
Wow master of the obvious. Didn't see anyone here claim it was their game or that it wasn't the devs choice. Glad you pointed that out thou, possibly nobody would have figured that out if not for your genius.
People usually make comments like this when they cant refute what you have to say. So they try to silence your opinion with retarded comments like this.
Hey genius, ever thought whats the point of these forums? Its to comment on games like this hmmmm, what an idea, if only you would have come up with that idea first, you might actually have 2 nickles to your name. Maybe if you keep putting out these gems of ideas someone will donate 2 nickles you can rub together, you can always dream.
These features have been part of the game for years and you just NOW decided to bitch about them? You've created more threads about Pantheon than their marketing team. Even if you hate the game now, at least you're helping promote it with the constant threads.
Didn't they just announce Climate? I haven't heard of that until recently.
Then when you think about they haven't added anything new for years since climbing and perception other than to announce they are going to only 8 combat skills and focusing on climate.
Huh, after reading through this the concern shouldn't be they are only working on "easy" stuff, it appears to be almost overkill in terms of complexity for a low budget title.
It did mention a detriment called "Glacial Pace" which I naturally assumed at first must refer to the game's development time but turns out it was a character effect.

Haha, good pun!
For the complexity, dunno, to me it sounds just like a collection of state changes, debuffs and immersion sugarcoating, countered by items (glyphs) and "skills" (natural acclimation) - not really that complex.
The challenge comes from whether they can make those systems interesting enough so that they are not just an annoyance to the players (just another box to tick). If they play into the economy, or player interdependence as others have said, then they could earn their keep.
Wind shear sounds a bit more complicated and interesting, from what I saw in Achesoma's vids.
I still feel they are overly complex, not to be confused with adding depth which is what I feel is more what your speaking to.
Not so short summary of Glacial envs.
Five levels of potency requiring increasing player acclimation to survive.
Core detriment with three (atm) sporadic detriments which have to be mitigated through avoidance by acclimation or presumably removed by potions, heals or wards, however only acclimation was discussed in detail.
So in combination with items, buffs, racials, there's an exposure mechanic players can gain by spending more time in an extreme climate, but the main acclimation mechanic is the Glyph system.
”Glyphs will be rare and difficult to attain. They can be found off of powerful enemies in the world or created by max-tier Crafters through recipes requiring rare and valuable components."
and
"Glyphs will be identified by 3 parameters: (1) The climate type they correspond to, (2) the Glyph quality, which determines how much it will increase your Acclimation score towards that climate, and (3) the part of the body it can be applied to.
"There are 6 parts of the body that Glyphs may be applied to: Head, Chest, Arms, Legs, Feet, and Blood.”
Blood? Five major body areas weren't enough, they had to throw in a sixth?
There is an unspecified number of levels of Glyph quality of increasing effect but they compare like this..
"Weak Frigid Glyph: Chest (increases Frigid Acclimation score by 10pts
Prime Frigid Glyph: Chest (increases Frigid Acclimation score by 40pts"
And it all tallies up (break out your spreadsheets) like this.
”Glyphs will contribute differently to that score depending on the quality of the Glyph and which part of the body they are applied to:
a) Head - Up to 30pts.
b) Chest - Up to 40pts.
c) Arms - Up to 20pts.
d) Legs - Up to 30pts.
e) Feet - Up to 20pts.
f) Blood - Up to 60pts."
So that's it right....oh no, not so fast bucko, some environments with have combined detriments, say level 3 glacial, plus level 2 toxic was one example but hey, let's add level 4 windsheer and level 5 inferno and call the zone "The Infinite Hell".
All of the above has to be coded to work together in a holistic manner, and be done for six different extreme environments.
Start adding in combination environments and the complexity increases, but will this all really be fun gameplay.
Sounds like an overly convoluted survival game mechanic more than one which adds any real depth but until we actually see it in action who knows.
Speaking of which, the article mentions they planned to demo Windsheer with project "Falafel" (or whatever it's called) which we still haven't seen much of.

No, they did not just announce climate. It was at least last year. And I thnk I remember another video even father back. Can't find it but it's a developer video.

This game is going nowhere fast.
Pretty much ALL crowdfunded games are going nowhere fast, even Star Citizen with its $300+ million and 500 employees. The problem with game developers was the time crunch and forced overtime every week when working for a AAA company. So all those AAA games that came out in 3-5 years were only able to do that because of the amount of work being done each week. The problem with AAA companies now is they are making shit games. So indie developers decided to give crowdfunding a chance. Players could help create games that they want to support financially, but at a much slower pace. I know, it really is rocket science.
I think the greedy large publishers should look at crowdfunding as free money, let the indie's and backers do 50% to 80% of the funding and work. Swoop in and buy the project for peanuts...take over the project professionally and release a polished game. Already with a few million backers as a guaranteed launch player base.

Great, one down, (maybe) five more to go.
Delivery in 2028 maybe?
Glacial Pace indeed.

Cut throat business.
I hope the glyph's dont totally nullify these mechanics and force players to adapt and change their strategies.
It would even be better if the bosses and mobs stacked these mechanics so players had to change things up to defeat them.
