Entropia has an average return on investment of 11%, find any other investment anywhere right now with a 11% return.
This statement has been bothering me for a day now, and here's why:
This can only be true if it's an active pyramid with money constantly flowing in from the bottom. As money from the bottom slows, it drops. When money from the bottom stops, the average goes into a negative. For MindArk financials to be the way they are, there has to be far more people gambling and losing (and, yes, putting money in and hoping for that sweet drop to sell for a decent return while collecting animal sweat is gambling) than there are people winning.
The quoted statement is either misleading, as it misrepresents the actual chance of any return, or it's false and just being used to lure others into the bottom of the funnel.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

There are only a few 'players' that really make any money in this game, and yes its from other players effectively, the 'money' is very deeply entrenched, anybody expecting to walk into this game and make money is likely to lose their shirt, even breaking even is something i wouldnt count on. Its a game that is no stranger to controversy in the way it operates, and the only ones really promoting this game, invariably have a vested interest in doing so.
so basicly we have 2 groups related to this "Game"
the people who love it and the people who hate it..
personally reading both sides all im seeing from this is, not so much a game as its a buy in job O-o"
you have to work a job to make the money to use the money to buy PED to invest in to the game to make money in the game, to withdraw the PED made in to real money to do whatever with it... @_@
if that is correct... its not really a game is it?? its basicly a virtural job.. like a virtural slot machine its all a gamble.
if you invest 100usd or 1000 usd and buy some land on the "planet" there is no guarentee you will make or even break even.. while at the same time it sounds like you have to do that to actually advance in the "game"
to me that sounds like a job not a game. i cant see how that is relaxing or stress relef at all.. as you are gambling real money on bits of data and pixals..
if people like that sorta thing, good for them.. im just stumped how exactly its fun to gamble like that
Play it as a game, chuck in £10 a month an jsut have fun.. now if you cant have fun and i say this with every game then dont play
Back when i played Entropia I had a good time i guess mainly because i didnt sit and think that every time i fired my weapon i used some real money i just played it like another other monthly sub game ... did i make loads of cash... no not a all i think out of the 6 months i played i maybe got away without having to pay for about 2 months.. but i was playing to have fun not to make money..
So you dont have to go investing tons of cash and gamble your money away but that option is there if you want to give it a go
It always amazes me how people talk about this game without even trying it or with trying it, buying the bigest gun they could find and shoot away 10 dollars of ammo in 10 minutes and then quit because they lost their money. This game is a game for smart people and not for kids thinking they could become rich in a few days. Everything you do is an investment into the future. Buying better armor so you have better protection from bigger creatures, buying a bigger gun so you can kill them faster and by killing bigger creatures have a bigger chance of getting some big loot (no guarantees though).
Even though I think this 2,5M invetsment is a risky one, this guy could very well have his money back in no time.
There are examples enough of people investing in this game and getting A LOT of money back fro their investment (Deathifier, NEVERDIE, Buzz Lightyear, and for sure some land area owners)
Sure in the years I played this game I lost money, but so do people who play WoW or buy a new offline game every few months. In this game it is just that I descide if I wanna loose money or not, because I descide if I put in any money or not
kudos for all those that are in Entropia ,but I would never ever want to play a "game" like that
this game though is what I expect when I say the word MMO, could always wish for more, but this is the kind of game I want, the fact that it is connected to RL money make the market slow I think...which ruin it abit to me...a part of me love it is connected directly to RL money, but really would make the game easier to play if it wasnt, as in less dependency on someone thinking of if their investment is worth it or not - no smart person make a investment without thinking they have a good chance to win...be it in big skill gain or ped value, skills is the same as money in the bank...as long as someone care to pay it ofc...actually would love to have skills sellable in EvE online would be lovely :P other than the illegal way selling off your entire charecter
Sorry, but when you have a pyramid scheme like this game is the entire idea is for those in the game to get the shills to invest money in the game.
Don't fall for this nonsense. The game has probably the worst grind for newcomers of any game out there. How anyone can construe that as fun has some nuts loose. So you end up spending far more than you intended to lessen it.
The old saying , a fool and his money are soon parted, really holds true for this game.

No one disgrees with you - the guys at the top get rich off of the new players.

Putting all the money talk aside lets move on to a different topic regarding MA and these deeds..
Trust.. or lack there of.
These deed sales netted MA 6 million dollars in a very short time. They state it was going to be used for developement and advertising the game. I have been in the game for over 5 years now and the trust level I have for them now rates somewhere below the trust I would have in AlQuieda being an Amercan citizen.
Currently I am floating in space for near 24 hours (dead of course) and no way to revive due to a bug they introduced this last VU. The support department in this game is non existant unless you are the 1% that was mentioned earlier. Its a weekend which is usually busiest time in an on line game and they have ZERO active in game support for simple stuck cases. 6 million dollars and they cant fund a simple support structure? come on realy?
Now move on to the happenings in last few days..MA has again screwed over the player base the top 1% this time even. They are known for devalueing items in game at will. In the last 5 years they have made what they call limited versions of many in game items that USED to hold value. Now with the Limited system they are slowly knocking all investment into gear down to little or no added value. They just released the Mod Mercury L pistol into the game. The mod merc was one of the prized eco weapons in the game haveing a serious value to it for that eco. now it has an L counter part like so many of the other gear in game.
Trust..that is what you should use before thinking about getting into the game..Can you trust them over time not to rape you at their will.
whats the point of this game i cant understand why anyone would play entropia btw to guy above me chances are if he had 330k to spend on a game he was prob already a millionaire
When I played this game a long time ago, I was friends with a guy who had put his entire retirement fund into it and was hoping to live the rest of his life in retirement from making money in-game. The last time I played he was running low on funds and looking to go back to work.
Its a shit game and only profitable for very few people. I would almsot say its a pyramid scam since most people lose money playing it, no matter how many guides you use. Its a lucky few that find a niche that isnt already served and studying spreadsheets all day to find out how to make a tiny profit.
Its lots of wolves trying to make a killing and very little food to go around that isnt already being closely guarded by other wolves.
Paying for your ammo with real money and being able to sell your loot (also for real money) sounds great on paper, until you find out that ammo costs more than the loot that drops...

oops double post
