Threat in a pvp game.... clueless bus pulling into crazy town *toot toot*.
How should it work? Meat shields should provide buffs/debuffs for their party and mob AI should be smart enough to calculate priority targets.
By going with a "threat" model it tells me these guys don't even have their heads in the right space when it comes to pvp. This is a PVP game but a lot of what I'm seeing regarding class design seems to built for PVE. What exactly are they thinking?
Steve played a lot of L2 and the tanks in l2 had agro / threat skills that would force the target to switch target from the squishy to the tank. It's probably gonna look like that.
I liked the concept of this a lot because I always liked the way they implemented crafting and trade skills in Archeage. That said, for some reason I feel less excited with every info drop. Something about this feels...I dunno, like hollow and lacking in style.
It reminds me of a modernized version of all the pre-WoW games that were kinda derivatives of Everquest(DAoC, AA, AC, ect.). Maybe that's what they are going for, and I'm happy that it's not another game with Korean style models.

That makes sense. It would be a bit disappointing because that is one of the style changes from L1 to L2 that felt awkward.
I hope they look at that and beyond to make sure Tanks are not just token meat shields in PvP. IS has done a creative spin on almost everything they do. I hope thats the same with tanks. As I mentioned in a post in this tread. Part of Alpha 1 is more then testing all the systems in play. But they are going to let players start streaming content as one of the later stages of Alpha 1. Im sure we will get a better picture then. I always like to hear player reactions first.
