I'm unsure of your OS technical abilities but I'll post this in lieu of knowing.
If your using Windows XP as your OS and have applied Service Pack 2 there was a ninja update placed within it to severly slow down P2P traffic initiated by Micro$oft. They modified the TCPIP.SYS to only allow 10 concurrent connections for traffic such as BT and others. This will wreak HAVOCK on your BT speeds, trust me I had the same issues.
There is a patch that a german group made that will eliminate this restriction and place the value a float again and you can choose any number up to a signed int, 65,550. This will help you greatly as you can now have more concurrent connections to a seed and peers than the hard limit of 10 TOTAL.
If your up for it, or anyone else, please use caution but I can attest for this patch as I've been running it now since the release of SP2 for WinXP without incident. Many have used this over the years and solved their BT speed problems.
Again, use caution if you have no knowledge of what your doing. It is safe but this is my disclaimer. If anyone want's PM me if they wish more details as I'll be checking in and out during the day.
For all those that don't want to use Bit Torrent or any of the others out there, I'm currently uploading it now to my personal server. IT takes a bit, but it should be ready by tomorrow. If not, the test is from tomorrow unto the 28th, so there will still be plenty of time to download it and give it a try.
1st: BitComet is the BEST program I have used for Torrent files.
2nd: As stated by many, it is highly unlikely that ALL 8881 Pioneers, 10k+ Settlers, X Amount of Beta Testers & Pre-orders will login to the Closed Stress Test. (calling it Closed Stress Test as it is limited access at this time).
Ok let me just sum it up in simplest terms why I am vocal on an Open Beta/Stress Test instead of what is going to happen come May 21st.
How many of the 8881 Pioneers, 10k+ SoG Settlers and the X Amount of Beta Testers/Pre-orders have been active in the last few Days/Weeks/Months in SoG?
The HIGHEST amount of players logged in at the same time was during the 1st weeks of SoG and it declined significantly as the weeks trudged on by.
The numbers that logged in during the 1st few weeks of SoG , preferably MORE, are the REAL numbers you will WANT to have a full fledge Stress Test!
Those are the numbers you want to make or break the system!
There are some that left vowing to NEVER return again.
Some may come back during launch.
Some may come back a few months after launch.
And of course some that wants to check out how D&L is for themselves and how it will be come May 30th.
If you honestly believe that out of those 8881 Pioneers, 10k+ Settlers, X amount of Beta Testers and Pre-orders will break a couple hundred players logged in at the same time the way the community is here and in-game ...
Like I said, I am just giving the amount of people that already has a chance to login for the past few days/weeks/months into SoG as an example of how many may actually login during this stress test with how it is accessable.
Adding more people will hopefully give the new D&L Client a "real" stress test instead of just the few that has access that "may" login the next 9 days it will be open.
It goes as fast as there are people, and thankfully we have enough combined bandwidth between the 163 of us to compensate for the 221 who just shut down their clients after finishing the download.
If you leave it running after completing the download, you help everyone else. If not I believe the official term is 'leecher'.

Couse of this stress test Farlan realy amazed me again. Think about it they have certain sold accounts, the preorder is still up and now what they do they RISK A LOT with this stress test.
All I see here for them is loose loose situation:
1. If stress test turn out bad ( server/client crashes .. that are more than probable ) a lot of people will again refound account ( and post about it despite nda )
2. Client/server is stable but some other thing is crappy ( ui, combat animation etc... ) or people expected some features from it ... again a lot of people will refound. ( and post about it despite nda )
3. If everything turn out good and OK (or even GREAT and unbelivable ..very slim chance) ---> No one can post about it and even if they could, those who hate the game will still post same posts and would not belive anyting "fanbois" say. They definitely wont sell any more accounts on account of stress test.
Farlan realy does not know how to scam people (most of people who read this forums assume farlan= scamer ), first they are stupid enough to refound and now they again risk with this stress test.

I am one of those with a PB. Several notifications and weeks later still no response. It was my fourth character. I honestly dont believe that person deserved your foul attitude. PB and ALI still exist. As of the last day, I got a "already logged in" loop. Waited two hours and logged in another character. I do not believe telling someone to "get a life" and "get over it" is in any way conducive to any sort of credibility you may be trying to hang on to. I am not a frequent poster here, I am not a "hateboi" or a "fanboi" but I will tell you that I have a PB with no cooperation from Farlan at all. I still get "Already Logged In" loops. I have just learned to live with it hoping DNL will be better. It seems to me the only thing you are doing is confirming a thought that Farlan just doesnt care about the players with problems.
I really hope you mean this, Xanth, I am sick of you here. What happened to you? I used to enjoy your posts, but after you disappeared for awhile... when you came back you were not the same light-hearted person I remembed from the DnL forums months ago. This bug was discovered as we were testing the last version of the server that brings major additions regarding global stability.
It is created during communication between client and server and prompt a Base crash - inducing a server reboot.
Thanks to your test we have currently been able to get a huge mass of related in-game informations and are confident to be able to solve this bug quickly. Thanks also to those who tried to connect, without being successul, as it also helped us.
In order to do so, we close this stress test until tomorrow afternoon (UTC).
A precise hour will be announced as soon as possible.

seriously though, thanks IK for the update post. I dont doubt that 3-4 days is not enough to fix the issues - most (that still have the game) dont believe the may 30th launch date anyway. But I will say they gave it a try, it got thrown in their face --- now maybe they will listen to the customers alot more.
