So what does that make me? Just wondering if I get a cool stereotype nickname like carebear or ganker? Maybe I'm a Canker? ::::19::

That makes you a Teletubby. Which is just as bad as being a trammy/trammelite/carebear or a blacksmith/tailorer/tamer....yes a tamer! those awfully trammies who follow you around with two dragons to gank people with, or before when the limit wasn't in place...5170 dragons! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh

I vote for Clean up Britannia project again! me as Lord British, vote! And I shall make sure all the moongate travel to the damned lands of Tokuno (?! never learned the name) the paladin and necromancer homes, elves and samurais will be closed forever! Reds shall be able to enter the lands of the blues using the same rules to everything. Corpse looting, kill stealing, town invasions, factions and chaos and order shall grow strong and once again the true shall walk the streets of Britain. vote back Garriot!

Or vote for my pal Ben, he makes tons of mmorpgs who all look the same and forgot the meaning of pvp. Instead he uses computer monsters to fight the player. But the games are in 3d! So you can see the monsters from all kinds of angels, and you can see peoples eyes blink! Yeah thats what mmorpgs are all about. Ben Carebear is the name for your game, vote Ben!

    ... Yup...

I've found (and I've played a LOT of different games) that those who are deeply into the PVP / PK aspects of a game, although not always children, often are children and usually don't give 2 hoots about any other part of the game that might be really cool (like questing, exploring, crafting...)  It's a shame really... and if I'm a carebear because I want a LOT of things in a game to hold my attention, since I'm gonna pay real money for it (usually) then by the gods, I'm a carebear.

Bite this carebear, see how long you last, child.

(had to get one dig in.. sorry)

Anyone who posts something like the OP is just begging to be called a noob. I've been pvping since UO, and I've never trash talked anyone, pee'd on their corpse, or even stuck around after the battle. I've never corpse camped, regen camped, gone after noobs, or any of that cowardly stuff. Yet, the loudest pvpers are the ones who do this kind of crap and call themselves "real" pvpers.

Next time you're going around trashtalking and see a group of pvpers plow through you, killing you and not saying a word to you during or after, that's us. If you don't like carebears, don't play their games. It's pretty simple, actually.

what about DnL?  Im not carebear however i don't think players should be penalized for a extremely high lvl relative to themselves one shotting them and causing them to lose xp this is what i call griefing, Lin2 enabled this and after a while i got tired of it espicially when my alts weren't able to lvl up cause people would camp the first 30 lvls worth of content so i'd d-lvl all the time nuff said (NCSOFT YOU SCREWED UP THERE) other than that Lin2 had some great pvp ideas.

I must agree the loudest pvpers who are so called real pvpers Mind you i don't believe any of them are real pvpers,  you could call them the real griefers group in pvp, yes they are the loudest, most cowardly, and yes definatley not very much worth associating with if they feel the need to cause people to lose lvls by 1 shotting them in pvp repeatedly.

However I think what the real pvpers are looking for this includes me mind you.  We're looking for non-penalized for pvp gaming, plus world pvp eg conquest, to switch hands, and even a player based political system this is why DnL is high on my list

I wasn't aware that it was a national crisis whether a player was "carebear" or not.  Thank you for informing me what a carebear was.  People like the OP tend to be the Nazi's of MMOS. "We must eradicate the inferior carebears from our virtual society!"

    Megalomania:

1 : a mania for great or grandiose performance
2 : a delusional mental disorder that is marked by infantile feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur

I just hope you can contain your mania inside of the game and don't take it out into the real world.

    Oh the irony.

The PK'er comes into the messageboard to spew his message of grandiose character superiority, and the angstful carebears rebut his statement by equally - if not greater, statements of immaturity.

The irony - It feels like middle-school all over again.

Here's a tip, why don't you all grow up?

Its a point of view question really. Besides, its always good to have an open debate eh? Sure there are pkers who yell loudly, scream and whisper but also those who are quiet, alone and laidback. Oh there are carebears who are loud, scream and whispering but also those who are quiet, alone and laidback. Its a natural balance! if everyone was "grown up" by some definition where all adults shut up and mind their own business, mmorpgs wouldn't exist besides, why grow up??.... ;)

I agree with the general stereotype of carebear, just look at WoW sales and the poor excuse they have for PvP servers.

    Ill add my own definition.

Carebear: Gamer whose preferences include mind numbing easy and repetitive systems which could be played by a clinical retard on drugs and are generally denominated as Player versus environment gameplay. Defends game lore but is uncapable of understanding player conflict, wishes to play a MMORPG like a single player game with a huge chatroom and with animated 3d avatars with cute emotes. As a group the responsable for the pitiful state of the MMORPG market in terms of design when it comes to Open PvP, game depth and difficulty, and grinding.

I think that fits pretty well.

Actually I just meant the people telling the guy to "get laid", or using profanity and namecalling to "rebut" his point, need to grow up.

I'm all fine for debates. It's when it crosses that line - And maybe the OP crossed that line, but he did it in alot more subtlety then some of the people replying to this thread.

And to the guy who said that people who refer to those naturally uninclined towards PvP as carebears should grow up - It's an industry standard now. I've even seen quite a few articles on MMORPG.com referring to such people as carebears - It's more or less become an official term. So if you got a problem with a word that correlates those who don't like a PvP atmosphere to a soft lil bear that shoots rainbows out of it's stomach, maybe you're just needing to grow up? Because honestly, who could get offended by that? It's absurd.

"Oh noes. You called me a teddy bear that is colorful - And lives in the clouds - And shoots rainbows from my belly. You fiend, your tongue is sharper than that of the devil!"

I mean c'mon, if anything, it's funny as all get out.

    Carebear stare!!!
